  1. Maybe I'm just depressed, but right now with those two probably hurt I kinda feel getting Kimbrel is DEFCON 1 if this is still a "go for it" thing.
  2. Yeah, I think that's what Brew 82 was saying. He's the same guy, but it's worse for the team. Of course the whole catch 22 whatever thing is that if you save him until the 9th and somebody else blows it vs. someone blowing a save that wouldn't even be a SVO if you didn't put Hader in during the 7th facing the 2-4 hitters. Basically you're open for criticism unless it works after the fact. Glad it's not my job.
  3. I think you would see Hader close in a 1-run games or 2-run games where the bases get loaded or something. If you go into the 9th up 3-1 I don't think they'd use him in that spot. I think it would a committee approach based on matchups and situations. I'm inclined to agree that calling him a "closer" makes you less effective as a club overall.
  4. At this point I'm more concerned with JJ because of the cumulative stuff. He gets knocked around in the NLCS then all of the sudden is mystery sore right before the season. It has the makings of stuff going south. Hearing Knebel may pitch at all this year would be music to my ears. So I've just got my fingers crossed JJ has been much ado about nothing and he can be a quality reliever again. It's impossible he isn't regressing from last season statistically, but losing both of them is devastating.
  5. Who closes because Hader is far less effective pigeon holed into that role. That is not a good looking pen with Jeffress and Knebel out. It isn't horrible, but not great. They pitched really well without Knebel for quite some time last season. Big loss, but not insurmountable. We don't know what the deal is with JJ yet. If we're talking 2-3 weeks I'm not overly concerned about that. Losing both of them for a really long time changes everything.
  6. "Cause for concern" is something you say to set the table for really bad news. I think TJ is more likely than not.
  7. Expecting to hear Knebel needs TJ in the next 5 days.
  8. The problem with Bulaga is beyond that he's struggled to be healthy. It's that he's a mountain of a man, about to hit 30, and has back issues. Those don't get better, they get worse, and they get worst really fast. You don't even have to go beyond the Packers to see how fast those guys can collapse. They seem to have a knack for knowing when to let them go.
  9. Haudricourt and other beat writers in Milwaukee are worthless. They are worth nothing when it comes to rumors. They are so far up the Brewers rear end you would think the team employs them. They won't do anything that may anger the Brewers front office. Never have never will. I think you're exaggerating here a little bit, but it is quite different being a beat guy that has to follow a team every day than it is for a national guy who can work rumors through various sources without really dealing with any fallout from the team. TH reported Yovani Gallardo's DUI, just off the top of my head. I think almost all beat guys lack farm system knowledge, but it is not as easy a job as fans think. He doesn't have free reign to be a hard ass. He has to go talk to these people the next hour or day and if they choose not to speak with him he doesn't have a job very long.
  10. I think the fact that the season is about to start and nobody has bit makes it more likely to happen. I would think it's a one-year from us, tops. I don't think the Cubs are involved personally.
  11. I was all for Bulaga, Matthews and Cobb getting cut last offseason. Bulaga was a really good player but I think he's in Jimmy Nelson territory at this point where depending on him to do much of anything is a best case scenario. Going off the rails a bit but I think Nelson is a better bet. I wouldn't be surprised or opposed to just getting rid of him, but OL depth is not exactly common in the NFL so I can see why they'd want to try salvaging him too.
  12. St Louis will get him. Would be a very St Louis thing to do.
  13. I don't think he'd sign here for three years. He wanted six, the market is dry, so I would guess we'd sign him for 1/20 or something and he goes back to FA.
  14. I don't think he'd pitch anything other than the 9th. You give him that role there is plenty of work elsewhere to disperse among that much talent. Nobody else is really married to the 9th so it would work out perfectly.
  15. I'd take Hader personally, but I'd also take both.
  16. Make it happen Mark!!!
  17. In the East, perhaps. But I think the excitement of the Bucks season has sorta blinded people to how much better the West is, and that GSW isn't going full throttle. They've done this numerous times and know when to turn it on. I suspect in an NBA Finals, they'd make venison of the Bucks. I hope we get to see that series so I can be wrong. I have a gut feeling the Bucks won't get there though. Yeah, the Brewers definitely have a harder path there, but that's an extremely good roster that is thoroughly battle tested and has some unfinished business.
