  1. It is the same reason a HR and a catch in the outfield that a guy shouldn't have made drew criticism.
  2. The only thing one run games mean to me right now is that thus far, we've been able to duplicate winning those games as well as we did last year. That's a big positive to me.
  3. I know it's a joke but it's Monday and Tuesday night, like 45 degrees and April. Without a roof I'm not sure we'd draw a whole lot better.
  4. Probably because they want to limit the two innings outings until they establish their big horses.
  5. Day off Thursday and two pretty light outings previously would make me think Hader.
  6. I don't think anyone thinks he's been a great hitter. It seems odd to go HAM on how much he sucks after a home run. If he were 0-600 I'd have enjoyed that dinger all the same.
  7. Cool, we get it. You guys aren't impressed by one 3-run HR. You still think he sucks. Edgy. Congratulations.
  8. It's so annoying when a guy does something good and certain people stick to ripping him anyway. So maybe he still isn't good, but how is it any fun being that miserable.
  9. I get it, but I have to laugh at the thought he'll "regret it" if he's a superstar in three years. It is $100 million, how much can you regret it?
  10. Jim, the reason for a lot of that is that not all seats are released for SSH. They can't do that realistically because they know they can't sell them all as season seats, and they have to leave some sexy options out there for single game ticket buyers and such. FWIW, last year was my first year, Fan's Choice, in terrace. I was usually row 15, 16 or something, and usually really close to home plate. This year, I am row 8, which is really row 1 for the terrace, as row 1-7 are terrace reserve. I also have moved to a baseline on either side for most games. To be honest, I love the seats. The view is totally fine for me from up there, IMO the worst seats in MP are not high up, but rather the far outfield sides where you really can't see large chunks of field. The way they do the playoff presales, I don't really see much point in buying your pack in expensive seats unless it's REALLY worth it for you. You can get playoff seats just about anywhere, so for me the terrace is fine for regular season. Years down the road when the expendable income is really insignificant, I may just splurge anyway. Another thing I noticed is that a lot of games, it is cheaper to get in with terrace and upgrade via Ballpark once inside. But I don't get caught up in the seats to be honest. The perks are so cool to me outside of that, the seats are almost an afterthought. To the original question, I would agree that just calling them is best. End of current season is when they usually offer some kind of bonus for signing up early.
  11. Guys, again, I understand he's made a lot of money relative to you or I. That's not my point. But this is the one of the big drivers of the upcoming strike. Pat Neshek says it in the article in the main forum. I'm not saying they deserve golden parachutes nor do I miss the point that they're all set for life. It doesn't matter - the fact is they still feel taken advantage of. Whether it's ridiculous or not, it is what they think. And I do see their POV, when they all of the sudden can't get a contract yet they lined their owners pocket for their entire 20s.
  12. Braun has really looked great in the early going here. Kinda overshadowed by Yelich.
  13. Sitting still in 41 without a roof is absolutely miserable. After about half an hour it feels like 5.
  14. Braun throwing home was inexcusable. I actually think he wasn't paying attention and just habitually threw into second.
  15. I mean if that is what helps you rationalize a bad contract extension. I hear people say this all the time. They were separate transactions. You don't get to lump them together. I'm pretty emotionally detached from these sorts of things and I still don't view Braun's deal as all that bad. Would you like to have the money free right now? Sure, but you could do a whole lot worse than what Braun is giving you. Braun also provides a lot of intangible value to the club. I think the players in MKE like him, he is a good veteran presence and last year you could almost always count on a good at bat. Aside from that, he is still beloved by fans and just simply known around the state. I couldn't explain why, but my 5 year-old was not interested in any jersey tee other than his. He barely knows the game and still demands we always see Braun bat. Anybody would have signed Braun to the deal he got at the time he got it. There's always risk in any deal that size but I guess I don't see the deal as really impeding anything the team has done and still view him as a + player, not to mention a legend of the franchise.
  16. I was at 3 of the 4 opening series games and dealt with red birds fans every night. I have to admit it was a lot more pleasant than the Cubs experience. I didn't get any animosity at all and it was usually just stuff like "Who is this guy" "Is this guy any good" "where is a good place for ___" There were a TON of their fans at all the games and just seemed way less obnoxious.
  17. With you. I think the message board schtick here is a little bit of fun, usually gets me initially. The OM stuff is stupid and they ran like 45 of them thus defeating the purpose. I think it's funny when you work one in and people believe it, like the famous one about the fake pitcher in SI.
  18. I'm confused. Why was the OnMilwaukee story linked? What point was being driven home there? That they also posted something fake or that theirs was better, or what?
  19. This Kimbrel situation is exactly why we're headed for a strike. The Players Union is really sick of proven, veteran guys not getting "taken care of." I know that's outrageous to a bunch of peons like ourselves, but from their perspective you have to understand it. The owners pocket gobs of cash off the most productive years of guys like that, and they want their piece of the pie. It's time to pay the bill and suddenly no one wants him on a multi-year deal. They can't throw away money on guys because they feel warm and fuzzy about it, but just saying it's a complicated issue.
  20. I actually have grown to enjoy west coast road trips. Everyone in my house is asleep and it's a very peaceful time to sit back and enjoy a game.
  21. Yelich has already said he loves MKE and would love to get an extension. It's just unlikely since he did sign one with Miami and is sitting front row as Machado and Trout sign monster deals. He said he has no regrets, and that's believable, but it's also entirely reasonable and expected that he plans on getting his in a few years. You hate to say this out loud, but depending on what's going on with the Brewers at the time, he is a likely trade candidate in the second to last or last year of that deal. You could probably get the kind of haul in return that cities like MKE need to stay competitive.
  22. If somebody with more money than the Brewers suffers a bad injury he could end up with a lot of money. My guess is at this point if he knows it's going to be 1-2 year deal he wants a TON of cash.
  23. We don't have the 2018 we did without Yelich, so it is already a great trade for us. I don't really care if all those guys become stars, that was an amazing, fun year. My brother still argues with me to death that the Sabathia trade was bad because we mortgaged the farm. In his words it doesn't matter that LaPorta flamed out because we didn't know that at the time and therefore it was bad since we only got half a season of CC. It gives me a headache every time.
