  1. I'm not too happy about Rivers getting the gig but I guess he does have a lot of experience around superstar players and carries some clout.
  2. Unpopular zany opinion: the best available coach is Bud. If they had simply not fired him and gotten Lillard that would have solved one of Bud's biggest problems. I realize this would never happen, but I don't think it's any less true.
  3. I think that's a stretch. I do think there were larger culture issues happening most likely, but their defense isn't bad, it's nonexistent. It's like they can't play a game without giving up 130 points. To say defense wasn't in the top 5 reasons is just silly. It was probably the #1 on-court factor. There are also like 15 black coaches in the NBA. That bridge has been crossed for quite some time now, not like this is baseball or even football. Everyone watching this team can tell they look lazy and soft. That is a direct reflection of a coach, whether it's Xs and Os or they don't like the guy. He had to go regardless of pigment.
  4. The standard is championship or bust and he was 100% not going to get them there. Outstanding shrewd move. They may not get there anyway but they were absolutely not doing it with him.
  5. On Barry, I have to wonder if Jim Leonard is available and if that matters to MLF. Leonard probably regrets not taking that job given what happened at UW. Would he really rather be senior analyst at Illinois over NFL DC? I'm not a UW fan so I don't care all that much but that's the first name I thought of.
  6. They like Wilson. He had a strong preseason and showed potential as a home run threat. Had an 80 yard run and a bunch of long gains. It took forever to play because of the protection duties. I think he's really likely to be on the team next year.
  7. We're neutral on the Lions because they suck. They win a Super Bowl and you will not only know a lot more Lions fans, but they will be louder than you imagine. I remember when the Patriots were benign. It's probably a generational thing, but to be honest, the Bears don't even register on my hated teams list. I absolutely hate the Seahawks and always cheer for their failure. I was at the Fail Mary and I've never got over how douchey the fans are. Throw in 2014 and it's a recipe for lifetime hate.
  8. The 49ers-Packers monkey is honestly a pretty lame story in my opinion. The Packers have been a heavy underdog in every single game but one. Both Kaepernick games they had no business winning and very nearly did win one of them. The NFCCG was thought to be a laugher and it was. The only one the Packers really, truly blew was the blocked punt fiasco. But every other game including Saturday's, has been a game nobody really gave the Packers a chance to win. That said, I'm sick of losing to them, but I think I've come around to hoping they win the NFC. I think Packers fans are forgetting just how annoying it is going to be if there's a healthy franchise in our division. Nobody my age (late 30s) has seen an NFCN foe play in a Super Bowl outside of the Grossman Bears losing and Tampa at the turn of the century (I think their first year out of our division). I really don't need to see the Lions win a Super Bowl. If there's a silver lining right now it's that the Packers can't get knocked out by Detroit. I don't really care for anyone left. I guess the Chiefs winning again is whatever, no harm, no foul. Not a huge Harbaugh fan but I guess I'd prefer either AFC team.
  9. They have to keep Jones but they also need to use an early pick on a RB. He is pretty likely to miss time and at the age where RB drop off a cliff overnight. An elite RB is Love's best friend going forward. I would love for us to have a stud in waiting there instead of taking flyers on low-rated talent. I get that RB is treated how it is but there is such a huge difference in having a top talent guy vs. what most of the league does.
  10. I don't know about that. He definitely was horrible in the 4th and hit some great throws prior to that, but he did seem a bit jumpy and off throughout the night. His first INT was also a bad throw behind the target which caused the bobble. He had a couple to that flat too that were way off. Not horrible through 3 quarters by any stretch and I thought he was "good" at half, but his 2nd half was meh.
  11. I honestly thought their offensive line was magnificent last night. That is not some crappy front they were up against and they ran great and usually had time to throw. You never have too many OL so by all means draft some. But they also need secondary help, even with the established players they have, some may be gone or gone soon, never healthy, etc. That and a kicker. On paper there is a lot to like in most other spots but as we know too well the game isn't played on paper.
  12. Purdy is a very good game manager type. Nothing I saw last night changed my mind. He was Green Bay Santa Claus and we returned all the presents. He sucked worse than Love did.
  13. While you are absolutely correct, it is hard to mentally separate the two as a fan. Random teams seem to plop into the Super Bowl routinely. The Packers meanwhile, are always good enough to do that, they just never do it.
  14. The Packers have been making youthful mistakes with old guys for 13 years. Youth excuse works this year by coincidence. They got hot at the right time and had a great opportunity. I can't as easily assume they will "be back." And I'm usually glass half full rational. But I just can't stand the way this team continually loses in January - specifically the ways in which they do. I'm not kidding when I say that my mindset after the Jones run was that they had to get 6 or they were 100% going to lose. It is just built into my DNA at this point. You just know they won't finish.
  15. The problem with this is, by the end of the season, it is where they were at, whether or not fans expected it in September. Do you think after last year's run, Eagles fans thought they'd run it back and lose 32-9 to Tampa in the first round? This assumption that the Packers just ascend is just that, an assumption. The fact is they were in position to win last night, should have, and would be playing a very beatable opponent to get back to their first Super Bowl in 13 years. And instead they're where they always are, done, lamenting a handful of chokey plays. I just can't be positive with this team anymore. They've made a master class of blowing it when gifts are dropped in their lap.
  16. Anders should have been off the team in October. They absolutely should have been trying guys out until someone stuck. It wouldn't have been hard to find a guy who can make PATs. He's 26, he's not developing. He's never been accurate. Cut ties and move on. Tbh I think they still lose the game if he makes it, they needed to put the ball in the end zone on that drive, but it doesn't change that the guy absolutely sucks and they shouldn't be leveraging entire seasons hoping he can "figure it out". I assume the Super Bowl is now the goal, this guy is not the kicker for them. Or anyone.
  17. Love sucked. It is what it is. He was fire for 9 weeks or whatever and then tonight he sucked. It's a single game so it's silly to define it as this or that but sports are fickle and if he has a game like that next year those sentiments will grow louder.
  18. I think Love will be a multiple time all pro but probably throw stupid passes like that forever and the Packers will keep doing this good but not championship thing that they do because, well, it is just what the Packers do. And I'm sure Anders will be sucking for them next season as well.
  19. He sucked. Unfortunately for him, so did their guy but we didn't catch his mistakes so nobody will remember them. But Love was terrible.
  20. Love's last throw is very concerning to me. I'm going to try not to read into it all spring and summer but good grief was that stupid. You're at the 40 with 2 timeouts. 40 seconds is an eternity and you're down by 3, albeit your kicker is useless. That was a horrific throw and he was horrendous in the 2nd half. If that is what we're going to get on a game winning drive, yikes.
  21. Seems to usually end like that for us but wowzers did we blow this one. Purdy was pretty terrible, we didn't catch his INTs. We kicked too many FGs and then of course missed the biggest one of the night. I think the mantra will be that nobody expected them to get this far but meh, they really, really should have gone farther. Feels like the same old crap again, to be cynical but honest. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in classic Packer fashion. Young and growth and yadda yadda yadda but nothing next year is guaranteed. They blew it again and had a weak field in this conference.
  22. From Favre to Rodgers to Favre I see.
  23. Yeah make sure Anders is warmed up 😂
  24. -Horrible set of plays after Jones run -Carlson should absolutely not be on this team if there is a next week, and definitely not next year.
