  1. In order, I'm hoping for: 1. Ruth 1A. Lee, 2. Peavy, 3. Buchholz, 4. Webb, 5. Bedard, 6. Jose Lopez
  2. It just seems like a good mix of guys and you can't help but think that Hoffman has had an effect on their pitching. Charlie in particular went from being a nibbler to a strike throwing 8th inning stud. Inevitably, there will be a bit of a dip, but I see the pen as a strength heading into the stretch of the season. If they are all still healthy in September, it will really help shorten games. Plus, some of the September reinforcements will add some depth without costing too much in quality.
  3. It is going to take some clutch at bats today and a little luck for us to pull this one out. Vasquez is very solid.
  4. If he is well enough to pitch, I say go for it... But that is a big IF. He's gassed.
  5. Congrats to Mr. Smith. Makes sense and gives us some 'relief' for the Braves series. Lets hope that Bush can go deep tomorrow to give us some breathing room.
  6. What about Grudzelanek? Milwaukee guy, decent average and a free agent. Granted he is old and recovering from injury, but seems like a decent option. We can wait until after the draft and make the decision so as not to lose a pick. Plus that gives us a few weeks to look at the Hall/Casey/Gamel/Hurricane options.
  7. Especially the way they are collectively beating up on the other two divisions. Except the Brewers vs. the NL West...
  8. Wes Helms gets a mixed reception. Not sure people even really care...
  9. 3 vs AZI (1-2) 2 @ PIT (2-0) 2 @ CIN (2-0) 3 vs CHI (2-1) 3 vs FLA (2-1) 3 @ STL (1-2) 3 @ HOU (3-0) 3 @ MIN (1-2) 3 vs STL (2-1) 3 vs CIN (3-0) 19-9 Very optimistic, but I'm expecting a few games of Hot Soup and an improvement from Manny.
  10. Great for Carlos, but I doubt he will have much of an opportunity to play. Thankfully, it seems that Kendall is figuring some things out at the plate and getting better ABs.
  11. I was going to start the same post this morning. Seems like the big innings we've had have all been done without the longball. In particular, guys like Prince and Hart have seemed to embrace this. Excluding Sunday's game in Houston, Rickie has only walked once this season. Hard to believe.
  12. I have a terrible feeling that Nelson is going to get K'd with the bases loaded and two out to end this game.
  13. Never like it when Kendall is our best hitter of a game. At least Prince will get a shot at Valverde again. [oops. spoke too soon. HOPEFULLY, he gets a shot at him]
  14. This is a tough spot for Nelson. He's obviously pressing.
  15. Not a very good approach for Prince there. Come on Cam!
  16. I'd like to see another single, single, single, single type inning here.
  17. I guess you're probably right. On top of that, I guess the pen is somewhat rested considering they were barely worked on thursday and not at all on Friday. I would've left Hardy in and taken out Counsel. He's smoking the ball, just unlucky.
  18. Don't like removing Manny this early. There are many more runs to be scored. Worried about going to our pen and know that we can tag their pen for a few more this game, even if not this inning. Macha doing a double switch?
  19. Nelson's first start of the year. Hopefully it results in the first hit, HR, RBI game of the year too.
  20. I'm a little nervous because the Stros have hit lefties well. Not sure where Macha goes if he needs to look elsewhere in the 4th inning. If Julio is still on the team during this game, maybe you give him one more long look and chance at redemption. Any word on when Hoffman will be activated?
  21. He was a solid setup man while with Milwaukee. He had one rough year of the three, but ended up being a key element to getting El Caballo. As I recall he was a key player in the Sox championship team too. Did the Cubs get anyone else from the Rockies in this deal? If not, it was a pretty awful deal.
  22. Wasn't it almost exactly 12 months ago that Figeroa threw a two hitter against us for 8 innings or something? Do it for Abe Lincoln!
