  1. Handoff to Melton worked so you can count on MLF running that 18 more times this year.
  2. Their entire WR group is just guys and I've been saying it for years. Couldn't stand listening to people claim we had the deepest WR group in the league the last two seasons. 3-4 average receivers isn't depth.
  3. Yeah I'm waffling a lot between shades of 2010 with the losing close games, good defense and offensive struggles, and just giving up on this slopfest completely.
  4. Can't say I envy what they're having to do at kicker. That position is such a rollercoaster. Havrisik just doesn't have the track record to be fully confident in him, so that could have backfired rapidly had they gone that route. McManus does have the track record, but has been pretty bad. I don't know how hurt he is, that's the million dollar question. If he's hurt, he should have been on the IR a while ago, but he insists he isn't. I would like to know why we kicked a 64-yard FG with a guy who isn't healthy. I'm not sure how "costly" it really is when the spot would have been occupied by some reserve ILB who plays special teams anyway. It's been a bit of a circus, but there's so much wrong with this team it's buried a bit down the list. There are so many areas of this team that lack direction.
  5. I dunno. At 5-1-1 I still thought the Packers were overrated and their offense had major issues. I think the Packers are the same decent team as last year, but not anything special. The Bears may be the same class, but the difference is that one has a strong defense and IMO that will end up being the differentiator. It's not even really fluke wins that have me question the Bears though, it's their defense. Their pass rush in particular is atrocious.
  6. They'll probably make the playoffs because there coincidentally happens to be a drop off after 7 teams. PHI SEA DET TB LAR GB SF CHI No one outside of those 8 will make it. The Bears, putting together a nice season, but their defense is not good, the pass rush in particular is very bad, and they have been winning some very fluky games. They are a strong candidate for falling off. SF plays a much softer 2nd half than CHI. I think GB will finish 10-6-1, good enough for 6/7. It's certainly possible we're the odd team out, and those two GB/CHI games may very well be for the 7 seed. Visiting Philly in the WC as a 7 again would be just beautiful. That would be a good way to set Matt off to sea.
  7. McCarthy was 7-9 with Hundley playing most of the season. The expectation for his last season was very much that they were going to be competitive. So it's a bit of a disingenuous comparison. He was fired for that season's failure, not because of the Hundley results the year before.
  8. Yeah that is not good. You need to be at 4, and want to be around 4.4. I don't doubt that Matt is very happy with 3.5, that would allow for a very nice 23-play drive from the 20 to the end zone. One of the elephants in the room this season, and I'm fully aware that our OL is not good, is that Emmanuel Wilson has just been more efficient than Jacobs. Just on the eye test, he runs more explosively. Our long rush this year is 25 yards by Jordan Love. We have zero big play-making in this offense.
  9. The Bears aren't going away. They have rebuilt the team, they may end up behind the Packers in the standings, but Williams is going to be a stable QB there for a long time and they invested in protecting him this year, that is the difference. Their defense is bad, they don't get to the QB at all, but they have flipped the script on their formula. There isn't a game on the Packers schedule I'd put money on. Even this weekend has all the makings of a feel-good story where the new coach inspires his struggling team. I'd also remind everyone that the Giants aren't a terrible team, they have led in 4 of these losses by 10+ pts. The Packers, clearly, can be beaten by anybody.
  10. Well that is emblematic of the whole thing. LaFleur doesn't have a strategy. Everything he does is reactionary based on what he's feeling in the moment, and unfortunately he is usually feeling stupid. He also has no ability to deviate from his script based on game flow. You can take a look at Sirianni last night for the contrast. After the fumble/stop (I can't remember which it was), it was clear he was taking a kill shot on the long touchdown pass. Not a doubt in my mind that MLF goes into R-R-P-punt in that scenario with a 3-pt lead. On the 4th and 6, there was no hesitation to go for it. Offense stayed on the field. He clearly decided when they got the ball that it was 4-down territory. Contrary to what everyone's saying, them going for it on 4th and 6 was the right decision IMO; a punt into the end zone does nothing, you potentially trade 14 yards of field position. I'm not sure why they chucked it to the end zone, and didn't just run a favorite play for 6 yards, but it was clearly pre-determined that was going to be move.
  11. Average points allowed across 3 losses: 13 Our PF-PA in those games is 13-10. Ridiculous statistic for an "offensive-minded" HC. But yeah, go EPA!
  12. If you read the tea leaves from Policy, Gute is sharing the hot seat with Matt.
  13. He was fired at 4-7-1 with the team virtually eliminated from the playoffs. 5-5-1 won't do that, for the simple reality that swapping your HC in week 13 isn't going to make anything better. At 5-5-1, your best bet is just to ride it out. I think they are going to get annihilated on Thanksgiving though.
  14. NFL coach getting fired while sitting in playoff position doesn't really happen. It's too difficult to install a new system and do anything with it midyear. The guys getting canned are always 2-8. It's just not productive to fire him now, unless they end up sitting 5-10-1.
  15. I don't think anything happens mid season but I think he's a sitting duck. The team stinks, it's not a contending team, which was the big push. They will want to see who is available. A guy just being a solid coordinator doesn't make him a good HC. Maybe an actual QB guru, not a guy pretending to be one.
  16. Truly baffling and I am dying to hear his idiotic reasoning. The FG was the equivalent of a kneel down.
  17. I could be wrong, but I believe Love's biggest problem is Matt LaFleur. Everyone has seen how good Love is capable of looking for prolonged stretches. This offense is stale, uncreative, and not suited to his strengths.
  18. Yeah I think the playoffs are a huge assumption. We are looking up at Detroit and Chicago, tracking for an ass whooping on Thanksgiving which could end up being the least of our concerns. I'm out for a bit. I skipped last week assuming we'd win, but this team is not just bad, but bad TV. Only positive is that I do think Matt is getting canned.
  19. Can't overstate how much I want LaFleur gone. Even in a scenario in which either choice has a less than 1% chance of success, he still plays for a tie with a field goal that has virtually no chance of happening rather than just throwing up a doable Hail Mary from 50. He is not average. He is one of the worst 5 coaches in the league.
  20. Just throw it up. This kick isn't going anywhere.
  21. Not sure it's possible to make this.
  22. The Packers; -Paid a lot of money for Nate Hobbs -Paid a lot of money for Aaron Banks -Traded away two first-round picks -Drafted a WR first round who has less than 300 yards after 9 games. -Got worse
  23. Very fitting end. Uninspiring, unimaginative playcall coupled with laughable execution. LaFleur's schtick has run dry, time to turn the page.
  24. Not Love's best night. But these guys have done him very little favors snagging catchable balls.
