  2. It is probably a good thing that brewerfan doesn't have a "like" button or else I would be abusing it right now. Incredible! Now A-Ram on 3rd with only 1 out!
  3. Home run to tie it up! The Cubbies can finish them off in extras now!
  4. For once I am glad that I have never been able to get that song out of my head ever since I heard it for the first time. It's Gonna Happen!
  5. If 10-game holders don't "officially" get playoff tickets, you might want to try calling your ticket rep. If you explain that you thought they were included and tell him about the unused tickets, how playoff tickets was a big reason you bought it, etc then maybe he'll be able to "scrape up" some tickets for you. My plan (as someone who buys into a full season package for 10 games and doesn't have access to playoff tickets) is to (a) enter the lottery, or (b) show up at every playoff game and buy tickets for near face value in the parking lot.
  6. Leap-frogging the Dodgers! I feel as though the Brewers are capable of keeping this up but the Cardinals are going to lose at some point!
  7. I also need a Ramirez and am actually in need of the Uecker bobble as well. I don't want the alternate Uecker, just the regular one.
  8. Was everything charged at once? For some reason I have it in my head that last year, WS tickets weren't charged until the Brewers made the NLCS
  9. From what I seem to remember, playoff tickets are charged in segments (either for each separate round or for a couple rounds at once). So I don't remember the upfront investment being all that much relative to what all the tickets might end up costing (of course, it depends on what kind of seats you have).
  10. If the Brewers had signed Sheets to a 3-year deal for $3 million per about 2 months ago, they'd be looking like geniuses right now...
  11. If it were me going (and coming from Milwaukee), I'd take the yellow line. It's one of the more cost-effective options as you only pay $2.25 each way for the whole train ride from there to Wrigley. It's about an hour and a half drive from Milwaukee straight down 94 (and right off the freeway) to the yellow line. From there it's probably about 45 minutes of train riding until the stop for Wrigley. The purple line would also be an option, though I tried taking that back in June when the Brewers were playing the Sox and ran into an issue where part of the track was out of service due to maintenance/construction, so I had to get off the train, get on a bus, then get back on the train at Howard (which significantly added to my travel time and created a huge hassle). I'm not sure if that part of the Purple Line is still closed or not.
  12. 1. Game 5 of 2011 NLDS 2. Sept 28th, 2008 - the Wild Card clincher vs the Cubs 3. Other playoff wins from 2008 and 2011 4. May 13th, 2006: Derrick Turnbow bobblehead night. Brewers were down 8-4, bottom 8. Corey Koskie hit a 3-run shot, and on the next pitch Damian Miller hit another one to tie it up. That paved the way for Turnbow to come in for the top of the 9th in a tie game on his own bobblehead night... only to lose the game. (bad ending, but incredibly exciting) 5. July 28, 2008: Brewers vs Cubs to break a first-place tie. It was the most electric I had seen Miller Park up to that point (unfortunately we got swept that series...) 6. The play that gave Corey Koskie his career-ending concussion (the play was incredible if I'm remembering it correctly, but obviously the results for Koskie were not). I believe Koskie was drifting back into LF to catch a pop-up. He fell while trying to catch the ball. As he hit the ground, the ball popped up out of his glove to be caught by (Bill Hall?). 7. I remember a game somewhere in the 2006-2007 range when a guy, while holding a child in one arm, reached over the railing at the front of the loge level with his other arm to bare-hand a foul ball. 8. July 30, 2008: Nothing special other than the fact that it was the 17th consecutive home game that I attended.
  13. To be fair, this isn't TWC's fault exactly. They are required by law to carry over the air broadcasts. Hearst Television (WISN's parent company) wants more money for their stations and won't allow TWC to carry them. I know the issue was about the cost TWC would pay Hearst to carry WISN, and each side blames the other over the blackout, and it's kind of a moot point because they reached an agreement tonight anyways. But how was TWC able to get around carrying WISN for a week if they're legally required to carry over-the-air broadcasts?
  14. I am strongly considering committing to one, but I was hoping to wait and see the mockup of what it will look like first. Any idea what the status is on that?
  15. As others have mentioned, blown saves are a pretty much useless stat for evaluating the situation. Another variable to consider is this: If we blow lead in the 7th inning, you can basically "expect" (from a probabilistic perspective) that the Brewers will score 1.5 runs in that span... so the bullpen giving up 1 run in that span shouldn't necessarily even count against them as a game that they cost us. While the bullpen has certainly been a problem, "single handedly" is a stretch at best in my opinion.
