  1. Im back! Couldn't stay away for even a day (more or less a week like I said I was going to). It's a new day, gentlemen. Let's get a W.
  2. Over/under for ER off of Bush tonight. With his paltry fastball and offspead stuff haning over the plate (like it usually seems to), im going to go with 6 ER in 4 IP (total of 75 pitches). And call me pessimistic, but I get this feeling like the Cubs don't really care who is batting behind anyone else. They are pitching well and we are hitting terribly. I don't see Rich Harden pitching around anybody, because in this series, the Brewers have shown a complete inability to come through with clutch hitting (save for 3TO).
  3. This team is breaking my heart. I'm done following the Brewers for at least a week. I'll check back in here next Wednesday. Hopefully good things happen between now and then.
  4. o.0 Chad Moeller is the backupu in NY? I never knew that. Good for Pudge. I think he'll get a good amount of playing time, and he still has enough left in the tank.
  5. The series is over. Seasons over. Brewers suck. Melvin sucks. Yost sucks. Won't make the playoffs. Won't win a game the rest of the season. Won't get a hit with RISP the rest of the year. Prince will finish with 20HR. Mike Cameron will finish with 200K (175 looking at pitches right down the middle). In all reality, I would love to be wrong here. Nothing else seems to be working http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. At this point in the season, I would think Braun has jumped past Utley, H. Ramirez, and Pat "the bat". I would put Braun 3rd. The more time Chipper spends on the DL, the more his chances decline (which is why I put Braun ahead of him). So, to this poin, I would vote: 1. Berkman 2. Pujols 3. Braun 4. Holliday If Ryan can keep this up, he'll at least be in contention with Lance and Pujols for the NL MVP. Berkman had a bad July and Braun had a GREAT July, so he closed up a lot of ground there. I think there is a realistic chance that he could go ROTY --> MVP in his first 2 seasons. Should be exciting to see how it all plays out.
  7. BOLD PREDICTION: I bet we put up more runs tonight than we did off of Lilly last night and will put up vs. Dempster tomorrow. The Brewers seem to struggle mightily against the more finesse pitchers, yet do OK against the fireballers. Hopefully tonight we can torch Zambrano for 4 or 5 runs. Like I have been saying, this Brewer team really needs an offensive explosion. We need a stretch of games where we can get more than 4 or 5 runs.
  8. A couple of years ago when I was playing HS baseball, I had a rotator cuff impingement (the rotator cuff was being pinched between the bones of my shoulder when I would throw hard). This made it so when I threw, my shoulder would hurt so much that I would have to let my arm sit limp to my side for maybe 15-20 seconds until the pain subsided. I can only imagine that Turnbow was experiencing the same/ a similar kind of experience. This might have something to do with his struggles, but he never compained of pain or any discomfort (that I know of). Hopefully gets it fixed, gets a contract (albeit small) with some club and comes back to have some success.
  9. The bottom 1/3 of our batting order is terrible. Cameron NEEDS to produce more than this from the CF spot...
  10. The Brewers need an offensive outburst tonight. They hit lefties well, so maybe its possible. Those last 2 games in STL were pretty sad offensively. We left way to many runners on base.
  11. Bob Uecker (I know, he's radio, not TV). We have been spoiled by one of the greatest radio announcers ever. If we could find somebody that was 1/2 as funny for the TV broadcasts as Bob is on the radio, it would be electric. Not to mention his play-by-play isn't bad. But honestly, its much more fun to say the the TV announce is a knob than to say he is good, isnt it? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I would agree with your assessment, and I too am always complaining about what I'm watching on TV.

  18. oh my. He hot dogged that one. Watched it a little too long I think. That a boy Braun!!! 20 Games in a row w/ a homer for the Brewers!
  19. I think, thus far, we've stranded 22 base runners in the last 2 games. Thats not going to win you many games.
  20. Its official boys...Corey Hart is ICE cold.
  21. You are looking at 2009. This thread is about 2008. The question here is whether he will wear down at the end of this season, not if he will or won't be fine for next season. There is some concern that he wore down at the end of 2007 and could wear down at the end of this season. If he did wear down at the end of 2007, based on my projections, his numbers as far as IP and # of pitches thrown will be almost identical...signaling that he could wear down this season as well. Again, I have no idea if he did or didn't wear down, however. I didn't see him pitch last season at all.
  22. Interesting note: It's amazing how much faster IGT's get put up when the team is on a winning-streak. Not a complaint, just an observation http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Go Crew! BTW, I can't recall perfectly, but I seem to remember something about how we have never swept the Cardinals at home. True or untrue? Also, when was the last time we even won a series down there? I think its been quite a while.
  23. This thread is pretty interesting and it got me doing some analysis (and projections) for CC. All figures are regular season only: - Assuming 7 IP/ start (which is well above his career average BTW) * 12 projected starts remaining = 84 IP remaining - 154.1 IP currently + 84 projected remaining = 238.1 IP Projected - 84IP remaining * 15.9 career P/IP = 1336 remaining pitches + 2356 current = 3692 projected pitches - 3692 projected pitches / 238.1 projected innings = 15.50 projected P/IP - 84IP remaining / 9 = 9.33 * 7.46 career K/9 = 70 remaining K + 152 current = 222 projected K's - 70 remaining K's / 2.56 career K/BB = 27 remaining BB + 42 current = 69 projected BB's - 222 projected K / 69 projected BB = 3.22 projected K/BB - 222 projected K / 238.1 projected innings = .9315 * 9 = 8.38 projected K/9 - 84IP remaining / 9 = 9.33 * 3.78 career ERA = 35 ER remaining + 57 current = 92 ER projected - 92 ER projected / 238.1 IP projected = .3441 * 9 = 3.47 ERA projected Obviously some of this doesn't pertain to this thread, but it is very interesting. All of the projections were based off of his career averages (except for IP which I figured it would be best to use 7 IP/start rather than his career average of 6.47 IP/start). Again, these numbers are conservative based on his career averages. I expect that his K's will be higher, BB's will be lower than projected (higher K/BB ratio). I wouldn't be suprised if his ERA was lower than projected as well. Some interesting things to note: - Projected 238.1 IP (2.1 IP less than 2007) - Projected 3692 total pitches (125 more than 2007) So these two crucial stats to a pitcher's stamina are nearly identical to 2007. So, if it is true that he wore down in 2007 (I have no idea if it is or not), it is POSSIBLE that he could wear down in 2008. Only time will tell. Hopefully that robust body of his holds up and gets us through the regular season and playoffs. EDIT : It will be interesting (come the end of the year) to check out my projections compared to his final stats. Somebody make sure to remind me! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Escobar is 21. There is no sense in rushing him up to the Majors. We should NOT trade Rickie in the offseason on the hopes that Escobar's AA performance translates to the Majors. He would need to show me solid performance at AAA, or at least something decent in cup of coffee in the Majors before I would be willing to trade away a nice chip like Rickie Weeks.
  25. On half a season of pitching? I think not.
