  1. * Please no. Also, won't happen.* Capuano is the likely signing for that spot* None of those guys will be signed even though I agree that one should.
  2. Reyes, Rollins, Bartlett, Infante, and Scutaro should all be free agents.
  3. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/112198079.html In this interview he just says they both live in Orlando and see each other a few times an offseason. Doubt they are neighbors.
  4. Number 2 is what is going to happen. Not really any reason to talk about this anymore.
  5. I agree with you completely. I think we can get by with Gomez and Dickerson in CF pretty easily. I have a huge problem with Betancourt at SS. He's basically the same free-swinger that Escobar is, and he doesn't walk or get on base. Counsell can start some, but he won't be able to play enough to make up for Betancourt being terrible. He's also awful in the field. SS is where we need a plus defender, and Betancourt isn't gonna cut it.
  6. I think people are forgetting Manny Parra as the other lefty option in the pen. He looked good there at the end of last year, and I think he'll have a job there again this season. With Braddock and Parra, we'll have 2 lefties, neither of whom is a true loggy. I think we can get by with that, or just use one or the other as a loggy in certain situations. I don't see the need to bring anyone else in at this point. Especially if Cappy if also re-signed.
  7. In Melvin speak, that means the trade for him will be done within a week. But, in all seriousness, I don't see any chance of us getting Cameron.
  8. We weren't. Doug said that on the radio today. What he says to the public and what is the truth are two different things. The $2 million we got is obviously for the buyout next year. That tells me that he's here for a year because we have no other choice, and then he's gone.
  9. Really, we can probably get by with Betancourt and Counsell this year. Maybe we can go after a SS in free agency after this year. Reyes, Rollins, Bartlett, Infante, and possibly Scutaro will be out there.
  10. Really, what I would love to see happen is Gomez actually coming around and reaching his potential this year. Even if he could hit .270 with a good OBP, I think that would make a huge difference for our team.
  11. I wonder if Melvin is just deciding to sit with Betancourt and Counsell this year, and then go after a free agent SS next year. Reyes, Rollins, Bartlett, and Infante are all free agents after this year. Possibly Scutaro as well if his option isn't picked up.
  12. It sucks that we were likely forced to take on Betancourt in this deal. I would rather go with a guy like Orlando Cabrera than him, but that doesn't seem like it's an option now.
  13. I could see Melvin going after an OF possibly, because we have 5 currently in Braun, Hart, Gomez, Dickerson, and Boggs. I would think he'd at least bring in some competition for that 5th OF spot. I really don't see him adding any IFs though. I think the last spot will come down to Cruz and Gamel, with Gamel likely keeping the spot. Maybe a few guys who will compete for bullpen spots will also be added. The only locks I see for the pen are Axford, Braddock, Hawkins, Loe, and Parra. That leaves 2 more spots between guys like Egan, Kintzler, and McClendon. He might want to look at bringing in a few veterans on minor league deals to compete with those guys.
  14. I just see the competition being Betancourt, Counsell, and Cruz at SS. Counsell won't be viewed as the everyday guy though I guess, so I guess it might really be Betancourt and Cruz for one spot. I'm pretty sure we'd just eat Betancourt's contract if he comes out in ST and sucks, or Cruz out plays him by a lot. That could happen, but I see it being Betancourt and Counsell at SS this year, and Cruz as insurance.
  15. With these trades I definitely see Doug being the leading candidate for Executive of the Year. That's assuming nothing catastrophic happens to ruin our season.
  16. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/112196079.html Melvin's interview makes it sound like no one will be added.
  17. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/112196079.html Melvin's press interview. Sounds like our roster is pretty much set. Betancourt at SS and Gomez in CF.
  18. Edmonds is done and always injured, and we have Dickerson. So, no.
  19. I would. Also, it's Game 4, not 3. We play on March 31st then have an off day, then play 2 more. It'll go Greinke, Gallardo, Wolf on the road. That way we can show off one of our new acquisitions, which would be Marcum, in the home opener.
  20. Isn't it kind of a shot to Greinke too if you don't start him opening day? The guy waived his no-trade clause to come here, and is a Cy Young award winner. Plus, we traded what many fans will see as "a lot" for him. So I can definitely see us starting Greinke opening day.
  21. Yeah, I posted this in the rumor thread. She was also a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
  22. Couldn't be happier about this trade. Don't really see Escobar being anything other than average offensively, Cain could be good, but he's never going to be great. Odorizzi might be the biggest loss, because I think Jeffress is still a question mark. Will be interesting to see if KC starts him or not. The main point is that we got a Cy Young pitcher in Zack Greinke! And our rotation is now Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Wolf, Narveson. Sounds like a win to me!
  23. Alright guys, found another upside to this trade. Greinke has a hot wife. Former Miss Daytona Beach and Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/431/025/emily_kuchar_hot_girl_featured_1_0_display_image.jpg?1286403213
  24. My thoughts exactly. I will miss Cain, but really he doesn't seem like a slam dunk prospect to me. Really to me, not giving up both Rogers and Jeffress makes this trade a big win.
  25. If this happens, I will be extremely happy. Getting Greinke makes us immediate favorites to win our division in my opinion. That makes it worth it to me. I'm hungry for some more playoff action.