  18. I'm gonna guess that is loaded with incentives and/or an easy out for LAR after one year. Guessing they can cut him after one with very little penalty. I thought he got kinda unjustly kicked around the last few years. Yeah he fell off for sure, but he still seemed to disrupt things now and then. He just seems like someone who could still produce as a PRS and not be an every down guy. He just couldn't carry a defense anymore and in GB he still had to be that guy. Definitely shouldn't be here on that kind of deal though.
  19. Clay to the Rams. Really just a weird feeling seeing all these stalwarts elsewhere. Really feels a lot like post-Favre transitional years.
  20. So that's the Cowboys answer to losing Cole Beasley. I'm a little surprised. Market must have been really dry for him to take that deal. I hope it works out for him. If he has another year like this past one it could be his swan song.
  21. Probably because at 4-5 attempts a game you're getting guys who don't specialize in 3PFGA. Once you go under 6, you're at #37 in 3PFGA. So 6 seems like a pretty reasonable place to draw the line. There are 36 such players and Mids is 12th, which seems pretty solid to me. This is one of those things where most people are going to undersell the guy they watch play more often than the others.
  22. I suppose I looked at the question from "who will win one this year" rather than who will win one next. That would give the Bucks a better shot than I originally did. Once the Warriors are dispersed, which should have to happen soon, the Bucks window might get bigger. Maybe. Right now, I don't see any way the Bucks can take out that team in a 7 gamer once they flip on their playoff gear. I am kinda surprised on the pessimism regarding the Brewers though. They have as good a shot as any team to win the NL this year. Of course they might not, but they are loaded right now. Once you get to a series, anything can happen.
  23. I think the Brewers are most likely and thought the same last season. The Brewers are built to contend right now. The Packers have Rodgers, but I still think they are a ways off. Maybe not anymore with the FA adds, but who knows. I'm not a believer in the Bucks. I hate to say this, but I think the Bucks are a prime candidate for what the NBA seems to have every year: A regular season power that fizzles out quickly. I don't think they are built for the NBA playoffs. None of the power teams in the NBA are as reliant on one guy as the Bucks. Losing Brogdon is a big, big loss. I'll eat my crow, but I think the Bucks will be eliminated in the 2nd round. Just think the Brewers are the best top to bottom. And the nature of the sport, it is just easier to imagine them going on some tear and catching Boston etc. at the right time to pull off 4 wins. The NBA is the league of "OK we have to actually try now." I think when that happens the Bucks will not be able to content with GSW, Boston, etc. IDK, losing culture bias could be getting to me here, but I just don't see the Bucks winning a title. I'd go Brewers, Packers, Bucks. I think the Bucks are a better team than the Packers. But the NFL is such a bipolar type of league I just find it easier to envision some 9-7 magic carpet ride than the Bucks actually beating someone from the West in a 7 game series.
  24. 2x ACL tear on already stiff ILB. Guessing the Packers weren't interested in bringing him back for $5.
  25. Not a single person on here watches enough of NCAA Football to really form opinions about these guys! We all just read a bunch of stuff, look at the Packers defense and then pick our favorites with a fraction of the information that the team has! There are only a few examples of guys that I've seen in college Football that I KNEW I really wanted and they're the same that most people would look at. Bosa from how he ran past our OL like it was a drill, Hockenson from playing vs us in '18, and then the other guy who really stands out is a 'Bama DT who dominated the last two years in the playoffs. I'm pretty sure it's not Williams, I thought the guy was a True Frosh last year. Anyway, if there are any real scouts out there, I apologize, but for the most part, we're taking very little info and forming opinions and are largely ignorant about most of these guys, same as you. But I would like to see another edge rusher picked early...hopefully a guy who can become a elite young Clay type player. I literally couldn't name a college football player other than a guy or two everyone on my FB feed complains about from WI.