  16. The "whatever Ron said" statement is a bit weird. But from what I gathered this wasn't necessarily Greinke asking for a start off to "recharge his batteries", so I feel like either he's pissed that he's sitting, or there's something else (a trade) going on.
  17. No WISN on Time Warner. I obviously don't watch it that much as I only found out about it on Saturday, but really? How can a cable network not carry an OVER-THE-AIR channel? I can get it for free with an antenna but not by paying? I understand how these things work, but it's just ridiculous... this isn't some expensive premium channel like HBO that we're talking about.
  18. I'm going to be up for the game this Saturday night and might be trying to get autographs (largely would be going after Lucroy). I know others have gotten autographs up there before, so does anyone have any tips or any advice for the following questions? 1) What's the best approach / what gives you the best accessibility to players - before games? after games? batting practice? 2) Where do the players enter/leave the stadium? 3) How early do the players arrive at the stadium? 4) I see the gates open 1.5 hours before the game - does this mean that T-Rats batting practice is typically done before the doors open? Any tips would be much appreciated as I was a young kid the last time I went to a Rattlers game. Thanks!
  19. Yes, it does have a much larger effect, but to me that's all the more reason for a pitcher to watch how he acts. A pitcher/ace shouldn't be allowed more leeway than a position player. Long story short, I agree Greinke didn't deserve to be tossed, but like he said he did something stupid and it's hard to lay that on the umpire.
  20. I'm still bothered by how my very modest high school basketball career ended on an officials call That is crazy for a high school game. Standard high school rules don't even allow an official to give a technical foul to a fan - the only thing they can do them is have the fan ejected. It happened Saturday when the umpire misinterpreted Greinke's actions and tossed a starting pitcher in the first inning. I didn't see the play, but Greinke admitted after the fact that he shouldn't have spiked the ball and the he put his team in a bad spot: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/161650595.html "I don't blame the umpire for what he did. I didn't mean it toward him; I thought the guy was safe. But I shouldn't have done that." Reading intentions isn't always easy, and when a player throws a tantrum on the field, they shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt IMO. Was it the wrong call to toss Greinke? Yes, but I'm not sure I'd classify it as an umpire losing perspective.
  21. I got one for free from a Brewers employee. Walked into the team store sometime in mid-May (I think) and asked an employee if they were selling any highlight DVDs. He said they weren't selling them but gave me the last extra copy he had from the SGA. (this wasn't a normal store worker but a manager type with an office in back). If you're at a game you might want to give that a shot, otherwise ebay may be the way to go.
  22. Putting up hangdog performances since 2007
  23. Not sure if anyone goes there anymore, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the current situation. I tried after the game yesterday at the players' parking lot for the first (and only) time this year. No one had signed by the time about half the team was out, and then there was a rumor going around the "regulars" that the players were told no longer to sign out there. I didn't put a whole lot of stock in it because I've heard those kinds of "conspiracy" theories before, but then I got confirmation later. I was the only one left by this point, but when I asked John Axford to sign he apologized and said they couldn't anymore due to security issues. So for anyone who had thought about going to try to get autographs before or after a game, don't bother.
  24. My short list of stadiums I've attended games in: 1. Miller Park. Maybe bias. 2. Busch Stadium (new one) - a nice place to watch a game in downtown St. Louis with the arch in the background. The location is nice with bars nearby. 3. Kauffman Stadium - nice-looking stadium with the fountains out in center field. A very laid-back place to watch a game. My brother and I even sat down in the first row just because the seats were empty. 4. Wrigley Field - a total dump IMO. If it weren't such an old park with the history it has, I'd say it should be torn down. The neighborhood surrounding it is kind of neat, but the stadium itself is small, has cramped/narrow concourses, is somewhat difficult to get to, has too many obstructed view seats, and is totally out of date if you ask me. The stadium looks far nicer on TV than in person if you ask me. Like I said though, the neighborhood is alright, between the rooftop seats and the HR balls going onto Waveland/Sheffield.
  25. I feel like none of those situations would ever happen even if the DH was tied to the pitcher, because you'd put a more expendable player at DH and put your best hitters in the actual lineup. I think the David Ortiz's of the world would be out of a job (or would be making substantially less money due to the defensive liability) before teams regularly put their best hitter as the DH under the hypothetical siuation.
