I would be willing to bet that Melvin is getting Furcal now. Lopez is probably insurance because of Furcal's injury risk.

Well the obvious answer is that he stinks and people just fondly remember his half a season here that was largely meaningless in the grand scheme given the state of the pitching staff. Seeing as he's still better than Counsell and Farris I don't really care.
