    I really do get the service time argument, but it's pretty obvious to see what the Brewers are trying to do here. They want to see what he can do for two months to see if he's an everyday option in 2013. There's definitely something to be said for that too, because if he's ready that takes away a big offseason need. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do for the rest of this season.

    Yeah, if I were spending that kind of money on a reliever, it certainly wouldn't be K-Rod. There's no way I'd bring him back at this point. Put that money to better use. Although, I'm not sure K-Rod will even get $4 million at this point.

    Maldonado has 3 throwing errors in one game. Never thought I'd say that. And Molina has two stolen bases on Maldonado. That's just as weird.

    Apparently it was the Dodgers, and a trade isn't likely. And he can block being let go to the team as well. I read that somewhere.

    I would have to think most people won't fall for this one since Maldonado can just be optioned.

    If that hasn't changed then Cliff Lee isn't going anywhere. There's no way they'll get someone to take on that entire contract, and also give up the prospects they want in return.

    I think they'd pull him back if he got claimed. He still has a lot of value. They could get something for him if they just kick in money. Gotta think they'd rather do that then just let him go, and get nothing in return.

    I hope Gomez keeps playing really well, because that will hopefully cause Melvin and Mark A to get rid of any thoughts they had of going after Hamilton.

    I don't see why they'd call him up just to have him play off the bench. Gotta think he'll get playing time. Michael Young has really been struggling, and provides no power whatsoever. I am just going off of what Daniels said about him being brought up to provide power to the bench. Just read that Ron Washington said he'll start against LHP.

    Ok, we may have the prospects. Better wording would be that I don't think we can afford to, nor should we, give them up for Cliff Lee and that contract.

    If by put in a bid you mean claim him, then heck no. No one is gonna risk claiming him. That's a massive contract to risk being saddled with. He'll clear, and Philly will need to kick in quite a bit of money to be able to trade him if they want a decent return. And no, we won't trade for him either. We don't have the prospects to trade, or the money to afford him.

    FWIW, Cliff Lee was placed on waivers today and it's been well publicized. So I'd assume we'll know if Marcum goes on, since he'd be one of the best available pitchers.

    I think the rule is that 7 players can be placed on waivers per day, per team. So there's a chance that a lot of our players already passed through. I'm not sure if players on the DL can or not though. May have to wait until Marcum is activated to try passing him through.

    Scott Miller ‏@ScottMCBS #Rangers purchase contract of Mike Olt per @Sullivan_Ranger Just saw this. Thought it was worth discussing. Probably has a lot to do with why Olt was off the table in all trade discussions.
