  1. I feel pretty confident Pina will be the answer in 2020, it just might not be a very good one. But he's probably "fine."
  2. I'm a tad leery of Moustakas. I've loved him as a Brewer, but he is 31 and at least doesn't look like he's in super duper shape. Just seems like a guy that fall off quickly and you may have gotten the best out of him already.
  3. I never even picked HOC up after the Spacey stuff. It had gone on a season too long anyway before that point in my opinion.
  4. This is about what I thought it would take to keep him. I would have liked in next year, not so sure I would in 2022.
  5. I think this will be the long-awaited signature win.
  6. There are a lot of parallels between Rivers and Stafford.
  7. Eh, I'm not sure I totally agree with that, but I would guess that the people who can pay for kids education and choose not to cover 100%, have probably already raised children that are humble and decent and would already care by that point in life whether it was paid for or not. I have a very wealthy uncle in real estate out East (bought up a bunch of shore properties in the 70s) who had two boys, and he did make them both take out some loans. His words were "if I pay for the whole thing, they have no skin in the game." So maybe I do agree with it a bit, but I also think giving them a loan will help them empathize with those less fortunate. I knew a lot of people who got a free ride and they worked hard, but most of them also lack any concept of what they were given.
  8. Agree the state logo is ugly but I like everything else. Actually really like the barley ball.
  9. I won't call him a bust, but there was no need to draft him where they did.
  10. I totally get that. I had hoped that he would have made more of an impact by now as well. I just think that declaring the guy a bust 10 games into his career is hilariously short-sighted at best, and downright ludicrous at worst. As I mentioned earlier, the Packers have gotten very lucky so far when it comes to health at that position, with the Smiths and Fackrell staying healthy for the most part. But if any of those guys goes down for any length of time, I would expect that Gary would play a huge role at an extremely important position. Again, you can never have enough guys who can rush the passer. I don't really have an opinion of him yet. It's not really common to have rookies be very productive at that position. He is a drafted edge rusher and that hasn't been an issue for their defense. There are limited snaps for him at this point. I think it is a combination of not thinking he's ready and not really needing him. He was drafted with everyone knowing he was raw, sparse PT may not be the worst thing for him in year one.
  11. He's just saying that a lot of our busts end up playing about that many games. People are always hesitant to admit when top picks suck and do tend do exaggerate their bright moments. He was a reach pick a lot of people didn't like and to this point, he's done just about nothing. Those guys get time, and he is young, but you'd like to see at least some hint that there's something there.
  12. They may get there because the AFC is really bad. Outside of Baltimore their other bad matchup is a potential shoot out with KC where Brady is forced to match Mahomes which he won't be able to do. But their defense might keep that from happening. Outside of that who is beating them? I'll pass on Buffalo, so it's Oakland or the Colts? I don't think they'd have a prayer getting out of the NFC.
  13. My lack of great fear in the Pats stems from the fact that Brady is not really all that good. This is all masked by the fact the team is still winning games, but I don't even think he's a top 10 QB anymore. Smack him around in January and he is going to feel 42. His arm is not really impressive anymore at all. They have the best coach in the history of the sport, but they're more beatable now than they have been at previous times in the dynasty. I'm not saying they're bad, but I don't feel this version of them is significantly better than other contending teams.
  14. I don't think New England is all that great. They're New England and 9-1 is 9-1, but they really have played next to nobody and it's just not the traditionally superior team it usually is. They could clearly win the Super Bowl again but I don't really find them more threatening than New Orleans or Baltimore or a road game in Seattle. The Ravens would be my pick for the AFC today, but that's still a 2-loss team went to OT with Pittsburgh and squeaked by Cincinnati...it's a vulnerable team. Yeah they beat the crap out of Houston and Cincy #2. I'm just not seeing a team I'd feel safe betting on in either league, as opposed to other seasons when you almost knew who was coming out of at least one conference halfway through the year. But yeah, if you made me pick the best in each league I'd go Balt and New Orleans.
  15. The 49ers look much more vulnerable than they did 2 weeks ago and I like the Packers to win. As the season moves on I'm reconciling my belief that the Packers aren't an elite team with the reality that there is no dominant team. The Smiths just might be enough to get a pass rush in the playoffs and sometimes that's all you need with a little luck elsewhere. I woke up yesterday starting to think Minnesota was the best team in the NFC but you can't call them dominant either. I would say New Orleans if forced to pick one but I don't see any real separation between the top 5 in the NFC. The AFC isn't any better.
  16. I don't have any of the live streaming things but I pay my parents' bill for it (just the actual clicking of buttons to pay) and I don't see how it's even close even at that price point. For spectrum internet and their cable package the bill is consistently $190 a month. I don't really know what just internet and one streaming option would be but I'm guessing at worst, Internet + Youtube or whatever would be around half that. I find cable to be one of the worst values out there though. If you take out live sports, which I end up barely watching anyway, it is just a bunch of filler junk. I realize my situation is not the norm but $15 Internet + $3.90 Disney+ and $8.99 Netflix is a huge savings, and I find just free Youtube and Netflix to be better than cable anyway. There are so many free docs and such, if I had the time I could watch 6 hours a night. On the point above on Disney+'s child content, I've found just in the last week when we watch, we basically use Disney until the kids go to sleep, then we switch over to Netflix.
  17. The slate of games is especially bad this week.
  18. Also, interesting/useful note...you CAN open a 529 even before you have kids, just do so in your name, and change it when they're born. I did it with my 2nd.
  19. SoFi is legit. I just missed all those programs but Credible seems to be the same; I know you get SoFi when you search via Credible...I don't think Credible actually does any of the banking. I think it's like an Expedia for loans but I'm not super well-versed on this.
  20. I thought the whole exchange was funny. Funnier how seriously random joe blows on Twitter take it, pointing out stats and splits like it's a presidential debate. It's amusing to me any time grown men defend these 20-somethings who don't know they exist so furiously, like they are their kids. It was a funny rib, just move on. He OPS'd 1400 on him, he can make a stupid joke. Donaldson was funny too.
  21. I'd probably say all non-mortgage debt takes priority. I opened two of them while still paying my own student loans but I just wanted to get it rolling. I was paying $1k a month on a loan with a $233 payment though so I was already fairly aggressive on it. I got lucky with my mortgage being 3% so I've never been in a hurry to pay it off. I'll likely live there forever and it's a modest house so I never really worried about it.
  22. I've never thought not paying for kids' college is "wrong." The expectation that you should is kind of silly to me. They have a lifetime to pay for it, you don't.
  23. Yeah, that's never going to happen. Rudolph would give himself just about the worst reputation possible around the league. Regardless of how much they criticize what happened in the press, that is driving in the fast lane toward the least amount of respect possible.
  24. I do see it as different than punching. The same way that I think fist fighting with a dude in the street and hitting him in the head with a baseball bat are different. This is closer to the latter. Suspension is what I expected. Pouncey's is probably appealed down to 1 game. Garrett should take it and sit down.
