  1. Also, Grayson is dirty. That specific play is fairly meh to me. A hard flagrant foul but there was honestly nothing about it that made me go "Wow, what a nasty play." I know exactly who Grayson Allen is and what he's about, but the play in question is kind of meh to me.
  2. If you guys weren't Bucks fans, and imagine for a second our lineup is playing in, say, Boston ... you would feel like you've most likely alway felt about the NBA; that you know Boston is the best team in the conference and they will turn on an extra gear when they have to. It's just not fun to watch your own team jog through the regular season, so it creates heightened anxiety.
  3. Might make me watch the Badgers for once if it happens.
  4. I miscounted the years he's been in the league, but there is still an idea out there (some writer floated it immediately after loss) that trading Love would bring a pick back that could be used to cheaply add a contributor to the team as they fight cap issues. Even if that contributor only played ST, that is something they could use right now.
  5. I don't know about that. They seemed pretty content with moving on from him not too long ago. I think they are in a completely different spot this year vs. last. Let's say Rodgers does stay. Love has to be dealt, no? What would he fetch? A 4th? At that point is he worth just keeping for a year as the backup QB?
  6. That one might have some merit as I haven't seen anything but high praise for Leftwich as a coach, but it sure feels like they make hiring decisions like a local high school.
  7. It may be mandatory to get another team's QB in return to make the financials work. However, after a few days of quotes, I'm beginning to think the Packers are going to wave their magic cap wand around and keep Rodgers in town. Or at least try hard to do so.
  8. I thought Don't Look Up stunk. Just way too on the nose and starts to come off as smug and preachy. The Lost Daughter was just WAY too slow.
  9. The Hall is full of "known cheaters" and even more jerks. I don't really lose a second of sleep over any player not making the hall. So on that level I couldn't care less. But there's a place claiming to honor the best players without Bonds (one of the best hitters ever before any cheating occurred), Pete Rose and Roger Clemens...while Harold Baines, he of the career WAR 10 below Ryan Braun, resides there because he has friends on the veteran committee. If they're going to be morality police, they should probably create some standards and not just arbitrarily decide which cheaters and jerks get a pass. Oh, and probably remove the commissioner who resided over all this cheating and allowed it to proceed because it was great for the sport at the time.
  10. I don't care too much about any HOF but no Bonds and Clemens feels like a joke. I knew it was coming, but it's a joke. Bonds was an all-timer before any drugs. It is basically the Hall of Very Good Who Were Also Kind to BBWAA. This cheating is ok, this cheating is not...snore, whatever.
  11. I think a lot of people were, myself included. He was maybe the biggest disappointment of the season, somewhere with Savage and Keke. Toward the end of last season he looked like a possible breakout player this year. I'm not sure it's going to happen for him. It feels like ESB, Lazard and MVS have been on the team for 8 years.
  12. If Tampa sucks, so be it. They got exactly what they set out to do when they brought Brady in. Mission accomplished. They would be doing the right thing to white flag it and suck with their trophy in hand.
  13. The list of WRs who look like straight garbage early in their careers and become really good is 500 miles long. This place in particular consistently ignores this. Hot garbage was a term used often to describe Davante Adams. It took Jordy Nelson 4 years to have 600 yards. And before anyone says "Greg Jennings was there," well, so is Davante Adams.
  14. Forgot about Funchess. I wonder what he could have been on this team.
  15. The idea of Cobb was arguably fine. History said he would not be able to stay on the field and during the most important part of the year, that's exactly what happened.
  16. If Love is decent he'll be fine with whoever is playing WR because young QBs don't have the luxury of having little buddies. They have to throw to who is there. There is a passage about this in the Favre biography in regards to, funny enough, Aaron Rodgers. "Favre was of a different era. Rodgers was now. Favre had “his” guys. Rodgers just threw the ball. When he arrived in camp, Chris Samp, a rookie free agent wide receiver from Winona State, couldn’t wait to work with his hero, ol’ No. 4. “He was such a disappointment to me,” said Samp. “If it was his turn in the quarterback rotation and he saw me at wide receiver, he’d wave Rodgers in instead of throwing to me. Just because I was no one. It wasn’t just me. He had favorites." What kind of development process is that? Rodgers may not be doing this to such an extreme but I'm not all convinced their WRs are as useless as some want to think. Rodgers is a great player but was Randall Cobb really worth having on the roster? How many reps did someone else miss during the first 2 months of the year?
  17. I never actually realized he was Robert Paulson until he died and that line started showing up everywhere. All this time I thought that actor was just some guy. And I've probably seen the movie 40 times.
