  1. Meh, it is pretty innocuous, and I don't think worth getting upset over.
  2. I'm so glad to have baseball again. I'm not going through the best time right now and it's a very welcome distraction.
  3. I don't see the sense in extending him now. He's what, 27? His value is at an all-time high and I doubt it can get higher. You have four years of control and he is 31 at his next FA period. He can still get hurt or have any number of things go wrong that make him an easier extension down the road. Sure, you might be able to lock him in long term and end up on top if he continues to be Barry Bonds for four years. We likely have him for the most productive chunk of his career already. He could age well, but these things just aren't guaranteed. It seems unnecessarily risky for the club at this point and more likely not to work out for them than to go well.
  4. Yelich may be slim but he is very athletically built. 6'3 is a good amount of leverage, which is a lot more useful for launching a ball than brute strength. He's very stringy and built with an abundance of fast-twitch. So he's slim, but not in the same way Carl Edwards Jr. is or something.
  5. Expect really big things from Burnes this year. Headed to the game for the 3rd day in a row. A little bit much coming from 45 minutes away but there are worse ways to spend Sunday afternoons.
  6. Excited to see both Woodruff and Burnes start. I'm not really a fan of Peralta at all. Just have a hunch he's most likely the first guy moved to San Antonio.
  7. Hyde was pretty good when the Packers let him go. They just had him doing a bunch of out of position stuff, but he made a huge INT on a great read in Dallas in the playoffs. The thing with Hayward is that he never would have been as good in GB. San Diego at the time had two of the best edge rushers in football and he was playing a totally different scheme that suited him really well. Obviously, it was a big time mistake, but I think GB was holding him back.
  8. It's fine for the in-game threads to be "one liner" posts and emotional reactions. I think (and know) that where a lot of people's issue lies is where they become overwhelmingly negative. We can have an error or bad play and have 24 posts about what an idiot/bonehead/moron player X is, and then a big homerun or great play, and 3 posts mentioning how awesome the homerun or great play was. Again, people can post what/how they want (within the community guidelines), but when there's a lot of posters saying to the mods "wow, the game threads have become overwhelmingly negative and just aren't fun to post in anymore", it's the mods duty to look into it and say "yeah, 33 posts about what a moron Counsell is for a certain pitching move or bullpen management or how awful player X is or repeated use of words like "moron" and "idiot" in reference to players we all want to root for can make a game thread kind of tedious. When someone then says "this is getting a bit old to see the same posts night after night", and then THAT turns into personal attacks and tit-for-tat back and forth nonsense between a bunch of grown adults who can't talk about baseball without saying "I HAVE TO BE EMOTIONAL WHILE WATCHING SPORTS" it gets kind of silly having to say "Can we have a fun game thread that people want to post in?" I don't think that's a lot to ask. I don't think anyone is saying that the game threads shouldn't be impulsive, crazy, emotional or anything else, it's just that they read as overwhelmingly negative, even in a season when the Brewers won more games than any team in the NL, and won a division crown. Blowing a gasket over a play really doesn't bother me. Even "We need BP help from outside" doesn't bother me. Accusing Mark Attanasio of being a con man and comparing him to PT Barnum does bother me, because it's stupid and incendiary and just said to get a reaction. As does "this game is us coming back to reality." It's stuff that doesn't really do anything for conversation and it's just the pouting of a man baby.
  9. That's just the nature of humanity/The Internet, I'm afraid. People love to complain about any & everything, with or without provocation. There also seems to be a decent contingent of "fans" that would rather see their team lose so they can say how right they were about the team lacking instead of seeing their team win & having to face up to the possibility that maybe they aren't as smart as they think they are. & for the record I'm not complaining about others complaining or people who think they know more than those actually in charge, the whole thing honestly cracks me up, if it didn't I woulda checked out long ago. It is, but these first two days have been ridiculous, even for this place. I guess a byproduct of heightened expectations, but good grief. Can we AT LEAST wait until tax day?
  10. Maybe give them, I don't know, two weeks to try some things first? One guy hit three home runs. One of the best hitters in the league. It's not going to happen every night. If he hits just one, the game is winnable. Also, if Cain is called safe stealing second, which he was, the trajectory of that game changes completely.
  11. The tripe on here is getting pretty insufferable. It's March, the team is 1-1 and if you took everything out of context you'd think the team is 30-65. I'm not at all Mr. Positive Fan, but I've never seen things get this absurd around here. I'm probably going to take a bit of time off from the place. Anyway, that's my odd thought. The team is in big trouble and Mark A is PT Barnum. I can't figure out how this is fun for some people.
  12. This game is reality setting in jesus, give this schtick a rest already
  13. They weren't kidding about the cheaper team store. It is WAY cheaper. I picked up the authentic collection hoodie for $37.50
  14. If losing one guy and Jeffress for a couple weeks makes the strength of the team a detriment, it wasn't a strength to start with. Step away from the ledge. Do people think the 25-man would go all year without a serious injury? It is also March. It is very likely, if not a guarantee, that an outside move is made at some point. It's also a guarantee that anything short of Kimbrel won't be good enough in most people's eyes. It's March 29 and our team is really good, enjoy it.
  15. I am glad he chose this route. He tries therapy this year and comes back it is just the makings of his whole career blowing up. This gives him a chance. Next man up for the Brewers. He is a great player and a big piece of what we're trying to do, but let's remember this is one RP; his replacement will provide some replacement value, and the Brewers, even with some very bad teams, have seemed to have a knack for finding these types. Somebody big was gonna get hurt, at least we've got a season to adjust.
  16. TJ Lang hangs it up. Sitton probably not far behind him.
  17. Yount is not an '82 Brewer, he is the greatest Brewer of all time and a really great guy. If he wants to scan tickets at a gate every game so be it. It's Opening Day and he is nice enough to come back, great. Does it really matter who is rattling off platitudes in the booth? I suppose it would be better if he'd asked for a trade in 1988 and complained for 30 years how much he hated MKE like most athletes.
