  1. Bucks are ahead 34-12 in the paint. I don't think they're better without Giannis, but without just relying on him penetrating and kicking out, they do seem to be leaning more heavily on having to score inside.
  2. Seriously, why is Teague on the team?
  3. I fully expect this to get close eventually. Just can't see it being this easy.
  4. You can kinda tell life gets harder when Lopez is out of the game. Gotta use his minutes wisely.
  5. Wow, great start for an embarrassing team with no will to win.
  6. No Young again. I think the Bucks pull this out on the home court. I'll trust Middleton to have a good game.
  7. I think Bud's job is safe. That was probably the worst part of winning the Nets series for me. Somewhere, like 20 pages back, I said Bud should get fired if they win the championship. Of course it wouldn't happen, but I still believe it. He'd have been fired last year if Covid didn't happen assuming they didn't win the East. Don't see them doing it now, not with the Giannis excuse and the best candidate (Carlisle) off the board already. That said...some folks are putting way too much weight on the first half of an NBA game, IMO. If you watch 82 (72) games, you'll see about 30 where the winning teams come out looking like crap and turn it on in the 2nd half. That's the NBA. We have no idea what would have happened in Games 3 or 4 without the Giannis/Young injuries. The Bucks were down 10 in the 3rd; that is a total toss-up in the NBA, and that said I think expecting Bud to pull a rabbit out seconds after Giannis goes down in horrific fashion is a pretty lofty expectation. Tonight, he's had time to plan and put something together, so I would agree that it's something of a defining moment for him. If they lost at home and there's no Young, that's bad. At this point, I think we need to drop the narrative that the Bucks should have crushed ATL through the crust of the Earth without Young. This is a team that is 34-11 since hiring Nate Mac entering the ECF, they are not bad. They were supposed to get swept by the Knicks per ESPN and took out the top seed. They're good, it's time to give them some respect.
  8. Personally I would do #1 but these kinds of questions always depend on where the house is IMO. If this is an affluent suburb where a filled driveway is going to stick out like a sore thumb I'd be more inclined to replace it all. City lot or something where the homes aren't Leave it to Beaver-esque, I would do #1. I don't have the 2" gap but I did mudjack my entire driveway for $1400 seven years ago. It has held up well, you just have to redirect downspouts and such which is usually what causes the sinking in the first place. I could live with foam or rocks in a 2" gap to save $5700. Just not worth it to me if you seal it properly.
  9. As much as I dislike watching Pat play defense, I would go the other way and give Lopez's minutes to Portis. Lopez has been a big liability defensively this series. He just isn't quick enough for Atlanta.
  10. Everyone doesn't expect them to lose. Vegas has the Bucks at -2. I don't know why "everyone" would expect them to lose, they have two all stars and Trae Young is, at a minimum, not healthy if he's even playing. They won six games this season without Giannis, granted it's totally different because they hand-picked those games. You can probably argue legitimately that the Bucks are still in a favorable matchup if both of those guys don't play. I mostly agree though, this really depends on which part of Middleton's Jekyll and Hyde routine you get.
  11. Yeah this is where I am. It's over if they lose tonight, imo. It's a game Bud has to find a way to win after having advanced notice that Giannis can't play and going in with what you'd hope is a different plan.
  12. viewtopic.php?p=1363024#p1363024 LOL And I think I'm usually one of the "they know more than we do" guys. I HATED this trade.
  13. The other 15 quarters? I think you are leaning a bit too heavily on this "the Bucks won one quarter" schtick. So game 3, when ATL held most a 6-9 point lead for the duration of the game and then lost, that night too, the Bucks momentarily wanted it more? This makes no sense. You're talking as if the Bucks have been dominated or something. I'm sorry, but any pre-series "predictions" are moot once Young and Giannis start missing games. As I said, I don't like Bud...but superior NBA team drop games within a series. It's a thing that happens a lot, especially in a conference final. They should have won Game 1 and also Game 4 and it's all Bud's fault...they should just storm through and sweep everyone. It sounds ridiculous. Things happen besides Bud. This just feels like a bit of a reach. I'll never say the Bucks shouldn't have won this series, but I think it might be time for people to come around to ATL being a good team. They started the year 14-20 and have been shunned by the experts in every round of the playoffs. The Bucks having a fight with them is hardly unique.
