  1. People who bought tickets on secondary market may get screwed.
  2. Sounds like it would something Andy Kaufman would do.
  3. While I believe they will void the bets, how is this different than a team only playing 161 games because of a rainout and being 1 win short of covering, or like 2 years ago what if the Brewers covered in their win total in game 163. I am sure those bets would not be cancelled. Additionally, Vegas makes its money by getting people to bet both sides of a spread. In that scenario, people who bet the early line lose. Vegas gets their "juice" if they don't cancel. They lose it if they cancel the bets. I hopefully think they will honor the bets as made.
  4. Recently bet under on season win totals for Cards, Cubs, Reds and Pirates. Also Crew to win division and over win total. My question; if the season gets shortened because of coronovirus, did my first 4 bets get better?
  5. We started with Status Pro, switched to Pursue the Pennant and now play Diamond Mind. National League only, but you don't lose a player because he goes to the other league. Originally we got together at a friends house and played on Wednesday night. Still play on Wednesday nights at a local school. Not as many die-hards, but the league continues. We are currently finishing the 2018 season. Will start the 2019 next September. The group was comprised originally by people that were in an AL only. Same issues with people gaining commitments, moving, etc. Somewhat funny story - back in the old days after we played a series we had to compile the stats and then send them to the commissioner. What a pain. I was kicked out of the league one year for failure to get my stats done. Pursue the pennant is so much nicer. Click, click, click and stats compiled. I am not interested in joining another league, but would encourage anyone not in a league like this or a rotisserie league to join one. The things I like best is all the research I do prior to the draft and the camaraderie with other like minded people. That research and Brewerfan are my 2 biggest source of baseball knowledge.
  6. Just an idea they can explore is that they don’t need a 5th starter until I believe the 4th time through the rotation because of off days. Also, because of the frequent off days, they could possibly start the year with 12 pitchers on the roster even if it’s only for a week or two until something comes up or an extra inning game forces a move to be made. Similar to the Choi situation from a couple years ago in a way. New roster rules require 13 position player, 13 pitcher split I believe.
  7. I don't remember that at all but faking a tag is against the rules and grounds for an ejection. I know it is illegal in high school, but I am pretty sure it is allowed in pros. I've been wrong before so I wouldn't bet the house on this, but I am sure I've seen it recently in mlb.
  8. However, until you see this done, you don't know it is an option. With the relative few people that do this a person may not know it is an option. I saw it for the first time about a month ago. I use my credit card so it doesn't change anything with me, but I found it interesting.
  9. My season seats are behind home plate , I think row 11, and I love them. Wouldn't want to move down either baseline.
  10. I am hoping they land a kid by the name of AJ Vukivich from East Troy. Plays with Hitters Baseball Academy, the same program that Gavin Lux and Jerrod Kellinic played with before being drafted. Really raised his stock last summer. My understanding is he is expected to go by middle of 2nd round. Great kid, incredible work ethic. All around athlete - 4 year starter on East Troy's basketball team where he became their all time leading scorer earlier this year. Came in 2nd in home run derby during all star game festivities last summer. Can be seen here. https://www.mlb.com/video/high-school-home-run-derby Committed to Louisville, but I believe is signable in the right situation. Has pitched and played some shortstop in the past, but most likely corner infieler or corner outfielder. I've seen him play hoops the best word I have to describe him is explosive.
  11. It is a salary dump. Pederson was making almost $10M. People can say the large market team's have endless money but it simply is not true. Teams do not like to operate over the cap in general and the Dodgers have been pretty good about working under it. And there are suppose to be 2 more prospects going to the Dodgers, plus the Dodgers sent along another prospect. I am a Joc Pederson fan, but I think it was a good trade for the Dodgers. Joc had one year remaining before free agency and became redundant with Betts joining the Dodgers. Combined with the Betts trade, they swapped 1 year of Pederson for 1 yr of Betts. 3 years of Stripling for 3 years of Price (and with Bosox paying half his salary). And 3 young players for Verducco and a minor league OFer. It will depend on what the Dodgers still get, but as loaded as their minors have been, I would expect that their scouting department finds at least one gem in the players they receive. Also, just saw where the trades are being held up because of Graterols medicals. Could it be Boston is getting cold feet and looking for a way to get out of the deal?
