  1. phew.....not sure you send estrada has much left in the tank....surveys options....
  2. Wow, LOVE how Jean just held the throw there like, "Aren't you glad you didn't run, look at where this throw was"
  3. I have a feeling that this is Estrada's "Bad" inning. He always has 1.
  4. Hudson is so tough. It is going to be really hard to get much against him at all. We're going to need a great game out of Estrada.
  5. If only they had fired Kyles earlier.....(blue)
  6. Brothers Francisco and Fernando up against each other. They have nearly identical names and ERAs.
  7. It also says something about the 'Stros. The last time they scored more than 4 runs was that debacle of a game where Livan, Loe and Axford tried to give them the game at the end of last month in that 8-7 Brewers win. This team is not just bad, they're epically bad. I can't remember seeing a team with more below average players. Altuve is their best player and there is no one even close.
  8. So looking at last year, you had Carl Pavano get 2/16, De La Rosa get 2/21, Lily get 3/33. I would put him above each of those guys and you only take on a one year risk. I think I'd do it. He's a good clubhouse guy, probably sees that one good season could net him a long-term deal and we'd probably benefit. When he's on, he's a top 20 pitcher in the NL.
  9. Why are the Dodgers out on Grienke? They've been focused on JJ, Dumpster and Shields acc to Heyman.
  10. When we traded LaPorta, he was rated as the #23 by BA, right behind CarGo (29 spots ahead of Carlos Gomez and 21 ahead of Votto)...Plus we threw in a decent PTBNL. Whoever gets Grienke is getting 4-7 fewer starts and he's a bigger risk than CC, but I still think he should net a top 40 player.
  11. When can we merge this with the topic in the main forum???
  12. In 2008, Wolf was 6-10 with a 4.71 ERA at the trade deadline and Ed Wade made a deal for him. Granted they only gave up Chad Reinke, but Stros picked up the salary. Too bad there is no more Ed Wade.

  14. I was hoping we'd do a Rickie and Grienke deal with the Tigers with the hope that reuniting Prince and Rickie would get him out of his slump. It would've been an absurd deal, but would've made teh Tigers a fun team to watch.
  15. I'd accept cash. It'd be great to get him off the books and save for the future. He could be traded after the deadline though too to get us some flexibility.
  16. Melvin's worst deal in retrospect was offering KRod Arbitration, which didn't seem like a bad idea at the time, but ended up costing a huge amount of money for mediocre performance. Obviously, the You don't get Grienke to waive his no trade without Marcum, so I will maintain that was a good trade to this day. Given that we were so close to the WS, I still think it was great. I think the JJ deal was a decent one, because you got a valuable and cheap player in Gogo and Hardy was about to become a FA anyway. We got more out of Gogo last year than the twins got from Hardy before he hit FA. His worst trade is easily the Lee and Cruz for Coco and Munch. Coco ended up being great and we had no idea that Cruz would be this great, but Munch was awful.
  17. See that strikeout Scouts? All we need is a single A player and someone to pick up his salary. Thanks in advance, Melvin
  18. For more on Davidson: http://deadspin.com/5898424/better-know-an-umpire-bob-davidson?tag=bobdavidson True fact: On September 7, 2010, before Trevor Hoffman recorded his 600th career save, Davidson pulled off the holy trifecta of ejections: the home team (Brewers outfielder Chris Dickerson), the road team (Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan), and a drunk fan.
  19. Davidson is absurd. Every pitch taken the catcher and hitter and pitcher just sit there, waiting to find out what the call is because no one has an idea what he'll call.
  20. YES!!!! Straight away! Get those nails ready for the 8th and 9th. Could use some insurance for Berkman's PH AB vs Axford.
  21. Not only does our pen stink, it is shorthanded tonight. That said, Fiers needs to get pulled here.
  22. Man, I love how he pounds the zone. I'd rather watch this than Yo's 14Ks.
