  1. good pick up, but between him and hoffman thats a pretty old bullpen
  2. wasn't there alot of talk about him at the deadline last season? wouldn't be a bad pick up for mid level prospects or maybe even just cash.
  3. mccarthy makes me alot more excited then maine. the injuries with maine are a problem but he's still an upgrade over suppan.
  4. i really want a hockey jersey if you go through 101. i also might have to wait until after the first of the year though.
  5. i might try to make this. i got tickets from my district manager from work for the company suite for this game(on my birthday). will be nice to have catered food, soda, and beer on works dime. cant wait!!!
  6. "I would expect a trade of something like Gamel, Scarpetta/Odorizzi, Salome, and Dykstra/Green/Wooten/Brewer would be close to what the Marlins would get in return for Johnson. The Marlins will get an A prospect, a B prospect, a lower level A/B prospect, along with some high upside prospects that haven't really figured it out yet. " i think that might be a little extreme. thatw way more then we gave up for cc and more then the mets gave up for santana. without a new contract that for 2 years of johnson, i believe. yeah, no way i'd do this
  7. i dont think that gallardo is a good comparison. the marlins are looking to shed payroll ad that is why they are unwilling to give him an extremely reasonable offer. i dont think cain, parra, and salome is quite enough but those 3 plus maybe taylor green might be.as for getting edwin jackson i'd give more for johnson. how about these trade scenariosjohnson- cain, salome, green + jackson- mcgehee, gindle, pitching prospect,+ add parra for which ever team needs ml ready pitching, and low level high end pitching prospect to the other. this wouldnt hurt the big league team much but would help incredibly
  8. here are my choices for tonight Paulo Thiago vs. Jacob Volkmann - thiago 2nd rd by sub Josh Koscheck vs Anthony Johnson- johnson 1st tko tito ortiz vs forrest griffin- griffin by decision
  9. if you 2 want to pm my your choices for tonight, we can do a just for fun one tonight, or i'd be willing to throw a random auto or game used card, atleast until more people get in on this.
  10. thats one....anyone else
  11. i figured i might be able to get a fantasy league going for ufc ppvs. kinda thinking on a point system for at least the 3 main fights per ufc events (1 pt for correct winner, 1 for round, and 1 for result(ko, tko, submission, decision). anyone interested in getting this started. i figured maybe everyone participating could donate a piece of memorabilia to the winner and we'd take turns doing so. if interested lmk- kevin
  12. i think i'd take mazzaro of those 4
  13. actually nevermind this, they got brett wallace in that holliday trade so they will most likely be looking for some kind of stop-gap
  14. i'd rather it be mcgehee since i've spent too much on gamels autos, but oakland is looking for a third baseman. if they would part with either trevor cahill or brett anderson (gamel might be able to do it alone, mcgehee we'd probably have to build on) i'd make the trade in a heart beat. either of those 2 along side gallardo would be really good for along time. i doubt oakland would do it since they go soo well together but i'd give it a shot.
  15. mlbtr had a post saying that the tigers are open to offers for edwin jackson. it also said the tigers would be looking for a rh bat. maybe if we package hart with a couple low level pitchers/ 1 pitcher and a position player we might be able to pull this off. i'm sure we saw his true colors in the second half last season but his first half was crazy good, maybe it wasn't a fluke. i think he might be worth the risk since he is still very young.
  16. reed johnson?
  17. maybe i just have a little too big of a man crush on the guy but i would love the brewers to go after mark derosa. he's the ultimate utility player and from the sounds of it he wont cost all that much. pitching is of course first priority but i think he can really help this team. any thoughts?
  18. both from 2009 i have extras of the kyle weaver and kyle murphey bobbles given out by the snappers. i know not too many people outside of beloit have a need for them but i'm sure many of you are going for all beloit bobbles. lmk- kevin
  19. mlbtr had a post that boston was going after jj and that the brewers were asking for bucholz or dan bard but boston would only give up mike bowden. what was doug thinking assuming he could get either of those 2? i think i would have taken bowden over gomez.
  20. i highly doubt that bay is an option, he will be way too expensive and that would be money better spent on pitching. i could see sheets coming back and maybe sign jon garland. garland should do better than looper and should be pretty signable. maybe i was just a really big fan of his in chicago and hope he can be better than he was on the angels and diamondbacks. gomez should be good, he'll be alot cheaper than cameron and is pretty good defensively and has GREAT speed. proto lead off hitter( even though i thought we already had 2 of those). here is what i figure the line up to be gomez weeks braun fielder gamel/ mcgehee (whichever one we dont trade, and it better be for young pitching) hart/ whomever is in right by trade or f/a catcher(lucroy)/ escobar catcher(anyone else)/ esco pitcher probably wouldnt be that bad, but the hitting wasnt too much of a problem last year
  21. i would REALLY like a hardy for brian duensing, but i'd think thatit might have to include another player from both sides like maybe hart and revere.
  22. i saw one sell a couple weeks ago for around 80
  23. i like lopez alot and really hope he is back next year.
  24. but with halladay i think its the same situation that we had with sabathia. is it really worth selling the farm for one year on someone we have NO CHANCE on resigning? i dont think so, it would be a really hefty price. i never think it is good for a smaller market team to make these trades.
  25. i think this a little too obvious for it not to happen. Toronto is going to need a short stop with scutero (sp?) leaving in fa and they do have some good young starting pitching. what do you guys think we can get out of them? i'm sure romero is out of the question but how about brett cecil and brad mills? both are lefties which we REALLY need and both have alot of up side. or maybe we could get romero if we include salome since they really need a catcher as well.
