  1. At the end of the day the Cavaliers have a championship because of LeBron. His legacy to me is that getting CLE a title mattered to him and he anchored the best comeback in the league's history against a 73-win team to do it. He would have been within his rights to tell CLE to buzz off especially after that embarrassing purple letter from Dan Gilbert. One thing I'm sure of is that Michael "I took that personal" Jordan would have never even considered going back there. He was wise to pad his legacy with other championships because that is what the media machine judges players for at the end. He has people that dislike him but I think claiming his legacy is as a villain is a major reach.
  2. I think LeBron is better than Jordan at everything but a mid-range jumper, but recognize it is a minority opinion. I don't even like getting into that conversation because I feel it is more cultural and nostalgic attachment to Jordan than anything to do with basketball. The parts of Jordan that aren't good were almost entirely hidden from public view while nobody that plays now gets that benefit. LeBron has been by most accounts a model citizen but then chimes in about China or something. Then we have a front-row seat via the media and social media about every little thing these guys do and it becomes easy to be annoyed by basically any player if you want to be. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and had multiple MJ jerseys but today feel that he benefitted tremendously from playing at a time when the league was immensely popular and the overall culture was naive and sort of free-spirited. It was sort of a golden era of pop culture and the last era in which icons were deified without being under a microscope 24/7. Imagine the backlash of his romps in Vegas after a bad playoff loss. Then and now, it is OK to have a great team built around you, but it is not OK if you leave because ownership sucks at doing that. Replace Middleton with Kyle Korver or something and is Giannis still in MKE? Maybe, maybe not. Would Jordan stay in Chicago for 15 years without Pippen? Maybe, probably more likely than Giannis staying in MKE. Those guys never had to make that decision, LeBron did.
  3. So did Detroit, they were a massive underdog against LA and destroyed them. Spurs were dominant almost entirely on their own development, though the team was quite super. I mean, really, Golden State was home-grown prior to KD. And while I wouldn't call the Raptors a super team, it was Kawhi, an emerging Siakam who was really a star by the end of the year, and Lowry whose numbers were only down because of those two. Problem for LeBron is that CLE did none of that. They were terrible at building the team.
  4. CLE doesn't win the title without Love so I think it turned out fine. LeBron should get credit for going back to CLE, 99% would not. He deserves flack for the whole Decision thing, which I think he regrets, but I maintain going to Miami was the right move for him. Without Miami his star never rises to where it is, there is no Space Jam, he is not elevated the way he is. I could go on and on about this but IMO the reason he gets any hate at all is because he is the closest threat to MJ and people don't like that. The way MJ has just skirted any of this talk makes me laugh. I know it's not the Decision but he won every title with a HOFer and they piled on with Rodman in their 2nd run. And nobody cares. Free agency is just not what it was 20 years ago. The players drive the boat now. His choices were to control his destiny or claw to lose to a super team in some other city. Jordan didn't have to contend with Barkley teaming up with Hakeem and Gary Payton. When it was just him the Bulls were an easy out for Detroit, Boston and other teams with multiple good players.
  5. I would agree but almost a blend of the two. He won't be as dominant as peak Shaq was, but will likely have better longevity and is a bit more versatile.
  6. Giannis chased it by sitting still, lol. They went out and got Holiday and Bogdanovic (whoops) for him and happened to have a premier shooter on the team already. You're right that's what the narrative is, but Giannis came nowhere close to doing this on his own. Those Cleveland teams were horrendous. Much, much worse than the Bucks of the last 3 years, except for the ones that had both Love and Kyrie. His early teams there were awful.
  7. In the current dynamic of the NBA, those Heat teams were basically a normal contending team. I mean they lost the Finals twice. If we want to criticize something lame, to me that's easy and it's Durant going to GSW, possibly the lamest player move of my lifetime as an NBA fan. LeBron likely knew that team would crush them, they did, so I'd have done exactly what he did at the end of my deal.
  8. Why would he voluntarily play for Cleveland when they can't assemble a team? I'm not understanding why that's held against him. Nobody can win a title by themselves and Khris Middleton is leaps and bounds better than any player on Lebron's first Cavs Finals team and his last Cavs Finals team. So is Holiday for that matter. LeBron didn't start pile-on teams either. The Lakers tried it years earlier and Celtics did it with KG and Allen. Just a weird take I don't know why we have to rope LeBron into our title run. It's not like LeBron jumped ship at the first opportunity, he lost in Cleveland for years and then went back when he could have played literally anywhere he wanted. IMO LeBron would have been just stupid to sit in Cleveland and let superteams assemble elsewhere. He'd have 0 titles and hot takes about how he "can't get it done" would be plentiful.
  9. He took the Cavs to the Finals five times. Once with Mo Williams and once with Isaiah Thomas as the 3rd option.
  10. He's a clown. The beauty of it is that had he not flopped on the final steal and just gone in strong, there is a much better chance of getting the foul called.
  11. Guess that's why we gave up our 401k for Jrue.
  12. Not pulling this out at this point would be absolutely devastating.
  13. They were going to make a run. Just have to withstand it.
  14. 11 minutes left but they have not shown any ability whatsoever to stop us from scoring.
  15. If Giannis has Covid nobody will ever know, so don't worry!
  16. We are playing out of our minds. I don't think I've ever seen us look better.
  17. I also think the Brewers will end up comfortably winning this division mostly because their SP is too good to have a truly horrific chokey losing stretch to blow it.
  18. What's with the massive tool counting bills? Yikes.
  19. Middleton and Holiday seem to have found a groove so we should at least have a chance tonight.
  20. I'm pretty patient in the NBA but even these 7 and 8 point leads PHX gets have felt like 20 points in this series. It's extremely hard to close the gap on a team that shoots this well.
  21. Lol, they are probably taking the Finals to 7 games. They "can win a title" with this team, but that doesn't mean they will.
  22. I was at least hoping we'd make this fun to watch, not get blown out in the first.
  23. Looking like we may be getting Clanky Khris on the road tonight.