  12. Who are the 6 potential All Stars ? Yelich and Hader is a given. Woodruff and Hiura Last two would be Cain on a 2018 season quality. And Narvaez. Grandal moved to AL. You have Realmuto but who can fill #2? Narvaez posts a 120OPS+ that would have to put him in the backup Catcher talk.[/ And to add to that, 3 more former all-stars in Braun (declining, but coming off a good season), Garcia (2017) and Knebel. That is 7 players who have been all-stars and with the possible exception of Garcia who I really don't know much about, it is not like any of them were chosen because the team needed a representative. Pretty impressive whether Hiura or Narvaez become all stars this year or not.
  13. That's easy. $$$$$$$$ I don’t think there is much money to be made changing the name of a street. Thought we were still talking about the park, not the street. My bad.
  14. Can someone explain how a ballpark can inflate strikeouts. I understand how ballparks can influence batting average, doubles home runs etc. (Obviously Coors field does this because of altitude and the big outfield). Conversely, I get ballparks can suppress runs (Miami, San Diego). Other ballparks favor left-handers while some favor right-handers. But, strikeouts seem like they would be independent of ballpark. It seems to me the make-up of the home team - hitters that k often and pitchers that strikeout out a lot of batters - would lead to this statistic,
  15. Personally, I see no reason to go to 26 man rosters if the dh is going to be implemented. The vast majority of substitutions involve pinch hitting for the pitchers spot. Are there others sure, but they can be covered with a 25 man roster. Having said that, one way I could see it benefit smaller market teams is it might make it easier to platoon at multiple positions. A team might get good production from a position with 2 moderate salaried players vs. 1 "star". Take 13 position players - 8 starters leaves 5 position players on the bench. Assuming you want to keep someone on the bench in case of injury that leaves 4 players, or four positions you could be platooning.Maybe, even 5 positions if you remove the in case of injury scenario. Not as sexy, but perhaps as productive.
  16. they have? i honestly haven't paid that much attention to roster construction other than milwaukee's, so i'd welcome a source. i find it hard to fathom that an american league team would carry only 12 hitters for the majority of the season. Why would they carry more? They never need to pinch hit for the pitcher. Two guys on the bench in case of injuries seems like enough. Exception being a team that does a lot of platooning.
  17. Pink Floyds run of Meddle, DSOTM, Wish you were Here, Animals, The Wall, and The Final Cut was pretty good. I included 6 albums because I think many would feel the first or sixth album were a bit week. Regardless, Rush had a great run of success, and has the main lyricist Peart was responsible for a great deal of that success. I also was surprised to hear a different pronunciation of his name after all these years.
  18. I think the thought is that if the drinking age is 21, why shouldn't smoking etc. be the same? If you want to debate the drinking age, though, I can easily get on board. I was talking about this with my 16 year old. He said he thought it should be 25 for tobacco. pot alcohol, etc. He said research has shown that the brain is still developing until age 25.

    Pizza

I think 90% of restaurant fires fall into the above category. I am always suspicious when a restaurant burns down and then it doesn't rebuild/reopen. Especially when it is waterfront. There have been a couple near me. Get the insurance money and then sell waterfront property.

    Pizza

Anybody else remember Skis pizza in Whitewater. I believed it closed about 1982. Pizza by the slice. Definitely contributed greatly to my freshman 20 (or was that 30).
  21. For what it is worth. I don't believe Texas ever waived Cruz. I think he left via free agency with Orioles signing him.
  22. By far the best rock drummer I ever saw live. No one is even close. I just wish he had continued to make music after the deaths of his wife and daughter. I understand we all grieve differently, but music seems like it would have been a good outlet for his emotions and could have helped him through the healing process. Selfishly, I can't help but think of all the music he didn't write that we missed out on. Sad to hear of his passing, I had always held out hope for some sort of Rush reformation.

  24. I,d like to see one of Moose with the ball hitting the Rav4 in the background. They usually get businesses to sponsor the give aways, maybe Toyota would cover this one.
