  1. Minors numbers: Delino DeShields (Jr): .266 .358 .391 .749 Maverick Phillips: .296 .372 .488 .859 - And Maverick is left handed. Add in Trent Clark, Tyrone Taylor, Michael Reed, Monte Harrison, and Brandon Diaz. I'm not sure we need anymore CF types. Might be a good guy to add, but given our depth there, I'm not moved to send a SP (even a #3 or #4) for him. How about Brent Suter?
  2. Are you suggesting $24M for Moustakes or just as part of your argument of affording someone? Assuming Moustakes can repeat his 817 OPS, he might be pricy, but I'd be shocked at a $24M pricetag.
  3. [sarcasm]Yes, we need LH balance, so lets get Branyon back. I'm sure he is available![/sarcasm] LH/RH balance is great for the offense and pitching if all things are equal. However, finding that "equal" version of a LH batter or pitcher isn't always that easy. Yes, we had Lind, but he wasn't a long term option. I'm sure that Stearn's Harvard education taught him how to prioritize items of importance. And despite what JB wants, winning this year isn't a priority. Getting that balance becomes more important when you have your actual long term talent being put in place.
  4. My first baseball game, I got Braggs to sign a rookie card. I remember thinking, holy crap his arms are big. He is going to hit a lot of homers. Then I learned the difference between bulk strength and flexible strength. I do remember when I asked, he mentioned that he had to warm up first. Then when he came back to sign, a swarm of kids rushed the fence and pushed me back. He made it a point to reach over the other kids and got mine to sign it (remembering that I asked him).
  5. Gloom, despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression excessive misery. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Gloom, despair, and agony on me. Packers:as others said, have been constant playoff competitors and normally legit Super Bowl contenders. Listen to the Viking fans crow about winning the North and you realize what its like to not win very often. They have a very outside chance this year, but will be legit contenders next year with the offensive players back healthy. Bucks:The surprise defense fueled last season, but fell back to earth this season. Their players are young and its going to take a couple years before they are legit playoff contenders. Expect the Brewers to look like this in 2017 (when the young guys start coming up). Badgers Football: Gary Anderson was an unfortunate choice of coaches a couple years back. This year suffered from a poor selection of players (going to spread offense instead of a pro style) and losing Aranda this year will hurt. But Chryst sounds like its back on track. I'm also interested in seeing what Houstan can do next year at QB. Biegel is going to be playing mad too. Badger Basketball: Big dropoff from last year and losing Bo Ryan really stinks. But I'm interested in seeing what Vliet will bring next year. Certainly a rebuild. Honestly, I think the Brewers are the farthest away from being interesting. But stil plenty to watch and follow.
  6. First game after the report, they did talk about it during the game. But only the first game.
  7. Exactly. Poor George Lucas has endless Star Wars nerd picking apart his lines.
  8. [sarcasm]So... you are a Sith?[/sarcasm]
  9. Cursed google search... My brain put a "T" in so I googled it to double check. When it came up that way, I didn't follow the link... My bad.
  10. I think they just hired him to analyze Johnny football's Las Vegas gambling tendencies.
  11. Sexon hit the flagpole. Richie Sexton says thanks, but there is a "T" in his name. I actually was going to post this one seriously. I watched it live (on TV) and was stunned to see that it wasn't a HR. The ball was 75'(?) up the pole. Longest non-HR hit in baseball history (well the projected travel anyway).
  12. This year could be really big in determining what kind of contract he gets. He broke out last year (3.5 years of sub 700 OPS, then 284/348/470/817 last year). Seems to be an above average defense. Last year might be legit, as it aligns pretty closely with his MiLB numbers: .284 .338 .504 .842
  13. I wouldn't be trading away much of anything prospect wise next year no matter what. At best, I'd pull in Arcia/Maverick earlier than planned. No way I "try to win the WS" next year.
  14. It took him a LONG time to do anything at A-ball. A+ didn't destroy his confidence. The real hitters are showing they can OPS over 800 in Brevard. Power is down, but it should make you a better hitter. Better in Brevard than Colorado Springs.
  15. Arroyo can pay 1b?
  16. Curry is averaging 31.8 pts, 45.3% on 3ptrs, and 52.0% shooting overall. Against the Bucks, he is 27.0pts, 26.7% on 3ptrs, and 47.2% shooting overall. Yes, he is getting his points, but he is working harder for them also. From watching the games, he is getting some "easy" rebound/put-back bunnies off other people's misses. But that also means the offense is being instigated by someone else and not Curry. He isn't getting his easy 3ptrs. I'm not sure how to find any stats that show Curry vs. MCW directly, but from watching the game, MCW's length disrupts Curry's deep shooting greatly.
  17. I can't be the only person on this board who would hate seeing ex Brewer prospects play for the Cardinals... I hate the Cardinals getting any positive value player. They should only be allowed to sign YuniB.
  18. Imagine Peralta as a closer coming in throwing 98 with heavy sink? Or Jungmann throwing 96 with his cross body delivery for an inning? Just leave Blazek where he is. As others said, he would be mixed in a muddle of other back-end rotation types. Smith could be a possibility, but still not sure its a great idea. Peralta to the pen could be interesting, but not until he had another shot at starting. He deserves another 1/2 season at least. He had an "OK" rookie start. A nice second year. And an injury filled on last year. Is he a #3 or #5 SP? I don't think we know that yet. Jungmann, no. Far too many possibilities on him starting yet. The idea is to maximize these guys. I don't think Jungmann will be a 2.50 ERA pitcher as he was the first couple months. But his has a good chance to be in the 3-3.50 range. Which is far more valuable than he would be in the pen.
  19. Not sure he is going to be much more productive than this going forward. Probably not more productive, but I'm sure some GMs are leery about the back surgery he just had. I'd bet they will want to see that he is healthy again before trading anything significant.
  20. Actually, I came here thinking the same thing... LL.net had a decent following, but I think I have 90% of the posts now. Perhaps we could make a "new wing" of BF.net for other Wisconsin sports? So Bucks, Badgers, Packers, Admirals, Panthers, Phoenix, etc.. could be discussed there? Fan Forum >> Other Wisconsin Sports
  21. For Will Smith, I'm concerned about his ability to pitch that many innings. The last two years he has worn down and been far less effective in the second half. Maybe the regularity of pitching every 5 days would help that, but its at least a red flag to increase him up to 150-180 innings when he starts wearing down at 50 or 60 innings.
  22. There always seem to be certain teams that match-up well or present matchup problems for certain teams. I think our defensive matchups for Cleveland (Giannis on LeBron) and GS (MCW on Curry) are reasons why we tend to play well with those teams. Defensive speed and length matchup well on those two.
  23. Anyone know what teams to which Braun can veto a trade? Edit: Found it. can block trades to all teams except the Angels, Dodgers, Marlins, Rays, and Nationals.
  24. There are some expectations on new comers (board rules and regulations) that help avoid trolls and keep things amicable. That keeps this board from breaking down into the ugliness of other forums. For that I'm grateful to our moderators. If you remember that opinions are like butts (everyone has one and sometimes they stink), you will do well here. One comments on trades in general, I thinks this offseason has made it pretty obvious that the value we place on people is not the value the GMs place on them. Or sometimes other circumstances push to get more/less then expected. Who knows... the trade of Lucroy might be similar to this. We might want more, but we might not get more.
