I think you do whatever combo of pitchers is necessary to win this game, without any regard for the other games. You just have to win this game, you have to beat this team specifically and get it in their heads they can beat them. -

No, I make it sound like it's reasonable for people to have high expectations of what is supposed to be the best pitcher in baseball. Not consecutive starts where he's chased and his location is all over the place. It can be called a bad start and also one he managed from going off the rails. We don't have to say it was good though.

If this is the excuse, then you're not a top level guy, which everyone knows he absolutely is. When you skip to the NLDS every team you're facing is really good. You have to play well against those teams if you're among the elite. We can't excuse every shaky start by just saying it's the playoffs so it's ok.

And May only gave up two. He wasn't "fine." He was below average by his own standards and couldn't find the zone but gutty enough to prevent us from losing the game. If he has another start like that, the off-season narrative will be that he wasn't very good in the playoffs. That was the kind of start you pray to get from Jhoulys Chacin.

Needed way more than that from Miz. You're not Yovani Gallardo you're going to win the Cy Young.

Smoltz is good, you can always tell he just loved the game and definitely gives the Brewers love.

It's a demanding expectation but when you win Cy Young it kind of isn't. It's the biggest start of the year and you need more than 4 innings at 90 pitches. The Dodgers only run is the direct result of a 4-pitch leadoff walk. At least make them earn it. I simultaneously understand we can't expect the guy to be perfect while being kinda meh on the start.

Not sure I buy that unless there's something I don't know about his bat. Until the Brewers hit this staff, which they couldn't do well before he got there, I think the valley between the two is substantial.

It isn't "doomsday" to point out that giving up 1 or 20 runs doesn't matter if you score 0.

1-0 was ball game in series last year. Remains my biggest concern with this series.

Dak getting an Uber driver tossed is peak Cowboys. I'd expect the guy to get tossed in that setting, but the QB going out of his way to make sure it happens seconds after the game says a lot about the coddling in Dallas. Soft team, Certain players would just go to the media and say yeah, deserved, it was embarrassing. Not anyone in Dallas.

I think the letters are fine except for one thing - don't let the media see them. I think it works much better as an in-house thing, with a bunch of people who knew the guy. When the whole world sees it, it comes off as corny. Thank God he hasn't used AI to have Uecker read it. Yet.

Game 1 is 7:08 pm. My guess is same time for Game 2. As for the series, my head says the Dodgers win in 5 or 6. We'll see. I really want to believe.

Hmmm I'm not sure I agree with that. We had two major moments where we failed to take control. One was Game 2, ahead 1-0 in the series and 3-0 in the 7th, before Jeffress came in and did Jeffress things. We cleaned up Game 3, then took Game 4 to 13 innings before losing. That was the death blow. We get either one of those games and I do think we go to the World Series. Going back to MKE at 3-2 would have been nice. I would agree that by the time it swung back to MKE, it was really a pipe dream, but I was clinging to that hope. My silver lining has always been that we would have lost the WS. That Boston team may have been the best ever. Edit: I just realize you meant the game didn't reach the apex.

Is it really so much to ask that the Dodgers just fall flat like they did constantly from 2015ish-2023 and get swept?

I don't have the stats to back it up but it seemed like a good chunk of those LOB were guys on 1st base with 2 outs etc. There were a couple situations where we loaded them up and did nothing or stranded a leadoff guy on 2nd, but it generally felt like they weren't high-percentage scenarios. I just felt watching the games that I was not really expecting us to get them across most of the time.

Didn't know anything about this guy but figured he had to have a wrestling background to be that small and get here, and sure enough, undefeated HS champion at 285. I bet he's fine. Looks like he has excelled everywhere he's been but continually gets discarded because he isn't 6'3. The wrestling will serve him well.

Because if they win, it's likely in at least 6 games. There could be a 13-inning game. It would be lovely if he never pitches, I just don't think it's likely. There is probably going to be at least one low or medium leverage situation where they turn to him due to fatigue of others. Really doubt they have 3-4 pitchers that never play.

I think the calls for May to be dropped are kind of just throwing stuff at the wall. He sucks, and I hope he doesn't pitch, but they're probably going to need something out of him to win. Even if it's just 2 innings, but something.