  14. What's the metric for this? The night the Bucks were up 40, did they just want it more, but just that one time?
  15. Well yeah, because that's kind of how sports works. The outcome is either that one team wins or the other ones does. So I would expect that yes, that is what they said.
  16. My prediction isn't hindsight. They were going to lose this series even with a healthy Giannis, and Bud would be the reason why. Yeah, no, they weren't. And they may still win it...may.
  17. Post was so odd I had to go back to it. Points in the paint by game: 70-54 Bucks 62-30 Bucks 56-34 Bucks 44-46 Hawks Bucks out-rebounded the Hawks by 13 and 15 in both wins, edged 43-42 in Game 4 and were out-rebounded 51-45 in Game 1. The Bucks have taken three more 3s than Atlanta the entire series, though I'll admit that's not a great comp since ATL should probably be taking way more than the Bucks given the matchup. Although maybe not, since they really aren't particularly good at it. And I'll concede that despite the numbers I think the Bucks could probably exploit it more. It's always amusing to me when fans try to write a narrative almost solely built on nothing but spicy hot takes. The Hawks want it more? Give me a break. The Bucks looked like they were about to collapse in Game 7 and were down most of the game and fought like Hell to be here. Young going off in Game 1 and injuries are the reason this may be the end of the line. And some plain old bad play from a couple guys at some unfortunate times, but it has nothing to do with the Hawks "wanting it more." Did they not "want it" the night they were down 40?
  18. I don't like Bud and he is getting out-coached, but he has made adjustments this playoffs. However, it's a bit odd to toot your Hawks in 7 pick after Giannis is most likely hurt and out for the year, lol. I think the Bucks would be up 3-1 if Giannis didn't get hurt. And if it were 2-2 they'd likely still be a good favorite.
  19. We'll never know, but I really thought the Bucks had just turned a corner when this happened. They just looked better right out of the half, Giannis was attacking, and I was fully expecting them to hit another gear and take that one. When you rabidly follow one team, it gets easy to be frustrated when they suck...but when you watch other teams a lot, you realize it's just part of the flow of the game. They looked really, really bad, but NBA games are just so turbulent. If the scores are remotely close with 5 minutes to play, anything can happen. But yes, I do think they can beat ATL without Giannis. If the last 2/3 were in ATL, I wouldn't...it can happen, but they're going to need somebody to be a hero. Middleton better pick Game 6 to disappear if they win Game 5, and they're going to need somebody to make some noise. Whether that's Forbes, Portis, Vin Baker or Bango...somebody.
  20. I'm more relieved for Giannis the human being than anything else, and knowing he doesn't have to do 18 months of rehab. But the cynic in me just feels dead inside as a fan. You go through the whole season, this happens, and then I guess you're supposed to be happy that you get to try again next year, but...I'm just not. The whole thing sucks.
  21. Yeah, but ACL is also one you can often tell immediately by feel, before the swelling. That they even let him walk around and flirt with coming back into the game I thought was a decent sign. Oh well. It is what it is. Entirely possible it is what you're saying.
  22. We can dream. I would have guessed that we would know torn ACL by now. My guess, and it's a total guess, just my depressed ramblings...is that he is hurt, and they know he is for sure not playing tomorrow, but they will wait until the last second to say that...and then we'll be day-to-day from there.
  23. Rodgers is almost 40 and the end is coming anyway. If he had been upset 10 years ago people would be far more desperate for the Packers to make him happy. This is just the latest in a series of rumblings over things that make Aaron upset. People get sick of it. But the other part of this is that frankly, Giannis is a much more likable individual with a better story and very humble beginnings. Not the silverspoon that Rodgers is and convinced the world owes him favors because he had wait a year to play at Cal and diddle on his phone for a bit before getting drafted (gasp) 24th overall. Giannis resonates with people, Rodgers comes across as a bit out of touch. I don't think he's a terrible human being but we are all products of our environment. The leagues are also vastly different. NBA players rule the roost. They can sign an extension and ask for a trade 6 months later and they just get it. Their level of happiness is very significant because they can leave at nearly any point they want. And Giannis chose to be here when he had a clear out.
  24. Correct, and that appeasement policy is going to cost them, either now, or down the road. Or both. There is a point where you say goodbye to aging players and Giannis may still be pretty good at the point that Khris isn't. I guess you can hope he matures by then and understands that it happens, but I've thought about that even before this disaster. If something comes up that gives them a chance to get younger and improve, they have to worry about making Giannis mad.
