  1. That and bringing up another bat until you need another starter. He'll most likely go back down when Anderson's turn in the rotation comes back up.
  2. Shaw had an excellent eye early this season and he seems to have lost it. Lots of chasing bad pitches lately...
  3. There is no harm in a short detour in a thread as long as it doesn't get contentious, last too long, or duplicate discussion in another thread dedicated to that topic. (Said the moderator that caused the tangential discussion. )
  4. I wonder who will become the first #99 CB?
  5. Dear Tom, If there is a big guy about to tackle you, stop looking at their number and throw the ball. Sincerely, The Commish
  6. These uber-short guys are always an injury concern in the NFL (both Moore and the Western MI WR that is getting a lot of buzz). I'd feel more comfortable taking a gadget type player early if our WR room was more solid or if they were a 4th round pick.
  7. If Garcia sucks so bad, why would anyone trade for him? Plus, at 10 million dollars (plus 2 million buyout of club option); the Brewers aren’t going to pay millions of dollars for Garcia to play for somebody else. As someone else said, Cain, JBJ and Garcia aren’t going anywhere. If McKinney continues to impress, his playing time will likely come at the expense of Hiura and Vogelbach rather than the starting OFers Trading him was one option. And obviously he would need to come up to his career norms than what he is doing right now. Second option was a platoon: - Garcia's career splits: 261/310/409/719 vs RHP and 295/358/456/813 vs LHP. - Garcia's 2020 splits: 214/293/270/563 vs RHP and 291/418/455/872 vs LHP. 2021's numbers are similar to 2020, but just a smaller sample size. - McKinney's career splits: 245/306/461/766 vs RHP and 190/229/367/596 vs LHP. He barely had any ABs last year and small sample this year too. I would say the platoon - even a soft platoon with Garcia might be worth it when Yelich returns. Putting him at 1B when we have Vogelbach doesn't make much sense unless we have a interleague game with the DH. Both are similarly bad against lefties.
  8. I wonder if the faster deliver is part of his success or if he'd be even better with the slower delivery and the new slider?
  9. There is a pretty big caveat to that... Defense can be improved, but a person's physical attributes are the main driver to what they can do defensively. Rarely will drafting a bad defensive player in HS/college produce a gold glove player in the MLB. The Brewers draft bat-first (Braun, Weeks, Hiura) was never because they figured they could fix their defense, but because they knew they'd find a spot to play for someone who can hit. Braun was tried at 3B and it didn't work. They moved him to LF and he had a very nice career there. Weeks was adequate at 2B (at least early) and his defense wasn't that big of a hinderance. Hiura was moved to 1B - now hopefully his bat wakes up.
  10. I'd imaging that backup IF is the highest need at this point. Getting nothing from Robertson right now. Shaw has no backup either. Hiura is still a question mark at 1B. SP seems ok for now, but as other's have said, depth would be welcome. You can always use another arm in the BP.
  11. I wasn't expecting a Garcia trade right now, but depending on circumstances perhaps could see it at the deadline. Even if he isn't, he is a FA next year. Right now, Garcia is almost matching his last year output (more SLG, less OBP) and certainly not someone that "must" be in the line-up. A platoon in right wouldn't be out of the question either. Both of their career splits would support that, too.
  12. Damn...you read those comments? Some pretty hateful stuff in there. People seem to be assuming he was SO drunk he couldn't even recognize his vehicle and blaming him for being in now TWO parking lot incidents. Well, he did nothing wrong in the first and I don't know what happened here other than he seemed to violate Covid protocol and got beat up. But pretty easy to see how someone could make the mistake of getting into the wrong van if it's a party van or just not your vehicle. Most people could diffuse that situation by apologizing profusely and moving on, but I’m guessing the strip club after midnight crowd is a little different than say Costco on a Saturday. I came out of Costco one day and went to put the groceries in the back of my red dodge durango. When I opened the back, I was stunned to find a bunch of junk in the back that wasn't mine. My mind raced to try to figure out how it got in there. Then I realized this wasn't my red dodge durango...mine was three parking spots down. Thankfully no one jumped me for doing that. True story.
  13. At the game yesterday, Rock and BA were speculating that they didn't want to activate Wong in the first game after a long flight. Then activate him the second day.
