  1. I'm 99% sure it's just record. East is the visitor no matter what as both Wests had better records. Unless they changed something.
  2. I hope he plays for GB and sucks. Getting benched would be the cherry on top.
  3. Expecting a nice bounce back tonight.
  4. I was one of those who couldn't understand the talk around here and elsewhere of trading Hader. It wasn't really based in reason. Just being a WI sports fan and seeing our superstar sort of blow it on the biggest stage of the year. I just assumed he'd crater into another flame-throwing 5 ERA reliever that had his confidence wrecked.
  5. Didn’t four of them go pro overseas? I’m not a Badgers fan so I don’t really follow them…so maybe they want to go pro overseas and haven’t actually signed with anyone, idk. If they have, sounds like their careers are just fine. I'd say a good portion of D1 players can "go pro" in Turkey if they really want to, I mean even several guys on our team from Whitewater did that, two even becoming all stars over there. But I don't think that kids good enough to get Big Ten schollies dream of playing for Petkim Spor. But not what I meant by "going pro" in this conversation. A lot of guys are done with competitively playing after the NCAA though, by choice. What I meant though is that a coach saying things to you on the recruiting trail that don't come to fruition doesn't necessarily mean he lied, although I am sure that does happen.
  6. It's odd but I sort of feel more confident in this team to win the WS than the one a few years ago. It's a relative long shot, but I just see this one as built to have a chance in a series format. It seems like you have a chance of an offense getting timely hits vs. trotting out Chacin etc. against the Dodgers. And I know Chacin was good that year.
  7. A 57 y/o obese, male asthmatic (I don't know any of this about turbo) without a vaccine has about a 1.2% chance of death and a 26.2% chance of hospitalization, so the car death statement is almost certainly true but I don't think the car has a 1/4 chance of you being hospitalized.
  8. When you show the game for free outside and price the tickets at $170 a pop that's gonna happen. Sad but true. Reminds me of how much worse the crowd got for Game 7 of the NLCS in 2018. I was at every playoff game aside from Game 2 of the NLCS, and it was shocking how much noticeably older and quieter the Game 7 crowd was. It was like going from hooligans at Game 6 to a bunch of retirees for 7. You could see it an hour before the game started, the kind of people who were filing in.
  9. One thing I haven't seen mentioned - the crowd was absolutely pathetic. I thought it might be a TV thing but I had 2 friends who were there and said it didn't even fill in until the 4th quarter. It was way, way too quiet in there for a CF game.
  10. Yeah, I'm nervous. I don't think they can afford to visit ATL down 0-2. Then it's panic time. I'll stick with Bucks in 6.
  11. There's a middle ground between "it's fine" and "series over, Giannis sucks."
  12. Maybe give them 2 games to work on a solution.
  13. This. Their defensive philosophy is trash. Has been for as long as I can remember. You watch Trae Young stand there...for 4 seconds...shimmy..and drain the shot..in your building with zero effort to defend it. It's just an embarrassment. And they have athletes who are perfectly capable defenders, but the game plan is to stand around in the mid-range and hope you have a better shooting night than they do. And when they go off again, well just tip their cap and dare them to do it again the next game. Man, I'm sorry, but you need a new horse. This routine of yours...they were 8/32 from three. I was really, really hoping that if the Bucks dropped Game 1, which I thought had a pretty good chance of happening, that the rollercoaster of the last series would help temper the hot takes...but, oh well. The Bucks will be OK. There are going to be more lumps on the road to the title. I'm not overly concerned...yet.
  14. Midds sucked, but Holiday picked up the slack. That game should have been 100% over at 111-107. They absolutely blew those final minutes. I said a few pages ago I was worried about this game being like Heat Game 1. I really hoped I was wrong, but now I hope that's all it was. Losing Game 1 sucks.
  15. Yikes. Settle down. It's a best of 7. Giannis has gone into beast mode with plenty of 40+ point games. He was 6/8 from the line tonight. If you are expecting him to hit clutch threes all the time, sorry to say that he is not Steph Curry.
  16. Well, not entirely surprising to me, but that sucked. Now we're in another dogfight.
  17. Those two guys don't have a choice. If they're going to win they need to score 50 points. KD is the most explosive scorer in the world, but Giannis is a presence all over the floor. He can score, he can come up with a monster block, he can grab 15 boards, he's a pain to score on. He's not having a particularly great game and is likely going to score 30 and get a triple double. And he does this almost every single night.
  18. Can we just give the threes a rest? It's just so annoying to watch when we clearly don't have it and keep chucking them up.
  19. Lol, do our guys know that this sport has a clock? Jesus.
  20. They are shooting over 50% and Young is going to score like 50 points. I'd hate to let this get away, but I think we'll be OK.
  21. I thought we might get their best punch tonight and it looks like we are. I am not too worried even if we end up dropping this. I think we'll pull it out, but if they have to score 120-130 to beat us, we're OK. And we have like 50 points in the paint. I just think we'll burn them out.
  22. I wanted him traded after the WC play-in loss. I thought he was another Brewers reliever who'd have a "moment" and never be the same again.
  23. About what I expected thus far, kind of thought we'd get the Heat Series Game 1 tonight. Can't let them steal the first one.
  24. The most likely scenario is that Gard or whoever, said yes, you have a chance to go pro/become this kind of player at Wisconsin during recruiting. They weren't good enough. That doesn't make it a lie. This "connection" drivel could just as easily be a bunch of guys struggling to come to grips with the end of their basketball careers.
  25. As I said, not a Badgers fan, but I dunno that pro aspirations are a reasonable demand of a coach at UW. There have very few impact NBA players from UW and everyone knows what kind of team they almost always are. It's far from impossible to do at UW, but there's a reason you went to UW and not Kentucky. Recruiting "lies" have been around since the dawn of time. You can not be lying when telling a player what opportunities there may be for him, but over the course of his career realize he just is not good enough for those to unfold.
