Defense has been very strong, and offense is showing signs of getting it together. They've played 3 likely top 5 defenses to start the season. The schedule will let up, and the offense will get things in gear more consistently. I think I just need to adjust my expectations a little. Most of the big money and high draft picks are on the other side of the ball. It’s just weird seeing the Packers win like this, but it’s obviously better than losing.
They’ve won 1 playoff game since he came off his rookie contract. Even Aaron Rodgers has won more in that same span. Good QB, decent guy, but overrated IMHO.
I see Patrick Mahomes throwing 4 TDs a game and I’ll be the first to admit I’m jealous. I really miss those days. Somewhat related - I don’t think we appreciate the receiving quartet of Nelson, Jennings, Driver, and Jones enough. Those guys were good.
More Packers optimism: In the last 3 games, they’ve scored 10, 21, and 27 points. I know the defense set them up pretty well for 14 points today, but the offense seems to be improving (albeit marginally).
My personal take is this is what happens when you try a new offense with a veteran QB who has played his whole career under a different system, and open the season against 3 top 10 NFL defenses. 3-0 to open the season, could be a whole lot worse, I guess That’s a healthy perspective. Thanks.
I have two theories on the Packers’ offense: 1) Aaron Rodgers is no longer an elite QB or 2) The Packers neglected offense for so long in the first round of the draft that they lack the personnel to be effective
Poor weather in football makes it more difficult for the better team to demonstrate its superiority in a 60-minute window. Gotta believe the rain only hurts the Packers, all else equal.
Let’s hope things change next time the TV contract is up. I think the streaming services and/or social media companies will disrupt the way NFL games are delivered. A person should be able to subscribe to all of their favorite team’s games without having a bloated cable TV package.
If the Brewers can win tonight and go +3 on the Cubs, I’ll probably root for the Cubs tomorrow. Otherwise, I’m with the crowd that doesn’t want to get too greedy.
I understand the safety emphasis, but it’s asking a lot of the defenders to avoid head to head contact when the runner is moving vertically. You want to flag them? Sure. But a 1/2 game suspension? C’mon. I’m not even a Badger fan ... just pleading for reason here.
