  1. I was a big fan of Allison going into last year but when he got hurt again I figured his chance had passed by. He had a big game in Dallas in the playoffs a few years ago and then another big game against Dallas in '17 right before Rodgers got hurt. He was on pace for having a nice season that year and then it all blew up. Would be nice to see him step up with 2 guys down.
  2. I appreciate that Adams is out, and I'm a big believer in offenses evolving as the year goes on, but I really feel like this team needs a veteran WR. I really wanted Tate this past offseason.
  3. Williams is a great runner and having both of them is awesome if healthy. Jones is a dynamic player but not really a bell cow. They complement each other really nicely.
  4. Time for Jimmy Graham to go. Too bad we can't clear cap space by keeping Daniels and retroactively cutting Graham. He obviously had lost a step but that was fine, I think the Packers intention was using him in the red zone. He's proved nearly worthless there. He doesn't block, so he's really adding nothing to the team.
  5. This team needs a WR. A real one. And badly enough that I'd call Dez Bryant.
  6. That shouldn't be shocking, since Morosi Tweeted it last week and mentioned he is highly regarded in the league.
  7. Going to miss making Subzero jokes.
  8. Lol, I used to wear out Madden. In high school and college I did a lot of money tournaments and traveled and what not. I reached #9 on EA's portal, but anyway, I used to think the same thing. But the game has a few things reality doesn't. For example, in the game, at least back then, the hurry-up actually slowed you down because you had to wait for all the characters to get back to the huddle. If you let the play screen come up and just pick a play, they would magically all morph into the huddle and it went faster. I do think some coaches use the TOs terribly. But I've seen a bunch of NFL games where the QB tries to get up to the line and "save" a TO and ends up diddling so long and adjusting so many things that they just waste WAY too much time and the TO would have been better. There are all kind of personnel changes and stuff in the NFL too which get confusing, vs. the game where the formations are plucked off a screen and the right guys just morph into the game.
  9. Dean Blandino after an identical play where the wave was actually much more flagrant in 2013, via Golden Gate: "A lot of people felt that the touchdown shouldn't have counted [but] a taunting foul is always treated as a dead-ball foul, meaning whatever happened during the play counts, and the foul is enforced on the next play, which would be the kickoff. In college, this action would take back the touchdown. Tate started taunting at the 25-yard line. The college rule, that's enforced at the spot of the foul, so they'd go from a touchdown to first-and-10 at the 40, which would be a gigantic penalty. The NFL rule, it's a dead-ball foul, it's enforced on the kickoff. But I'm sure that's something that the Competition Committee will look at in the offseason." That rule ultimately was never changed in the NFL. I didn't think so, because again, after decades of football I can't recall a single TD being called back for taunting. Feel like I'd remember that too because it would be plastered everywhere if it happened.
  10. What's crazy is for all the talk of strengths and weaknesses and everything everyone did wrong this season, the Cardinals are playing in the LCS and the Brewers were hairs from pushing them to a 163 that they obviously could have won. Just a few pitches potentially determined where we are.
  11. To me this is the dealbreaker: ARTICLE 1. TYPES OF FOULS A Foul is any infraction of a playing rule for which a penalty is prescribed. A Live Ball Foul is a foul that occurs during the period after the snap until the ball is dead. A Dead Ball Foul is a foul that occurs in the continuing action after a down ends, or a taunting foul that occurs at any time. To me, that means a taunting foul is automatically classified as dead ball, even if during the play.
  12. The fact that looking for the rule only brings up several articles from 2013 about following the NCAA rule of wiping out the touchdown, and a bunch of people saying it would be stupid, makes me think it's not a rule. There would at least be a new article about a fairly significant change like that. The way they write those rules in ye olde english is confusing to me, but I don't think that example applies here. To me that just reads as penalty in the endzone, ex. OPI, being enforced as 10 yards from the goal line, etc. But IDK.
  13. While LA is a large market and enjoys what comes with that, their farm has been outstanding for years now. I don't think a group that operates that way is going to send Lux off for a RP. Even though it is probably a sure thing Hader helps them more than Lux in 2020, I just see that group as too smart to do it.
  14. I think Lafleur knew, lol. The fine and touchdown resonated more.
  15. I'm 99% certain that's not an NFL rule. Guys have been flagged (Lynch crotch grab) before scoring and it has always been enforced on the kickoff/fined later. I still remember Reggie Bush pointing at Urlacher in the NFCCG though I don't believe then flagged him on that. I can't recall ever seeing a TD called back due to taunting in the NFL. Even blatant unsportsmanlike gets enforced on the kickoff.
  16. Lol. Coach is wrong though. That one would go on the kickoff
  17. I would trade Hader for Lux straight up. Don't think LA ever would.
  18. Moving on from Shaw right now would be kinda crazy imo. He fell so precipitously that you almost think it has to be a solvable issue.
  19. Oakland doesn't deserve the A's. I'd support them moving. If any pro team has a valid claim for a better stadium, it's them. I'm generally against it when teams whine for new stadiums. I supported the Bucks because I just wanted the Bucks to have a new stadium, but impartially, I understand people who are against it. But the A's been so successful with such constraints...if they can't get the place to spring for a new park, they should leave.
  20. You got the SSH strip back already? That would be wonderful news. Just trying to avoid sending a payment due on the 16th only to ask for it back 3 days later.
  21. With baseball, we can't tell for sure, either way. But I don't think the Braves would have dumped the chop if it hadn't been for Helsley. If it were Brewers-Braves, and the Crew has no one like Helsley to make that complaint, do you think the Braves still dump the chop for the decisive game in the NLDS? Yes or no. No ... but the team being so quick to dump it when Helsley complained also tells me that deep down the team brass knows it's wrong and that it was only a matter of time before someone stepped in and ended it. Exactly. I think it is a stupid, archaic gesture, but the fact that they did this is a public admittance of them feeling the same. They can't go back from this. Also, the kid was asked and answered. He said how he felt. It's not like he called a conference to blast the chop.
  22. I was just going to say, the list should start with the salad tongs. Matt Wise. He later hit a guy in the face, I want to say Pedro Lopez of CIN, and was never the same pitcher.
  23. Chandon Sullivan is looking like he could be a 2019 Sam Shields-type acquisition. Comes out of nowhere and completely changes the kinds of defenses they can run. Packers don't win the Super Bowl without Shields, just a huge part of what Capers was able to call that season.
  24. The Vikings had a random 13-3 year with a retread QB sandwiched by .500 seasons. I've been hearing about how talented they are for what feels like 5 years so I'm not really buying it anymore. The Bears are who we thought they were. They can load up defensively all they want, until they can actually move the ball they have a firm ceiling. If we want to talk about unsustainable, repeated winning seasons with no QB is unsustainable. Detroit has been badly coached for a decade. That they don't have talent is simply not accurate, there is talent all over that roster, including the most important position on the field and Golladay who looks like a monster in the making. Their winning being "unsustainable" in the past has nothing to do with 2019, the team is under entirely new leadership since a couple seasons ago. I just don't see that team as clearly below either of the other two. My money is on them to finish second, because I think they've turned a corner and their schedule gets ridiculously soft in the second half.
