  1. Yes and he's done the exact same things when they are. He's always yelled at receivers. He has always been frustrated when the offense isn't set when he wants to be. He's always growled at the sidelines when he doesn't like a playcall. At what point do you just accept that the team is worse and maybe Rodgers doesn't have to visit the spirit master atop Kilimanjaro to "get right"? He is fine. They will be fine. This "bad leader" and "ego" stuff making the rounds again is such a cold take. Do we really think his personaliity, talent or both changed that drastically? Or is more likely the massive amount of roster turnover had consequences?
  2. He's made it a point multiple times this year that he himself has missed the mark or played poorly. I don't know what else people expect. I don't think any body language or post game lingo would make people happy. If he's smiling and patting guys on the butt he has no competive fire and isn't taking it seriously or some other dumb thing. They need to win or the Colin Cowherds of the world will always be pulling the reasons why out of thin air.
  3. It's revisionist in the sense that when he makes the same faces and says the same stuff nobody cares if they are winning. Changing one's view on a previously accepted thing = revisionist. Rodgers personality did not change in 2018. He has always had a tinge of confidence, cockiness or arrogance to him, the adjective just gets interchanged based on how many wins they have. If they recover and go 12-4 the narrative will be that he's "playing loose" again and "having fun!" It's the same sports radio blubber babble with many athletes in many sports. It's never allowed to be as simple as "they sucked and now they're better."
  4. Don't put them in the dishwasher. Wrecked one already. Maybe it says that. I didn't pay attention. Oops.
  5. When we're picking apart the pronouns guys use and their facial expressions it's just nothing but revisionist jibber jabber. I think everybody needs to step off the psychology chair and just admit it's a young team that hasn't learned how to win. I fully expect a vastly improved team next year, which I did not expect coming into this one. Felt they had one foot in rebuild and one foot in 'we can do this' mode. This year they got honest about what they are.
  6. I missed today's game, but sounds like it was the necessary final nail on this season. Philbin is likely replaced, and hopefully a full fresh start from the staff and strategy. What a stinker. This won't happen, but I would actually be OK with Matthews back on a contract that pays him just as a rush specialist. He's become the lightning rod, but I still think he has value on a team, just at a veteran role player rate rather than what he gets now.
  7. Forgot about GOT. You're right. Not as sure on Sandlot. I thought last year was some sort of Sandlot anniversary and thus why they did it. But you can bank on them replacing it with some other film if they don't do it.
  8. Just a guess, but with the amount of new accounts they opened last year and the amount of 4-packs and increased sales they will see already from 2018's success, there will probably not be as many promotions. There is a cost to the team that's less necessary to take on if they've already sold a bunch of tickets. This announcement last year had 16 promotions. Star Wars, Marvel, Peanuts, Stitch n Pitch, SSH are virtual locks. Coaches vs Cancer very likely. Then they always seem to add one after the season starts.
  9. I got a cool SSH pint glass set today in the mail. Wasn't expecting anything like that. Neat.
  10. I'm sure someone is going to object to this, but there is no reason to have an advisor unless you have no willpower whatsoever and need hand-holding for 30-40 years. I do think it can be valuable to do a one-time fee appointment to get direction, but after that you are simply better off using your 401k and a Roth IRA at Fidelity or Vanguard that's just set to automatic investments. The fee is simply a waste of money and just not needed for a regular person's amount of assets. There is no trick to it. It's putting money in low-cost index funds and letting it sit there for a long time. That's it. Then, you may benefit from meeting with someone again when you are preparing to shut it down to get some clarity on the best ways to do that, but that's only if you don't know what you're doing. If you're investing a million dollars at a time you may benefit from an advisor who can locate value investments but I'm guessing that's not you or most people here.
  11. If Cain had hit .219 this year we'd be calling it a loss. He would have to fall off the face of the Earth in about the next 18 months for that deal to ever be considered really bad. And he is 33, not 53. Plenty of baseball players can still run approaching 40.
  12. I was really happy to see Fielder in there, really cool. But for years I've been clamoring for a retro series of some of the lesser known Brewers legends. Always wanted them to do Cirillo.
  13. Just to illustrate fan bias, the 3-10 49ers have 5 losses by a touchdown or less. There is no team losing 35-3 every week. Like I have said, the line between winning and losing teams is thin, it's winning close games. Without verifying, I'm sure their message board thinks they are right about to turn the corner and are a handful of plays from 8-5. If the Packers do beat the Bears I believe that will be their first "winning streak" of the season. I just can't assume Lions and Jets wins, not with this team, but if they do beat the Bears and the Dolphins win it moves from "stop dreaming" to "wouldn't that be funny" territory.
