  1. Interesting. My mom made homemade kraut and I've eaten authentic German kraut (in Munich), but I've never cared for it. This actually sounds pretty interesting...
  2. The raw numbers of Pro Bowlers are pretty interesting, but it would be more complete if they had the Pro Bowlers per WR drafted in the rounds. I'd guess #1 and #2 rounds are similar, but the would complete his thought if it was included.
  3. Does anyone know if the games have sped up as a result of fewer hits?
  4. If he is half-way competent, he ought to be kicking himself. This was what most people thought he should do from day 1 (or at least after proving QB wasn't reality). [sarcasm]OOOOhhh maybe Tebow can replace Rodgers as QB this year![/sarcasm] I'm surprised the print media hasn't picked up on that yet with as sensational as the reporting has been so far...
  5. My wife liked to put grape jelly on brats before we met. I put an end to that and have never actually seen her put grape jelly on one. I could see trying chili on brats (hey, it does make crappy hot dogs taste better), but JELLY??? Uhgggg.
  6. [sarcasm]Oh, I don't know... The 49ers might leak something out again.[/sarcasm]
  7. That is a big negatory... Scrap the whole team and trade everyone else... Those two are so rare and cheap at the moment... not a chance.
  8. Excellent! Do you need to change your bf.net name now?
  9. The problem is that’s more so classic coach-speak than rooted in any actual probability based reasoning. That’s fine if we want to harken back to the days of “go with your gut” coaching, but the truth is the odds were pretty good Rasmussen wouldn’t have given up a run in the 9th inning with no one beginning the inning on base, and now Hader would have a chance to win you the game in the 10th by stranding the runner. The odds of winning would’ve increased significantly in that scenario. Even if Rasmussen blew the game then at least you saved an inning on Hader’s arm. ...Now lets hope Rasmussen just strikes everyone out anyway. I hope this doesn't come off snarky but please show your data/proof showing that it is statically better to hold Hader for the 10th. I was going back and forth on this in my mind too. Certainly would prefer Hader with one on second given this K rate. But I'd hate to bring Ras into the 9th and have him give up the lead with Hader in the BP...
  10. No. Alex Smith got kind of screwed in San Francisco. 5 different offensive coordinators in his first 5 years. Changed offensive coordinators part way thorough his 6th season. Had a new head coach and 7th offensive coordinator in his 7th season. His 8th season he had the same coordinator for the start of a second season in a row for only the second time but got injured and lost his job to Kaepernick. I don't see how anyone could succeed during that dysfunctional mess of years in San Fran. The real question is if Alex Smith could've beat Rodgers/Kaepernick in the 2014 playoffs and made my only playoff game live a better experience?
  11. Being from Utah State is pretty meaningless. The 2021 #3 overall pick just came from NDSU. Love was pretty widely thought of a good physical prospect with development needed. He isn't chopped liver... But still, 1st round QBs flame out at what... 50% rate? Frankly, sitting behind Rodgers for a couple of years isn't the worst thing for him... There are no guarantees that Rodgers will actually physically be able to play after another year or two... And if he is and Love is looking good in pre-season and/or some regular season games, it makes the most sense to trade him off.
  12. This is absolutely the best sports news I've heard in a long time! Lakers currently the 7th seed and a game out of 6th. And since #8 is the Warriors, that wouldn't be a gimme game either... Love it!
  13. Uh... how do you know he won't be afforded an option to start? - Name me a starting QB that started every game for 4 years from years 37 onward? - Name me a starting QB - not Tom Brady - that has been effective for 4 years past 37? (and even some of Tom's years were iffy) And as happened during Favre's era... developing a back up QB and trading him after a couple years is still an option.
  14. If he hates Gute I could see him just letting this thing carry on for a while to make Gute look bad. I'd like to point out that his unhappiness with McCarthy played out over a long time with Rodgers really not saying much about the situation. So perhaps he just thinks he'll do the same thing. Let stories leak out about how he doesn't like this or that thing, etc., etc. Either gets him traded, or Gute removed, or Rodgers more power/money/whatever he wants. My first point was more about Rodgers responsibility "if it wasn't true". People were asking what Rodgers "should" do and what the Packers "should" do. The Packers already came out publicly to state they want Rodgers to play and other indications they want it to work. Rodgers hasn't (no, I don't count leaks through his friends to count). Frankly, it might stink for Love to sit a couple years, but it did for Rodgers too. That isn't part of the equation. And at the risk of beating a dead horse: #1 way to win a SB: HOF QB on a rookie contract (Seattle) #2 way: HOF QB on any contract. #3 way: Veteran QB with big D + Running game - No time in the last 20 years has a non-HOF (a subjective measure by my estimation) QB on a rookie contract, won the SB (a couple lost it). And all QBs on a rookie contract in getting to the SB (minus Tom Brady) were in their 4th or 5th year. The probability of any 1st round QB being a HOF is very low. Maybe Love will be our 3rd in a row... more likely he won't be. Best chance right now is Rodgers. Edit - I should clarify there are actually more #2 (HOF QB winning a SB) than #1 (HOF QB on a rookie contract), so my point was a bit muddled. I was trying to emphasize finding the HOF QB is the key.
  15. Someone else mentioned that Rodgers had a better relationship with his backup QBs than Favre (some pages back), but that is pure revisionist history. Favre had far more quality QBs as his backup - even to the point where Mark Brunnell nearly supplanted him as starter. When he was younger, he had a great relationship with many of them. It was really only Rodgers that he didn't. I can't think of a single Rodgers backup QB that went on to be a regular starter on another team. For both of them, I believe it is far more a "mid-life crisis" (i.e. clearly seeing they are getting to the end of their career) issue than relationship with a backup QB.
  16. If Rodgers didn't say he wanted Gute fired, he could've easily refuted that comment. That seems to be one of the more egregious rumors flying around. He also could've done something similar to what the Packers said - yes, there are some issues we are working out, but we are talking as a team. But I'm guessing that will come out in another 2 weeks or so... Seems like these dramas have a similar pattern.
  17. If this is legit and traceable back to the 49ers... does that count as tampering with someone under contract?
  18. Right on track... Edit - Noting my original quote meant that this week we would hear how they "made it up" not "made up". I don't English good.
  19. Not that I ever had a players jersey number to wear, but it was Mark Chmura that made me realize that I wasn't a fan of the player, but the team. My jersey is a "00" with my name on it because players come and players go, but I'm a Packer fan (and owner). But I will grant you that some fans are acting pretty silly about it, too. I've nearly left a couple WI sports Facebook groups just because of the idiocy of some posters. I'll say the same thing about Rodgers that I said about Favre: They have earned the right to play here until their arms fall off (playing well or poorly). But drafting a QB in the first round does not indicate anything about the succession plan. Rodgers played behind Favre for 3 years before starting; and even then only because Favre waffled in his retirement and we drafted two backup QBs behind Rodgers. Rodgers has been pretty healthy, but he has seasons where he was out for long periods - and at 37, that isn't going to get better. We needed a good backup. And even if Rodgers wants to play to 43, his body might start saying otherwise. Just because Tom Brady does something, doesn't mean just anyone can do it... But similar to Favre, when a single player starts putting himself above the team, it was time to go. I'll be happy if Rodgers comes into TC and "smooths things out" like he did last year and simply come to play. But if he insists he can't play with the Packers anymore, then there is the door. Improve communications? Sure. Fix the contract? ok. Give Rodgers personnel decisions and fire the GM? Nope, that is a bridge too far.
  20. Do what I do... just drive it to the shore and pull it up on the bank. I have a canoe, but it's all the same, right?
