  1. What about Lowrie or Scutaro? BoSox have organizational depth...
  2. Green got a lot of work this weekend, including in key situations, maybe the coaches will keep him. I'd wouldn't be surprised to see Braddock go down, get light use and be a key piece come August and September. I can't see Stetter staying up when Hawkins comes back. I actually think Hawkins will be very good for us this year and our pen will be one of the better pens in the league.
  3. Good to see the other team with dumb base running...
  4. Brenly is the absolute worst. I can't believe ge was on the shortlist for manager. I would've preferred sup pan as a player manger than this punk
  5. I think we may need to score 6+ runs to win this game.
  6. If it makes you feel better, he is known around here in Chicago as a bad tipper and rude
  7. This is usually the series that gets Casey out of funks. Maybe I'm just misremembering, but I feel like he's been key in the few wins we've had over the Cubs lately. Sadly MLBTV will be blacked out today and I'll have to watch on WGn
  8. I feel like Rickie is the only one who shows any sign of improvement over a year ago. Everyone else has the same issues as in the past. Great effort by Narv Dog. Terrible hitting with RISP. We've just seemed to find ways to lose in a varieties of fashions this year and it is only April 4.
  9. Argh, this is brutal...This is reminding me of last May's game vs the Reds, pretty sure that was Hoffman's last save op as the closer.
  10. 1. If picking between Vegas and Gammons, Vegas is always right. 2. I also think this could be the Pirates scouts chatter. I feel like I've read a lot of negative Brewer news over the past two weeks and at the same time hearing A LOT about how this is finally the year that the Pirates break .500. Maybe it is just me, but I've read numerous articles saying that Pedro Alvereaz, Jose Tabata et al are going to dominate. Even if those two are great, along with McCutcheon, I'm not sure they have much else; oh rights, Overbay and Ronny Cedeno I know spring breeds hope, but they are still trotting out there Maholm, Ohlendorf and Chad Morton. Our stats have been decent this spring from the guys that matter, so I don't quite get this. Maybe the negativity is good; maybe it is because the manager is new; maybe it will be gone if we take two of three at Cinci, but still unclear where it is coming from...doesn't seem merited.
  11. Between LaRussa and Dusty, the NL Central boasts a couple of huge pitcher killers eh? Feel bad for Wainwright, but as with most of you, I have no sympathy for the Cards. Luckily the Mets and Yankees are trying to sign-up all the borderline starters so there aren't a ton of good options out there for the Cards.
  12. I like this. They thinned out their very strong system and make themselves more competitive. I hate the Cubs, but like when the rivalry is competitive. I still think our rotation is far better. Garza will be their #1 but is only slightly better than Wolf and I'd take Yo or Grienke over him any day. Unless Soriano, Aramis and Z turn back the clock a bit, our lineup is still much better. Luck could change things, but I still think we are better. That said, I'll enjoy a competitive race.
  13. Quite a change for Lucroy over the past two years, catching AA pitchers two years ago, AAAA pitchers and Gallardo last year and All-stars this year
  14. Love this. 28 years since we've hung up a real banner in our stadium (wild card banner doesn't count). Odds are, the package that we sent won't be a nucleus to a division winner, so why not go for broke? I'd give anything for a championship to come to Milwaukee and this is the best position we've been in for a long time. Let's just pray for health. I can't wait!!!
  15. I love this trade, if for no other reason that it puts us in a strong position for 2011 rather than looking beyond to 2012. IF a few things go the Brewers way (Hart's and Rickie's 2010 was real, Yo/Cain/Escobar progress, Casey doesn't regress, pen sticks) they will be in the hunt the whole year. I don't think those IFs are as big as last years. Great move right now, let's hope it pans out.
  16. The initial reaction to "who to bring in next" would be that Willie is well-liked and knows the team well. This team isn't that far away and 2011 is a big year, so it may not make sense to bring in a whole new regime. That said, I don't know how much cred Dale or Willie has after being a part of the previous regime.
  17. Jason Stark last night noted that the last team before Brewers to have 3 pitchers give up 10+ R in same calendar month: '91 A's (Dressendorfer May 4, Welch May 5, Moore May 17). Parra and Narvy have done it. Bush was third last night, Wolf tonight. Has to be the record, right?
  18. I don't think they'd include Beckham, but would give up Hudson + another top tier prospect. Wouldn't shock me to see Hudson struggle a bit to start out. He'd be a good NL pitcher.
  19. 3TO isn't listed as available but I read that he should be. Good to finally get through the first without giving up any runs.