  14. Barely beating SF in a vacuum isn't evidence of a bad team. When you are sitting 5-7-1 and have lost a bunch of games that way, that isn't "having it both ways," that's the team you've been all year - one that can't close. I don't buy the Bears though. I've thought all year they're a one and done. I think the NFC overall is putrid this season. The Packers winning this weekend wouldn't be a big shock, I'm just not sure this team is capable of rattling off 4 straight wins. I like Dallas to come out of the NFC. They're one of the more battle-tested teams that's endured a real rollercoaster this year. Roster is loaded with talent, have the big midseason addition of Cooper and really seem to be firing at the right time. For once, they're not really the favorite or top seed heading into the playoffs. They're just giving me that under-the-radar vibe and I think they're good enough to beat anyone in the NFC.
  15. I don't get people's confidence in the Packers winning out. It's actually amazing to me. This is a team that lost to ARI at home and very nearly SF at home. Have they won 2 games in a row all year? I don't think they have. Even if they pull that off, I agree most of the other criteria is likely to happen, except for Minny losing two. Don't think that will happen.
  16. I love the bobbles, but miss the early years of 3x per year. I'm legitimately running out of shelf space to the point I need to go to Home Depot and cut some new pine to add in shelving. Eventually I'll be flat out of room though. The 12 per year thing is getting tiresome.
  17. Not really late, it's announced this time-ish every year so I was expecting it this week. There will also be more. There are no theme nights listed, and those are good for 3-4 more bobbles. Bank on Stitch n Pitch, Star Wars as they are home again on Saturday, May 4, Peanuts, Marvel, and likely 1-2 others. They seemed to trend toward more Theme Night packages last year for harder to sell nights. Themes nights will come out late Jan, and annoyingly they usually tack 1-2 on during the season.
  18. He could have said he didn't want to comment on it, like he did with Pettine. I'll be very surprised if he's the HC.
  19. They did. Murphy said he was an honest candidate for the job. He would not go that far with Pettine would asked. Blowing smoke possibly, but he did say it.
  20. Damarious Randall comes out defending MM. He may be a little biased in his assessment of trading away good players https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2018/12/07/packers-morning-buzz-damarious-randall-criticizes-mike-mccarthy-firing/2221777002/
  21. DS is a lot smarter than I am but I would have liked him back on that deal. For some reason I just still have a hard time giving up on him.
  22. My thing is, if we're that dependent on picking high to get this thing turned around, we are in bigger trouble than I think. I have faith in BK to get this rolling again. I think he can get us contributors regardless of where the pick is. The same bottom dwelling teams are picking high every year with little success for the most part, and the traditionally good teams seem to do just fine picking lower. The only drawback I see to finishing 4-0, is if they actually do play well, do you really consider sticking with Philbin? It would be hard to justify letting him go if they look like a different offense under him and win a bunch of games. I highly doubt he's coaching them next year, just something I've wondered about.
  23. I prefer to see them end the year on a high note rather than jockey for a high draft pick. That's exactly what they did McCarthy's first season, winning the final four to finish 8-8. Then they had that great 2007 season. A draft pick just doesn't mean much to me. The last time they picked really high they got AJ Hawk. Then they got Raji 9th I think, and he was good, but look where that went. They got Matthews 26th, and as far as he's fallen he was a big playmaker for them for years. If they know they're doing, they're getting a good player in the first round whether it's 7th or 19th. There are a lot of young players on this team that would grow from playing well and winning the last few games here. As fans, the games are meaningless, for the number of 1st and 2nd year players on this roster, they're not. I'll always want to see them win games regardless of where it's landing them in April. It's just not like the NBA where you're tanking to get LBJ or something.
  24. Lack of depth on the OL was a big time known problem entering the season. Bulaga is totally unreliable, so to be frank I blame them not being prepared there. I don't really see a bunch of the injuries they've had as extremely significant. Guys get hurt every year, not many of their big dogs have beyond the early one with AR. Bakhtiari was banged up but played through most of it. The biggest ones I can think of were probably Wilkerson, though he was a bit of a dice roll, and Allison, who was on his way to being a 1,000 yard guy this year before getting hurt, and seemed to really have AR's faith. When he went down coupled with Cobb being out again, those guys were really in a trial by fire situation. Fans have a habit of listing all the things that go wrong in a year and then "what iffing" all of those things not happening. I see baseball fans do it all the time, where they assume every blown save could have been saved and then add on those wins. It doesn't work like that; some things would not have gone their way regardless, so I think 10-2 is a bit of fan goggling. With some better luck maybe 7-5 or something, but that would be about what they've been for three years now, the only difference being AR is playing worse.
  25. This is probably old news but I am just seeing it for the first time. Vanguard lowered the minimums for admiral shares from $10k per fund to $3k. That is a really nice little bonus for younger people just starting out.
