  1. Yeah I dunno. I said before this year that if the Bucks didn't win the East that Coach Bud would be on the hot seat. I got jumped all over but I didn't think it was that outrageous at the time. I don't know if Bubble World has earned some people mulligans. Of course if Giannis wants to leave the HC being on the hot seat is probably immaterial. I'm not concerned about the Bucks beating Orlando. I am concerned about the level of play the last couple weeks as it has not done anything to inspire confidence about this team being ready for a run.
  2. Boston was good though, this team sucks, they should not beat the Bucks. It's one game, but they got clobbered. I'm not too worried, but there is no sugarcoating what just happened. It could end 4-1 in our favor and it doesn't make that performance less pathetic. It was a little too reminiscent of that Raptors series. Orlando did nothing unsustainably well and everyone but Giannis just turtled.
  3. Ah, so, about that winning...lol
  4. I still feel like they're going to win, but the Giannis one-man show is exactly what most of that series with TOR was. If this happens more than a couple times in the playoffs it's going to be the same old knock that they don't have a reliable second scorer. Middleton took a step up most of this season, but he's got to be that guy now.
  5. Yeah, if there is something to be concerned about, it's the reappearance of Rollercoaster Khris that we saw a lot of last postseason.
  6. Leads can certainly fluctuate and be erased quickly in today's game but I certainly would not call any lead under 30 meaningless. Maybe under 10. I don't have the data in front of me but I would guess that the odds of winning an NBA game while trailing by 25 at any point in the game are historically extremely low. When one team has superstars and one team sucks I bet it's higher than you think. I can't count the number of games I've seen LeBron or whoever go down 17 to the Wizards in the 2nd quarter and win. I don't even bother getting excited by it because it gets wiped out in half a quarter.
  7. I'm not really surprised they've been sluggish. A bunch of time off and then they go back into this fake-feeling experiment, with no fans, their daily routines shaken up completely and they've been slow to adjust. Hopefully that's slow to adjust and not unable to adjust. I don't think they need to lose to an 8 seed to wake up but I won't be too concerned if they do. In a vacuum I wouldn't care less about dropping one game to an 8, but in the context of how blah they've looked it's mildly concerning. If they went down 0-2 I'd be worried.
  8. I can say that even down 18 I didn't, and don't, see the Bucks losing. This is standard NBA fodder. Any deficit under 30 is nearly meaningless until there's about 15 minutes of play left.
  9. I loved the Dillon pick from the start. All I kept seeing was it was a waste because we have Jones but this guy is absolutely nothing like Jones. Lots of physical freaks don't hack it in the NFL for one reason or another but he is exactly the kind of weapon I've wanted them to have for a long time.
  10. But it's the evil media's fault... Clevinger must be a real turd. I'm honestly shocked by that. I fully expected this to read they were going to opt out if the players were not brought back to the MLB roster.
  11. The one thing that I really don't get is this idea that this roster is better suited for a 162 game season. This depth that we keep hearing about is just not there. This is a bad roster whether the season has 60 or 600 games. Team may not be very good, I don't know. What I do know is that I've heard this for parts of the last two years too. The idea that we really know what this would have been over 162 is just not realistic. We're short 102 games and it's fair to judge them on the 60 they play, but lots of weird stuff transpired to get this team to win as many games as they did the last three years. A lot of it came from random guys.
  12. I don't see Melvin and Stearns as similar at all. Melvin would have thrown everything at renting Manny Machado and then offered him 4 years and $100 million in FA. Who are these old players getting long term deals under Stearns though? Lorenzo Cain is the only one I can think of, it has mostly worked out to this point, and he was 31. Stearns has done a much better job of getting solid production from scrap heap guys that are only here for a short while but make a big contribution for not a lot of money. When DM tried that we got guys like Yuniesky Betancourt. I think DM gets criticized a bit harshly but I'm a bit taken aback by how someone could think they're similar.
  13. Yeah, I think so. He's shown this before, beating up Dunleavy, though it can be justified. He does let his emotions get to him at times. Justified ejection, but did look like an Oscar-worthy performance from Wagner.
