  1. He's not throwing as hard as he used to, but his slider is way, way better than it was and he is just a better pitcher than he was. He hit 96 several times tonight. I don't think he ever threw faster than that. I remember a 97 here and there maybe last year. I think he was 99/100 when we first traded for him. But his last years of dominance were topped around 97.
  2. Ok-make it look statistically like Sogard is having a good season Sogard leads the league in walk-off homeruns in 2020. FYI, stats don't lie. People are just foolish enough to not understand the context. For example, when stats say that Yellich and Huira are hitting "average", yet barely clearing .200...what do you think that means about the rest of the league? Not average for a normal year, yet average for this year for whatever reason.
  3. Technically he's also only a month and a half into the season. Quit making statistics say whatever you want them to say!
  4. But what do Trump and Biden do to keep their slim figures?
  5. I forget if the WS winner/loser are automatically moved to the last two spots regardless of record in the MLB or not? I know the NFL does that. It would be funny for the Brewers to have a sub-500 record, get hot and win the WS, but still get a top-half draft selection. Hey... a guy can dream...
  6. Thanks for putting it back up GAME05 and I'm glad I didn't mess it up. Seems like you've found the most interesting topic of 2020 that hasn't caused a controversy. That isn't easy to do on the internet!
  7. Hmmm... I don't remember that one. When I split the two threads, I just select which ones to move hit a button... But I'll message GAME05 to see if he can repost the link if I screwed up. Homer did post this one, which was good:
  8. Seems like the Texans forgot he was there too.
  9. NOTE: I moved the fasting/weight loss discussion to its own thread. There was a lot of good discussion so I thought it would be better served with its own topic.
  10. Given this topic seems to have quite a bit of discussion, I thought I'd put it in its own thread. Evidently not such a random thought as originally expected.
  11. Yeah, I try to get out and walk likewise. I just had a 1on1 with one of my team while walking outside. It slowed in the heat of summer, but I'm sure it will pick up now that its cooler, too. I've actually been able to maintain my weight through this WFH mode (even lost 1 pound from last year's checkup). I'm just looking to get rid of 10-15 lbs and mostly belly fat. That is where this interests me.
  12. Ok... I'll back this one up. I started my Intermittent Fasting at the beginning of May. Today, it got to 34 lbs. A long way to go (maybe another 40), but it works. There are a few things for me that helped. First, an app called Fastic. Yes... I could probably "remember," but the app helps. Next, although you can eat anything for the most part during the 8-hour eating phase, try to eat more keto-friendly foods. Finally, drink the water. I am 51 and I have found out that during the fasting time, I require some more water. I don't know how much I drink during the day, but don't go to the bathroom as much as I thought I would. One other thing -- I despise coffee. Instead of diet soda, I drink Spark from Advocare. Much healthier... I might have to take a deeper look at this. I've been looking for something while stuck working from home and lacking my normal once-per-week sports activities (volleyball, basketball, softball).
  13. Ok, this made me laugh - not at you, just the way to admitted it. I can't say I "like" ballet, but the skill, strength, and stamina required for it is impressive. Actually, a similar admiration for opera. Not that I'm going to sit through a ton of either performances, but I can appreciate the skill required.
  14. Worst results... He got a LOT of offseason press (not just local either) about his skill set. Dude has made quite a turnaround.
  15. I guess I didn't expect every step to be identical to say they were comparable... Both were high draft picks that had strong initial years followed by disappointing numbers at lower levels of the minors. Both came on later at higher levels and revived their status somewhat. Taylor didn't have quite the year Grisham did at AAA last year and struggled longer in the middle, but otherwise they are pretty close to the same story. I think he could easily be a Gamel/Broxton type player for the Brewers. And as of last year, we were profiling Grisham for a Gamel like player that was limited to LF. If he sticks in CF, he certainly is more valuable.
  16. L&L both had poor years last year, no doubt. But I wouldn't rule out a bounce-back year from both. I think Lancaster will benefit from reduced snaps with Keke taking more. A 50/50 split of what Lancaster did last year would help. Lowry just needs to get back to what he was doing the year before. He doesn't need to be a pro-bowler, just back to his solid play and not falling over backwards on running plays.
  17. Honestly, last year, I wondered who would make the better MLB player: Taylor or Grisham. Both were high picks that struggled early in their MiLB careers but revived later. Taylor seems to be more natural in center and a better arm. Otherwise, they seemed pretty similar offensively. I suspected Taylor was one reason we felt comfortable trading away Grisham. But I was surprised it took Taylor to be called up, especially after Cain opted out. I second the hope in seeing Taylor out there more often than not. Gamel/Braun-Taylor-Garcia in the OF would be great.
  18. If the Bucks leave, that's a lot of tax revenue and that would have been felt in a place like Milwaukee with limited entertainment options. I graduated from MSOE back in the mid-90s during the dark (pun intended) days of the Bradley Center. The whole area around there was very industrial (i.e. warehouses, seedy bars, etc..). Water street was where more of the night life was. You generally went to a game and then left the area immediately after. I was just back there a week and a half ago to visit the old campus and I was surprised by the changes. The area around the Fizer Forum is much improved. Even without the Bucks playing there and still in COVID impacts, there were still quite a bit of "life" around the area. The renovations also pair well with the improvements to the river walk (though still not approaching San Antonio's river walk, which is incredible). There were a lot more people on the river too (maybe a better COVID social distancing option?) than I remember. Ironically, Water street looked pretty dead in comparison. Not sure if that was due to the improvements around FF, COVID impacts, or because we were there pre-college startup. On the side, I was also impressed by the huge improvements to the MSOE campus. There were a lot of new buildings and improvements made. I'm jealous that we didn't have them back in the 90s. So in general, the entire downtown area has made big improvements. Except Mader's remains unchanged.
  19. Too soon Sorry. I mourn through sarcasm...
