  1. Oh man, if you want a good chuckle, head over to NSBB and check out their in-game-thread for today. Everyone is in panic mode. They are all just stupified at how their club has no offense as of late. I highly recommend it.
  2. I appreciate it. Thanks a bunch. Go D-Backs!
  3. Anyone? A little help with the Cobs thing?
  4. Haha, 0 for 2 today Jaybird. You're really going to have to dig deep into the vaults for your next one (GWSY #100!!).
  5. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/33226d3325218cc76c5e7dacf34e18e3b4293408.pjpg http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/16816f3e2cce6ae2a8c450ca4a06699c998346ab.pjpg I see some resemblance here. Big guns? Made of steel?
  6. George W. Bush did an interview last year in which he said he frequents "The Google". I found this to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard. (I am not a GWB hater or lover, however I do love him for his funny antics)
  7. You know, I can't figure this one out. Please enlighten me on why they are the Cobs? I'm having a total mind blank on that one.
  8. I disagree. As much as I would LOVE a sweep or to win 3/4, we need to keep our expectations constant. Coming into this series, a reasonable expectation was winning 2/4, possibly 3. I think if we come away with only these 2 wins, while not ideal, it certainly will not be a failure. Remember for tonight and tomorrow that yes, even Ben Sheets and CC Sabathia lose ballgames. The Cards may come out just pounding the ball, we'll have to see, but I certainly hope we can take at least 1 of the 2 remaining games. As for photos, I'll find some when I get home.
  9. Considering Ned uses splits for seemingly everything else (probably puts his pants on opposite leg first while on the road) I am suprised he hasn't said much about this. Personally, I never realized that Mota was getting killed by lefties. With those numbers, I wouldn't mind Mota being our righty-only guy.
  10. ha, that didn't take long. Start up a new one. I'm going to get one of these eventually...
  11. I don't like him as the closer, but in the bullpen would be fine. I think we need to tip our caps to Torres and leave him there because he has been doing a great job as the closer. I would like him in the bullpen ONLY if he was healthy enough to return without the playoffs being a force on that decision. I don't think there is any reason to rush Yo back. We need him to be our rock for the next couple of seasons, so if he is healthy and effective, might as well have him around.
  12. In no particular order: 1) Ray Allen (NBA Live 2002 for XBOX) - I would absolutely dominate with Ray and the Bucks. He was a 3-point machine. Made the game far to easy. I would throw up shots from feet behind the 3 point line and they would go in easily 2) Justin Verlander (MLB 2k7 for XBOX 360) - Impossible to hit off of him while playing other users over the internet. The guy throws a 100 MPH fastball w/ a ~75-80MPH NASTY curveball. Combine that with the latency, and you have the perfect cocktail for a no-hitter. 3) Peach (Mario Kart 64: Versus mode) - What more do you need to say. She is my lady. "Take that!" Bowser (Mario Kart 65 : Battle mode) - Need to be one of the big-boppers so you can run into other people and take out their balloons thats about all I can come up with for now (not thinking hard enough). I'll try to think back to some of the older games that I used to play as well. BTW - the Cowboys owned in Tecmo (not a fan, just a fact)
  13. I'm going to have to watch the MLB.tv replays tonight when I get home to check this out, but I don't recall Bill doing this. Even still, if they want to bean Billy, fine. Give him one in the thigh, ribs or something and be done with it. None of this crap where a pitcher will throw at a guys head and begin a bean-ball fest. I would bet that Yost and the Brewers in general realize these games are wayyy to key to get into a bean-ball match and get ejected (same for the Cardinals players). One ball in the side wouldn't make me upset, as long as they don't get carried away. That being said, GO CREW! Let's hope for another strong start from CC, and a little offense to boot.
