  1. BTW, that homer by Bill gives us 18 straight games w/ a HR. Hopefully the streak can continue tomorrow!
  2. BILL HALL IS BACK BABY. GOTTA LOVE HIS HOT STREAK!!!
  3. Lohse is pitching one hell of a game. I can't remember the last time I saw a pitcher with pin-point control like he has tonight. He is making the Brewers look confused at the plate.
  4. I struggle with Mota because his stuff is so good. If he could figure out his control, he could become a very important piece for this team in the post-season. I hate to say it, but I think I agree w/ Ned on this one. Stetter will still be there, we need to continue to give Mota time to figure it out (he was decently effective last night). His stuff is too good.
  5. The D-Backs got him for infielder Emilio Benifacio. Call me crazy, but that seems like the D-Backs got an absolute steal there. One of the better relievers available for a AAA player that doesn't have stellar numbers. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080722&content_id=3173993&vkey=trade2008&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  6. I am not a professional, but I have done some web-programming in my spare time. This is an imperfect list, so anybody can feel free to add to it. Languages : HTML, Java, Flash. Probably want a basic knowledge of C++ and maybe Visual Basic Programs : The entire macromedia studio (most notably Dreamweaver and Flash), and Adobe Photoshop. There are countless other programs, but you can do just about anything you need to with proper knowledge of these. I would highly reccomend taking classes at a tech school or something like that. I have taught myself enough to dabble in my spare time and create some personal web-pages, but I don't think I would feel confident performing it as a job unless I had more instruction through a school. That being said, you may be the type of person that can easily pick this all up by yourself, but my guess would be that you would occupy less time taking a class at a tech college (and at a minimal cost) learning these languages than if you tried to teach yourself them. You also learn nice little tips and tricks that save you time.
  7. FWIW, simply based on home/road ERA splits, the pitching match-ups actually favor the Brewers. 1. Sabathia (2.40 Home ERA as a Brewer [3.69 overall]) vs. Lilly (3.78 Road ERA) --- Adv. Sabathia 2. Sheets (2.96 Home ERA) vs. Zambrano (3.84 Road ERA) -- Adv. Sheets 3. Parra (3.02 Home ERA) vs. Dempster (3.42 Road ERA) -- Adv. Parra 4. Bush (2.49 Home ERA) vs. Harden (1.29 Road ERA as a Cub [2.94 overall]) - Adv. Harden depending on the numbers you use I know thats not all-encompassing, just a glimpse at things.
  8. Suppan is on pace to give up 7 runs tonight. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif JUN 8 @ COL - 1ER JUN 14 MIN - 2ER JUN 20 BAL - 3ER JUN 25 @ ATL - 4ER JUL 1 @ ARI - 5 ER JUL 6 PIT - 6ER Here's to hoping he can re-start the "cycle" at 1 ER or even (gasp) 0 ER after that stint on the DL
  9. I still can't believe Sheets got a double. With his swing, the pitch must have been right down the wheelhouse (even then, I'm suprised he hit it). I'm going to have to go back on MLB.tv and watch that.
  10. I hope you were kidding, because Harden put up a great performance last night. He did way more than a club can expect out of a SP, and the Cubs HAVE to win that game with that performance (much like when Ben Sheets struck out 11 against the Rockies). Tough loss for them, great for us!
  11. Be a real American, get a gun. Nothing says security like a shotgun in an intruders face http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. 4) Keiichi Yabu, SF - old (39), good numbers in SF I would LOVE to see him come to Milwaukee, simply for his name. Did anybody else listen to Uecker pronounce his name earlier in the year when the Dodgers were in town. I couldn't stop laughing.
  13. Chris Berman was terrible last night as well. I think it would be cool if they did something like have each player be commentated by either his tv or radio announcer. That way I could listen to Ueck instead of Berman. His whole "Back, back, back...GONE!" routine got old 10 years ago.
  14. You know, i think Braun only swung at 4 or 5 pitches that would have been balls in that AB...
  15. got out of that inning fairly unscathed. I hope CC settles down a little bit in the coming innings.
  16. Come to think of it, one of the worst parts is these counts that he pops out on. It will be 3-0, 3-1, 2-1 and he'll take a terrible swing at the ball...
  17. Rickie needs to learn how to hit line drives. It seems like he either pops out or grounds out. Very frustrating.
  18. This same exact thing nearly happened to me 2(?) years ago. I was at the Metrodome for the annual Brewers/Twins game there. A buddy and I were sitting 2nd row, in the corner right above the twins dugout (basically perpendicular to the way the batter was facing). Craig Counsell came up to bat. Being the slap hitter he is, he got a ball outside and just kind of threw his bat at it. The only thing I remember seeing is white, but my buddy and I ducked out of the way. This ball was cooking, and an old guy behind us tried to catch it with his bare hand. The Metrodome ushers came down and asked this guy if he wanted medical attention, but he refused. Needless to say, this was pretty eye-opening. If I wouldn't have been paying attention to the game, I could have caught a ball right in the melon. Of course, my mom had told me to bring my glove to that game and I scoffed, saying that the only way we would get a ball would be if it was a lazy pop-up, and in that case I would catch it with my hand. Pretty scary thing. Seems like that boy is in good spirits. I hope he makes a full recovery.
  19. Seems like the Brewers are the perfect medicine for those pitchers with an ERA over 6. This becomes incredibly frustrating for a fan to watch.
  20. I wish we could just take Fogg to town. He left Rickie 3 fastballs at 88MPH right down the chute there and Rickie didn't hit any of them. Fogg's ERA is over 9. We should be pounding the ball...
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3483521 Just reported that he has asked for his unconditional release from the Packers. This is a sad day for me (and probably all of Wisconsin). It will be strange seeing one of our heroes in another uniform. Best of luck to Brett I guess. I wish he wouldn't have retired if he still wanted to play. That would have been a lot easier on everybody....
  22. My goodness. I haven't felt my heart drop like that since my parents told me they were getting divorced (true story). You scared the crap out of me
  23. Ron Santo, is that you? Nah, I think that's Mark Grace.
  24. I wouldn't count him being much more affordable. He'll be as affordable as whatever the Yankees or Red Sox decide they want to pay him. If he finishes the season strong and healthy..that could be quite a large some of money. With that presumption, I was also factoring in the fact that it is highly unlikely that Ben Sheets will get a contract with the same number of years that CC will on his. Year-to-year, yes, Ben may not be much cheaper than CC, but his deal would also probably be at least 2 or 3 years shorter (just my guess at it) given his injury history.
  25. I don't even think the idea of CC re-signing with the Brewers is worth talking about. It will not, and should not happen. He will demand far too much money for our team to pay him (~20% of our entire salary cap). The Brewers should not make plans in their budget for a player that wants that much money. I do think that re-signing Ben Sheets, however, would be a good plan. He will be much more affordable, and will most likely require fewer years on the contract.
