  1. You can see a break from the trend in recent history though. It goes from happening just about every year to 2 out of the last 6. One of those being a Covid bubble year and both of them being against a 5th and 8th seed. There has definitely been a shift in the NBA where teams are placing less emphasis on their seed and are content to just qualify as 3 or 4 if it means resting their stars. That didn't used to happen.
  2. The East playoffs were terrible. I think Boston would have made it anyway, but the injuries made the whole thing a waste of time. It appears BOS will cakewalk, but Dallas seems to have that hot hand going for them.
  3. My nights are always booked up so I was thinking about watching this one, then got exhausted figuring out the most efficient way to watch it and flipped the radio on again.
  4. It's definitely a more recent trend though. I think load management has changed a lot. The season is just too long with too many back-to-backs to be overly concerned with seed. In the NBA I grew up watching there were usually 2-4 teams that you pretty much knew would be in the CFs and they rarely finished below 2. It's still sort of like that, but seems much more common that they end the season in 3rd or 4th than 1st, as well as low seeds moving past 1 round which was unheard of in the East for many years. The Bucks finishing 3rd wouldn't have been a big deal, it was more that they just never looked good at any point. In a single game maybe, but they just never seemed to gel. There was something off about this team all year long and I think everyone was hoping they'd hit another gear later on, but it never happened.
  5. I find it kind of mystifying that Horst is any kind of hot item. His "plan" has been have Giannis and get a bunch of breaks one year. Yeah, there's some stuff they got right (Tucker, Holiday) but for the most part the development of the roster has been horrendous.
  6. The injuries stunk, but all in all it feels like a fitting end to the season. I can't really say I'm confident they win if Giannis had played. They just never got going this year. Kept waiting for things to gel and it just never happened.
  7. I mean this is it really. It'd be hard to see them losing if they force a Game 7. Definitely more plausible if Lillard can actually play.
  8. Is Giannis looming? Why do I feel like he's done for the year and they just won't say it.
  9. Unpopular opinion but the age-old tradition of throwing at a guy because he did something naughty is one of the dumbest things in sports. They rarely care that they've been hit and I'll never understand how giving the opponent a free runner is some cool, good thing to do. Ejection was equally dumb though.
  10. I doubt it. Going up 3-1 changed the urgency for Indiana. They'll put them away quietly in 6.
  11. The big three is too old. There's almost zero possibility of those guys all being available for the NBA's 2-month playoff run. Their tradable assets wouldn't net enough win-now pieces to make a difference. They are a mess. They needed something big to happen like Marjon shocking the world and becoming an all-star level player. I give them credit for swinging on Dame and I don't think running it back with Holiday would have been any better, but it's not going to work.
  12. The window is shut. It's a question now of whether they deal Giannis to try and salvage some kind of rebuild or just play it out with 42-48 win seasons where everyone knows they aren't a true contender, which has been the case since 2 years after the championship. We sold out to win one, and we won one. It does feel like we could have gotten a second one, but I'd argue the time to do that was probably 2019. The sun has set on this era. I like Giannis, so I hope he is able to pile one or two on with somebody else.
  13. I don't think Turbo was making this point, but I find it laughable when people have complained about kids at the press conferences. Nothing of value comes of those. My favorite is when it's called "unprofessional."
  14. There's always that one guy the whole fan base randomly obsesses over and it was Dejean this year.
  15. If Giannis isn't healthy enough to play they weren't going to win 4 games anyway. If he is healthy enough to play, I don't think it's over quite yet.
  16. 6 seconds is eternity. That's a recipe for Wiscon heartbreak. You nail two ridiculous shots and then get crushed.
  17. That sequence was one of the most embarrassing and unbelievable things I've seen in the NBA in a long time.
  18. I'm completely shocked they made this a game.
  19. Fork'em. A disaster of a season from day one.
  20. You can never have too many OL. No issues with it.
  21. Nothing would be funnier to me than Caleb Williams sucking.
  22. That's exactly what I've started doing. As I said I just don't go anymore, but for now, I've still been buying the bobbles. The prices on them also completely collapse in the offseason. The Doyle one may lean toward the exception there, but the standard ones end up going for $5 within 2 years. I can afford going to games, but do feel like the value prop has diminished. Lots of reasons why, but I think AmFam is lackluster on food, I'm probably getting old and grump about crowds and traffic, and to be honest the sustained success has just made me spoiled. I don't feel like I need to go anymore.
  23. I wouldn't even bother having Giannis go until they've lost 2 games - and obviously he's physically able to play. That was a huge win if for no other reason than meaning they leave MKE with the extra 2 days off, at worst, tied 1-1. If they can go to Indiana up 2-0 it's incredible. He wouldn't even necessarily have to travel with them.
  24. That game seemed incredibly short.
  25. Haven't seen that name in a while. Had a friend that named him Yuniesky Badatsports.