  14. I'm sorta whatever on the season. If Corbin Burnes can bounce back from last year, and we have Woodruff, Houser and Yelich, we'll be fine. A lot of the flyers from the past offseason don't look so great, though.
  15. Anyone can player shame though. It's a matter of opinion as to whether or not they should golf or do whatever. Do I blame MLB more for lazy protocol? Sure, but the guidelines are lazy because the players would never have gone for something more restrictive. It's just another way MLB botched this. You seem really hung up on the golf though and it really isn't the point. It's that they can basically do anything. I mean dining out, in proximity of the general public, as long as it is outdoors? I think most of the fans' expectations going in were that they'd take it seriously. When you watch an NBA game, even though they're in a bubble, you still get that sense. A lot of it is for show. There hasn't even been the showmanship of pretending this is taken seriously in MLB. Spitting, breathing on each other, benches clearing brawls, nightclubs. People would probably be more receptive to a golf outing if it wasn't in the context of all this other stuff.
  16. Yeah, I'm sorry, this idea that stud athletes don't enjoy high school is...a reach, lol, to say the least. I'm not, and I don't think anybody is, suggesting they won't work super hard.
  17. I think the issue with what you're saying is that you're speaking about players golfing in a vacuum when this isn't a vacuum. You're kinda making it sound like people have a big problem with players doing non-baseball stuff on their own time which is disingenuous. People have an issue with players doing non-baseball group activities in a 60-day time period in which everyone across the country has given up something to make a lot less money and have a lot less fun. MLB didn't even do this, but if they had just said "All you guys can do is play baseball and stay on the resort for 2 months," I'd have found that plenty reasonable, if for no other reason than game day activities occupy a huge portion of the day and they play almost every day anyway.
  18. They could DQ STL and extrapolate the other teams' W/Ls using their winning % for the season. I dunno, just thinking out loud...maybe that's pointless and would be the same as just taking winning %, though maybe it would make a difference if going by total wins and one team had more games with STL than another.
  19. STL is only half the problem though, there are a bunch of teams short on games (us) because they couldn't play them.
  20. Some teams will play 20 games by the time STL plays six. How do they plan on addressing that?
  21. I'm just as happy about Logan Morrison. Nothing against the guy, but one of the most boring players on the major league roster in some time.
  22. I mean they play baseball. It's not like they work in a cubicle all day. It's more about the optics though. It's one thing for Joe Blow to hit the links. A guy making $4 million to play 2 months of baseball and he can't resist golf? They are sacrificing on some level, for sure, but so is everybody.
  23. I don't really care if it is or not. The Marlins story had broken by then, there is nothing better for them to do on a road trip than a golf outing? I think the bigger point is that they can come and go as they please. Really necessary to travel to Whistling Straits during a series in Milwaukee? That they get to play baseball right now seems like a privilege lost on many. I'm sure there are all kinds of 'safe' activities for people to enjoy but the NBA isn't letting guys just freely roam around Orlando.
  24. Plesac should be out for the year. Enough is enough. If this were the first disruption you can excuse being soft, but we have a team stuck on 5 games played, that went out golfing, and another team that was probably at a nightclub. Just tell him he's done. Young, old, whatever. Start kicking guys out.
  25. Not even just the shaming, but the implication that wearing a mask is a foolproof blockade also needs to stop. There is a growing sentiment that everyone who gets this gets it because someone else was irresponsible. Masks work, we should wear the masks. You can also still get someone sick if wearing a mask. Semi-related and something that has been surprisingly underreported: While FL has been a giant mess for several months now, the re-opening of the theme parks has been essentially a non-issue. Universal and Sea World have been open two months, Disney for one month. One of the researchers closely watching the parks went as far as saying this: “So there are people in our community that want to have an outbreak in the parks, and we are looking for an outbreak in the parks, and we have not seen it,” Pino said. “It doesn’t mean it has not happened, we haven’t been able to triangulate that data.” They have had cases at parks, but there's been no sign to this point of an outbreak at a park. There have been a lot of reports that the protocols at these places are some of the best followed in the country. The attendance has also been lower than even the parks estimated, and most of the things are outdoors. I wish it were being reported a bit more as it seems like it could be a fairly decent indicator that there are ways to have some nice things safely.
