  1. Yeah this guy is not Antonio Brown. He's a suit, there are 100k of him waiting in the wings for his job and most of them not as tone deaf. Most likely drunk and thought it was a great time for a sweet dude bro joke.
  2. I think anyone saying they are 100% sure is more like 70% and just saying 100% because they'll probably be right. I will admit concern. There is absolutely no predicting what athletes do in these situations and we know nothing. It could be anything from his girlfriend/their kid not wanting to spend so much time in MKE, long, brutal winters wearing on him, better commercial exposure, we have no idea. He can say all the right things to make his life easier and then "change his mind" when it counts. I would avoid betting on this completely but if forced to do so...I think he stays. But I learned a long time ago you don't take pro athletes at their word.
  3. The Packers have engaged in the same type of moral high horse stuff in the past. They publicly released that Packer People manifesto some years ago. The JS started blasting them for the Jolly thing and the public predictably took the team's side for the most part. They've pretty much cooled it since then. I don't lose any sleep over any of it, but yes, the fan base in general, and it is worse around the stadium on gameday, can be quite douchey. For the most part outwardly friendly to visitors, but superiority complex is the perfect way to put it. That is kind of funny to me, because they have two championships in 50 years. Probably one of the top 8 or so run franchises in the span, but by no means the best or even close.
  4. The As are such a travesty. The lack of support that franchise gets is amazing.
  5. Because Florida is filled with 80 year olds sitting in their living room during 105 degree summer watching baseball.
  6. Don't think it's any secret. I think the Brewers are well aware they would be better off with three ace SP. The bullpenning stuff is just the only way they can realistically compete. The best way to win a game is still with a traditional ace starter. But there is no sense trying to punch like Mike Tyson when you are three weight classes below.
  7. Moore is no stiff. He's at least a backup who has real experience playing QB, to the tune of 7k yards and almost 50 TDs. There is value in that; a guy like that can have a good night or at least be good enough to give you a shot. A disappointing guy like Bridgewater has kept the Saints alive - this is why I was so vocal about the Packers adding a guy like that. If Rodgers goes down for a year, yeah, you're done, but if he's out for a month that can be the difference in playoffs or not. At this point, I think this would be easier for the Packers if Mahomes did play. There is no way that knee is ready, he would probably be yanked in the 2nd quarter after they start getting blown out and he clearly isn't right. I don't see any way he actually plays. They have a better chance with a healthy vet that's had time to practice and be included in the game plan. Either way I think it's still a tough game for the Packers, but one they should win.
  8. Hard to say Gallardo isn't on the mountain even though it doesn't really feel like he should be. Perhaps more a lack of good SP but still, 5 straight opening day starts and career comps that are scarily similar to Ben Sheets. Yeah, Sheets was a legit ace and a better pitcher, not arguing that, but the body of work suggests Gallardo is in the discussion.
  9. He is going to have to really suck to get fired. Most other sexy picks to coach UW would view it as a stepping stone to get somewhere else. The appeal of Chryst was stability and knowing UW was his destination job. I don't follow the team super closely but he appears to have done a pretty good job so far. If Mertz stays at WI and doesn't pan out, then that conversation may gain traction. I don't want to use the word rebuilding, because that's not what Wisconsin is doing, but I guess I think they are still a program in transition, and it seemed liked Mertz is a huge part of that.
  10. He is not even in the firing conversation.
  11. The line for years has been that we don't need to pay Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb due to Rodgers making it work with lesser players, and we need to beef up the defense. We've done that, so we can't have it both ways. Can't expect to grab major DL/LB and then also back up the Brinks truck for a WR. Even a middling guy like Golden Tate got paid.
  12. What's funny about Graham, who has looked terrible most of this season, is that he quietly had a decent season in 2018. Their entire offense was awful and he still caught almost 60 passes for 600+ yards. He wasn't scoring, but nobody else was either. It's like people expected the 25-year-old version. But he wasn't nearly as bad as people act like he was.
  13. NFC East is a strange division.
  14. Our loss is to Philly who Minnesota beat last week. I think it will be very hard for the Packers to win in Minnesota. So they just gotta keep their foot on the gas.
  15. Bears. New Orleans is the worst destination possible in the playoffs.
  16. Vintage Packers defense. Bend, bend, bend but don't break. 500 yards does mean something regardless of the points. It may not mean anything today, but it isn't a good trend. How someone that follows the Packers can be comfortable with that is amazing. I'm not specifically talking about today's game, because I frankly am not that worried about it at this point. But I've seen plenty of Packers teams that give up massive yardage only to hear it's OK because they won. That is basically how the Packers lost in the playoffs most of 2009-now. They were a good team that gave up astronomical yards and points in playoff losses. Carr is good. He is having a good year on an average team. Rodgers looked great, Packers offense is rolling. But their defense looked really bad today, it happens. They're winning in October and will be back in the playoffs - that alone is great. They have time to work on being perfect. But to say they were playing prevent just isn't accurate. They were getting absolutely lit up the entire first half.
  17. Agree, the story of the day is going to be Rodgers looking vintage. Rightfully so. They have a chance to salvage something right here...
  18. So Lazard is going to be the random guy that steps up this year. What a grab.
  19. That 17 may not look bad but 24 looks worse. Carr is getting rid of the ball immediately, playing very well. He's over 70% completion on the season. Defense has not looked good at all, but sometimes the other team is good.
  20. Carr is an accurate passer, actually on a torrid pace to start the year. Getting rid of the ball really quickly.
  21. Carr is really having his way with our defense. That 14-pt swing is everything right now, making this look a lot more dominant than it has been.
  22. And like I said, there were more injury concerns with Watt, and people would have been clamoring about those if he didn't play in Madison.
  23. King dislocated the shoulder in college in a game AFTER he'd had surgery on his labrum. All I was saying was that the NFL knew about his shoulder at the draft. Then he had a bunch of problems with it his rookie year. It's a fair criticism since TT seemed to have a habit of doing it. But I don't even think you can call King a truly bad pick, he is a serviceable starter three years in now.
  24. Looking at games played and started and saying someone isn't injury prone is something people do a lot and it's not a very good gauge. Randall Cobb played in a lot of games where he sat out a series here and there or a quarter, or didn't finish because he'd start on a gimpy hammy. Jimmy Graham also has a reputation for getting injured a lot and just playing through it, but you wouldn't know it looking at his GP/GS. King hurt his shoulder in a car accident, not a football game, but has had it dislodged several times and had surgery to repair a torn labrum in college. That was a big knock on him coming out of college and one of the reasons scouts thought he was a bad tackler. Point is, there was definitely an injury flag with King. But TJ Watt had a bunch of knee injuries too. If King starts for five seasons I'd say that's a decent 2nd round pick. But the injury thing was definitely known and a reason teams stayed away from him.
  25. The defense is better, but they still are getting torched by any +QB. Unrelated, but I don't understand how the league doesn't see a problem with the pace of game. Not only that, but they continue to actively make it worse. There is almost no suspense any more in any borderline scoring play. We have to take 60 looks at it and get it "right" even it means destroying the game itself.
