  1. Well yeah if we're going to compare career totals for a guy that blew his ACL in Week 1 of Year 4 and was clearly never the same again. I think your post implies that he didn't live up to being drafted #20, which is a bit obtuse to me as he ascended every year in the league, topped out in his 3rd year as one of the top 5 best WRs in the league and then blew out his ACL. For my money, he was a much better, more talented player than Donald Driver. Walker was a prototype #1 you build an offense around; Driver was usually not even the best WR on the team unless the team was very bad. IMO, Walker was the most gifted WR the Packers have had between Sterling Sharpe and Davante Adams. I wouldn't argue with anyone claiming Jordy, but Walker was that level of talent. If we're taking a snapshot of his career stats, Bill Schroeder was better. I love DD before the mob comes for me, but his trademark was always grit and longevity and toughness. But he was never a true superstar.
  2. I remembered Walker being pretty damn amazing before his holdout so I wanted to look it up; his last season in GB was phenomenal. He was 3rd in the league in yards (1382 - a lot more back then than it is today), by about 20 yards on 20 fewer targets than 1 and 2. I remember him being a magnet that season, coming down with anything that went his way. Then he ended his holdout, got hurt in Week 1 thus proving his point, went to Denver had one OK year but was never the same. Talent wise, he was every bit the star he was picked to be; just got derailed by that injury.
  3. I don't know if the Brewers will be very good this year, but I would think, I don't know why, that people would learn to calm down after so many years of this. It's APRIL. Even if it were June and we were 6GB, I'd be saying there's a lot of baseball left, but it's APRIL. It takes one stretch of going 8-2 for things to reshape.
  4. Douglas was bad last year. I just don't see it. They have a bunch of super young CBs on their roster right now. It's the Packers. They'll let those guys duke it out for depth. I will be very surprised if they sign a veteran unless it's someone cut by another team.
  5. I didn't run any tests on Dame but I have injured my achilles back when I was actually athletic. I do wonder if the race to get back from DVT + the conditioning setback that would cause, was causing overcompensation issues and ultimately led to this. Pretty dumb considering they were probably losing this series either way.
  6. Yeah you're correct
  7. Time to take the Bucks out back. Extra sleep is more important than this. I don't think the Bucks were going to win another title with Giannis, but an ACL for Dame completely slams that door shut, more so because they can't get rid of him now.
  8. Yes and it's the only thing we've won since 2021 and the last thing we will, so I'm going to enjoy it.
  9. Can't trade Dame and can't play him for a year. Lovely.
  10. I'm just not seeing CB as a big weakness. Jaire shouldn't even count as a loss, they were playing without him most of the year. Ballentine is just a guy, Stokes is mediocre and at least held together last year, but no issue with him walking. Valentine may be the best CB on the team; very excited to see what happens with him. He's still 23, and a hell of a 7th round pick. Hobbs should be ok, Nixon the same. They are strong at safety, which helps. Bullard is average depth type of player. IMO there are 3 things to close the gap to being a real contender. 1. Gute is right that the pass rushers are already on the team 2. Jordan Love has a much better season 3. Golden is a significant contributor right away
  11. They already signed a corner and more importantly Jaire was barely on the team last season. They also signed two UDFAs and knowing the Packers, it's a lot more likely one of them makes the team or they tack on another team's cuts than it is that they sign a veteran at this point of the year. They would have already signed one of the notable names if they wanted to. Realistically they are at a net loss of one corner without Jaire. +Hobbs, -Ballentine and Stokes.
  12. Just felt like Contreras had to go yard or this would happen.
  13. This kind of thing happens a lot, where a position gets so neglected for a while, someone starts using it again, and it comes back in style. Guard has been seen as a secondary position for a long time. Tight end was an extra blocker for a long time, now it's hard to be one if you can't get downfield. Fullback disappeared, now it's slowly coming back as there are smaller players in the box.
  14. Imagine falling to 144 only to still get drafted by the Browns.
  15. It's a good problem to have. They have Walker, Morgan, Belton and Rhyan competing for 2 jobs. Walker probably has a leg up, but most can move around on the line. Three will likely start a game with injuries, possibly four. If Belton is even mediocre you have 7 capable OL. I'll see how they plan to use Williams first. I read it was his play as a ball carrier that got them excited. To me the translation there is he will see time in the running game where Reed is used. I find the article pretty sensationalized, particularly comparing stats with another WR from a different school. Stats from college aren't worth a lick. It's completely dependent on how their college coach uses them and has nothing to do an NFL scheme. Third round flyer on a 6'5, sub 4.5 40, when you badly need WR talent, isn't something I'll ever be upset about.
  16. The Packers draft has signified the Packeritis epidemic to perfection. On another Packers forum, the Packers "had one of the best WR groups in the NFL, just no standout star" as of last week. If you peruse the same board today, the two picks are being praised as desperately needed to bolster the WR group. Hilarious. That said I like both of the picks, I do think they need more talent there, and I am glad they got their big body, wherever they play to use him. Gute must REALLY believe they do have the pass rushers on the roster already. Everyone wants Reggie White, but I never got the sense their defense limited them last year. Their offense was 100% the reason they lost to Philadelphia.
  17. I'm just glad the Packers recognize their talent deficiency at the skill positions and aren't listening to most of their fans. Thank God Gute isn't happy with having the 4th best No. 4 WR in the league. Love needs better targets. We've still got people pretending Bo Melton is an asset. Doubs is gone after this year if he isn't traded before then, and who knows what the future is for Watson. They would have very likely needed to draft one next year anyway.
  18. Doc Rivers, coach of the year?
  19. Then you should know better than anyone that April is way too early for generalizations. There's a probably a team in first place tonight that will win 78 games.
  20. 2023. They were .500 after 68 games. Baseball is just long. Very long.
  21. It's too early. We've all seen this before. I still think this is a winning team, they just haven't really gotten into much of a rhythm at all yet.
  22. No, but starting on offense and defense are very different things. Starting on defense doesn't mean much outside of the secondary. The front 7 are constantly swapped around and rotated, if you aren't "starting" you can still play 1/3 of the snaps and be a major difference maker. The OL isn't doing that unless somebody's hurt. Like I said, it's hard to get too worked up about OL; they have drafted them pretty well and there always seems to be a shortage of them. Just a bit tough to be excited about picks who aren't going to play this year unless something goes wrong. I guess there is a 4-man competition for 2 spots with Rhyan, Walker, Morgan and Belton.
  23. Yeah, that would be my issue as well. His whole spiel about competing now and even saying you need your draft picks to contribute, and that the time of developing them for 3 years is over...it's very unlikely that Morgan and Belton both start the year as starters. Probably damn near impossible. It's disappointing.
  24. I do think it's funny when people claim someone is a reach. I heard all week Shadeur was the next big thing. I really doubt Belton was going to last to the mid 3rd if GB took him 54.
