  1. Another consideration - though a very difficult one to quantify - would be opportunity cost. For the players that "made it to the big leagues", but produced negative WAR, you introduce an "opportunity cost". In other words, we have someone a chance to play in the big leagues that didn't make it. That is an opportunity where we might've been able to find another free agent (yes, budget constraints) that could've produced better (even league average 0 WAR is better than negative) for those seasons. So not only did we incur the negative WAR, we missed the opportunity of trying someone else there too. A double negative on those players and a painful impact of the 2011 draft.
  2. I'm bummed that they haven't figured out how to stream family night on the NFL+ app yet. I was hoping this would be included as a "preseason" game. #OutOfMarketPain
  3. Good you didn't because that probably would've brought a ban. But is it coincidental that we trade for Bush after the Brewers switch from Coors/Miller sponsorship to Anheuser Busch? Conspiracy theory??? ? edit: Scratch that... it was the Bucks that switched. But still...
  4. I'm still stumped by the trade and DFA of Lamet, but I'd bet money they held onto Severino to the deadline hoping to use him as trade bait. Otherwise, why bother activating him at all? We already had 2 catchers playing better than him. I'd still take Feliciano over Severino. Feliciano will probably hit about the same, but at least has some upside to him.
  5. Tatis actually bugs me, but its mainly from ads, hype, etc... He is good, but can't stay healthy. He comes off as very smug at times.
  6. I try to reserve my distain for the larger market teams, but there a couple guys on the Padres that I don't care for, so I'm kind of "meh" on them.
  7. Brewers: I don't now where we'd fit in another bat Also Brewers: Let's put in our 3rd catcher and career 678 OPS hitter as a pinch hitter. Hmmm...
  8. Well the brewers got an A+ for doing completely the opposite of what I thought they'd do... Stearns has done really well in the past for finding pieces we need while improving the team long term too. Maybe that will happen this time, but that isn't immediately obvious with these additions. The Hader trade is growing on me the more I read about Ruiz and Gasser. Bush doesn't excite me despite "multiple years of control". Solid D
  9. I can't say I'm happy about the history that is coming out , but at some point you do need to let people pay their debt and move on. If he hasn't learned from his past mistakes (I'm assuming the front office checked this out), then I'd be pretty upset.
  10. Yeah, I'm there too High end arm with control issues. We've had many of those. If it works, he could be a really good BP arm, but the likelyhood of him hitting is low, IMO.
  11. Back to the trade people. Attacking each other isn't allowed.
  12. Not that Mark Mathias is all that great... but he was one of the few on the team actually hitting well this year. And we get another reliever? With this and Hader's trade, we are +2 in the BP with a few injured guys getting healthy. And still no bats. I guess I'm not getting what we are fixing at this point. Antoine Kelly might become something...but I just the feeling that he is going to be a "meh" BP guy in 4 years.
  13. I'll second that. Getting back two BP arms isn't too surprising. But I figured the two prospects would be a bit higher regarded. Maybe one top 100 level prospect back. I know nothing about Gasser or Ruiz, but a 23yo A-baller can't be very thrilling. I wonder if something was going on with Hader?...
  14. Yes. Very unfortunate that it died... I loved hanging out there and tried to put a lot of content out to make it interesting.. but alas it wasn't to be.
  15. There is this great site called LambeauLeap.net...
  16. I predicted a while back that Doubs would have more catches than Watson. Watson will get more deep ball chances and certainly will have more gimmick plays drawn up for him, which will probably mean he gets more yards. But in terms of the normal WR routes and catches, I'm thinking Doubs has the leg up.
  17. This is so stupid... so people stream on their tablet/phone and cast it to their TV. Though I'm happy to see that the cost for premium is actually less than I was paying for NFL Replay last year.
  18. I've not followed this situation too closely, but I'm pretty sure that the lack of criminal suits is based on lack of physical evidence (which there wouldn't be based on the accusations). I'm not crazy about "guilty until proven innocent" direction, but I also wouldn't want to continue light wrist-slaps for abusive behavior just because we did it like that before.
  19. If I was a Packer blog writer, I'd have a yearly tongue-in-cheek article on BSOHL.
  20. I think having him "return" last year after more than a year away from ACL surgery, then have yet another setback, not participate in the entire offseason, and still not be ready for TC can't be anything but concerning. Sure, he won't take much to get ready but simply not being able to get healthy is a bad sign, IMO.
  21. That had to be all centerfield defense driving it. Didn't have much with the bat. Interesting to know that Braun had more career WAR than anyone in his draft. There was so much discussion comparing him with Gordon and Zimmerman. And yes... I was happy Cleveland chose Brantley over Green...at the time. Ouch.