  14. Thats what I thought too, but why wouldn't we go after Rauch (a guy who is under control for another year and a half) if all it took was a AAA guy who doesn't project to much in the majors. I think DM might be happy with the bullpen as is. Personally, I think the pen has been pretty solid since Torres moved to the closer role. Our pen isn't nearly as bad as people say it is (media creates a firestorm over it) We are: #1 in NL in Saves #9 in NL in Bullpen ERA (much of which is probably due to a few guys struggling, but they are getting back on track) #7 in NL in Bullpen BAA #15 in NL in IP (pretty fresh arms still) Overall, it looks like our bullpen is middle-of-the-road thusfar, just a tick behind the cubs, yet people say our bullpen is awful. With the veterna arms we have, there is a lot of opportunity for these guys to get it straightened out and there have been signs of this in the last couple of weeks (save for that ugly ARI game). I agree with the logic that if a guy falls in our lap and is too cheap to pass-up, great, but I don't belive we HAVE to go out and get someone to surely be contenders.
  15. Agreed. There is no sense in rushing him up to the major leagues. We don't have some "glaring hole" that he would fix. He would be a slight upgrade, IMO, and not worth bring up until he seems most comforatable. TBH, I would rather we keep JJ than Rickie (if we HAD to trade one). He just seems like one of the steady guys that every team needs. He is serviceable at the plate and good in the field. I think he brings extra versatility that Rickie doesn't have because of his sub-par defense (though it has been better lately).
  16. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/07/the-lefty-relie.html Since I believe we would be looking for a lefty reliever (right?), this is the list we should probably look at. Breaks down guys who could/should be available. Pretty concise.
  17. Not to mention (i believe) we are only responsible for the pro-rated league minimum. Can't argue too much with this signing. At that price, he's certainly worth a shot in the minors and a September callup.
  18. Yeah, this guy apparently ditched his car 1 block from my apartment building (about 1 or 2 hours before I got home). They haven't found him yet, and when I got home, the police choppers were circling about. One of my roommates called me at work and told me the scoop, so I kept an eye out while I was walking back from the bus stop to my building, but didn't see much. I'm sure he is long gone from my area, but hopefully they catch him soon. Crazy story. Glad to hear you are an alert driver and got out of the way.
  19. Wrong. It's only July. If they are 4 games back, that doesn't drop them out of any race for the division (or WC) or the market for a reliever. We need to remember. There is a LOT of baseball to be played yet.
  20. Anybody here into Tekken Tag for the PS2? That game is fantastic and one of my favorite head-to-head combat games. I also LOVE Super Smash Bros.:Braul for the Wii.
  21. After a performance in the all-star game like that, I would bet Sherill has a pretty big price tag for a reliever. Also, I read somewhere (yesterday?) that the Brewers probably aren't willing to put up what it takes to get Sherill, which is fine by me. Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if we were done trading. After seeing what the D-Backs stole Rauch for, we certainly could have beat that trade w/o touching any of our truly good prospects. Maybe we weren't high on Rauch, or the Nats were high on that guy (can't recall his name) they traded for, but I would have to think that we could have had him if we wanted. Thats just the feeling I got after seeing that trade go official yesterday.
  22. Minnesota drivers. Stay away at all costs.
  23. I say this all the time. This is why I have so much respect for Joe Mauer. I am convinced that he could play for the Cubs and I would still be a huge fan of his. I would agree with pitchleague in his analysis. I think when people saying someone is "playing the game the right way", the refer to an old-school approach of hustle, respect and desire for the game. These guys aren't flashy, they don't watch their home runs sail out of the park, they just put their head down and RUN around the bases, not power-walk like many people do today. To me, a guy like this hits line drives without being concerned about the home-run. Not a rant, just describing what I envision when I say "he plays the game the right way". A hard-working, scrappy, doubles-guy, with a lot of respect for the game
  24. Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers for the NES was always one of my favorite games. I could talk about video games all day. I play NES and SNES emulators all the time (Contra, Chronotrigger mainly for SNES)
  25. Yikes. Have you seen him lately? 7.36 ERA in June 11.37 ERA to date in July I think I'll pass.