  18. You can reach a Super Bowl with a worse roster though. I say this every year, but luck plays an enormous role in the whole thing. Tom Brady has skewed that a lot. You could replay Saturday's game 10 times and win maybe 8. It's the cruel nature of sport. I think it is pretty silly to wonder why they'd want him back; he's great, of course they want him back. I get the whole stale aspect of it though. And I said in another post that my hope is that they all move on and he wins one somewhere else. But if he were to play here again, they are likely a playoff team and as we have seen in 2010, and with the Giants, and the 49ers...sometimes that is all you have to be. In regards to Drayton, he needs to be fired. I'm on record saying I think this is more roster construction (backup OL, backup TE taking up valuable ST spots) but the fact we had fewer blockers than they had rushers on one side the FG, then did it again after a stoppage in play is absolutely unreal. Lastly, I just want to make a quick, worthless point...the 49ers playoff thing is played out. Before Saturday, the Packers had no business winning a single one of those games against them. And they nearly did beat a vastly better team in '13. These losses used to bust me up for weeks. At some point I accepted it for what it is, a game that can be fun to watch but most likely will not break your way in the end. I never thought the Bucks would pull it off for me to witness...now, I miss a good number of Packers games every year and just glimpse at the recap. If I have something better to do, I do it. It is simply not worth allowing this to take over your life in such a detrimental way. And approaching it that way makes the losing a lot easier to handle.
  19. I think the lack of weapons argument has run its course. The Packers roster is fine. It was better than fine. Frankly it was stacked this year. You can't have an all-pro at every spot on the field. The team was plenty good enough, including the pass catchers. I've noticed this "no secondary WR" thing caught new legs once the "get him a defense" thing couldn't be applied anymore. Investing somewhere always means you can't somewhere else. When the QB is this good it seems like an acceptable philosophy that all the WRs don't have to be incredible... especially when the top dog is literally the best one in the league. It's just old for me at this point. A worn out, false narrative. They blew it. It was not due to a lack of talent at WR or anywhere else.
  20. I am not in love with the idea of extending Adams again regardless of who the QB is. The third contract is seldom good for the team. He most likely washes out before it expires and they are left with a couple years of more albatross. It's hard to envision a scenario in which they have Rodgers but not Adams. It's another layer of complication to the whole thing. I would rather have Rodgers through 2024 than I would extend Adams. I think both are gone, but a silver lining for me of Rodgers leaving is that they get an out from being crucified for not paying Adams. I'm sure he'll have a fine season next year, maybe two. But I just don't see it as a wise investment from where they are probably standing.
  21. I think it's all easier said that done. Any angled kick is a risk to go out of bounds and become fodder for "what on Earth were they thinking." Any higher than normal kick is a risk to get overrun by the kickoff team, or throw off the timing, and set up a dangerous return. Maybe you are right, maybe the squib is right...but to me whole situation smacks of anything they did was likely to get criticized as the wrong kickoff if they lost the game. 13 seconds at the 25 is extremely high percentage for the defense...especially the #1 defense. They played to their strength and it didn't work.
  22. In hindsight then, they probably should have mauled them anyway and hoped it wasn't called The squib kickoff may have worked better for them but IDK...the kickoff return is really your best shot at the open field in that situation...it is possibly your best chance to score and get some green space to work with. Not a popular opinion, but I'm almost in favor of the super boot out of bounds when you can do it. Their defense should have been able to hold them for 13 seconds. Really, one play, because if the first play goes for nothing, you're most likely down to the lateral circus play. I don't think the kickoff was really all that egregious, personally.
  23. Sort of what I was getting at. This falls under the "no new information" evaluation that has already been levied. To provide actual value to a more dedicated fan, coverage of the minors, of which there is basically none, would be necessary.
  24. Can't see a way he's in GB unless he redoes contract and does "use the money elsewhere" type deal. He's not going to do that, it's not his make-up. And I think that is perfectly fine and respectable being at the top of one's profession. I was confident in GB's chance going in, right before the Lewis fumble about 99% certain it was going to be easy. However even once we stopped them after the fumble and couldn't score, my panic set in. And at some point texted my brother, 'we're playing within the catastrophe zone' - my little name for when the game that feels stable is flipped upside down on one play. You are always in trouble if you're playing within that margin for error. I don't want him to come back, and it's not because I dislike him. It's just time. We had 2, sort of 3 cracks at this with vet Rodgers. We tried really hard, put together a good team. It's time for both parties to mix it up. For me it's a more significant version of releasing Brandon Bostick. It's arguably unfair to release a guy due to one play, but I just think the divorce has to happen to move on from this 'close but no cigar' cloud that is hovering over this team. I don't think it is any on party's fault, but it just seems to best to end it.
  25. I highly doubt he is going to do that. I anticipate that both parties know what's going down within 1-2 weeks and they wait a while to make it official. I think it is time to move on, though I have zero animosity toward Rodgers. It is time to find out what, if anything, you have in Jordan Love, and the only way to do that is to hand him a job and give him a summer, then a year to grow. They'll have to add a veteran QB but until he's afforded that chance, nobody knows yet what he can be. And if he's middling, maybe that is OK. There are ways to win that don't involve superstar QBs. In my ideal scenario, they trade Rodgers for what they can, release a bunch of guys, start getting the financials in order, and put together an 8-win season while Rodgers wins a Super Bowl for somebody else. Maybe Love is an adequate starter and you can make a run at this thing within a few seasons, with a defensive-minded roster and ball-control offense. I'm not too hung up on the return or what the roster is next year though. It is just time for everybody to move on.
