  1. I like the black, but good grief on the name calling. Everyone has a right to their opinion
  2. You must have a smart phone! I wonder why they had Barrios at AAA this year? Looks like he barely touched AA (24IP) before jumping to AAA. With that little experience, its surprising. And K/9 are low and BB/9 are pretty high for a relief pitcher. But potential is OK. I still would have preferred the competitive balance pick.
  3. I'll take their competitive balance draft pick!
  4. Except you can't offer a player you receive in a trade that year a QO. He has to be with one club for the entire season to receive a QO. No a team can give a player a QO but there will be no compensation attached to that player if the player signs with another team. I should've just put it in blue... It was more a poke at JB. But I did forget that there was no QO compensation for a mid-year trade.
  5. Maybe inning limiting? Was at 26 IP and 55IP the last two years. He is at 89 this year. Maybe they are targeting 120 and trying to stretch his next 31 IP.
  6. Just put all the teams in a one-and-done "October Madness" bracket and let them go at it! I'm not sure if that should be "blue" or not. No system is going to be perfect. But it does need to be interesting to the fans!
  7. I remember reading and thinking the same. But it also seems that ~200 players have that same 1st/2nd round pre-draft ranking. Hopefully, he keep this up to make him a real draft steal!
  8. Not really, I think you missed the meaning there. I read it as he believes Kodi is still a project and Kirby will likely jump past him. This is what I meant, but it didn't come across. I tweaked the copy - just made him (along with Kodi) one of the top two lefties in the system. How's that for a quick save. Yes, I did read it as current status rather than future. But that was aided by listing Medeiros as an "RP": #3 - Kodi Medeiros, RP, Wisconsin (A-), age 19.
  9. I still think MLB should look at the NFL for FA compensation. You compensate a team's net changes instead of each individual change. Thus, a team that loses big and signs big gains nothing. But the competitive balance is a nice way to help out the small market teams. It will be interesting in 3-4 years to see the impact of these players.
  10. Unless the Orioles offered him a QO...
  11. The difference between Price/Cuddyer and Lohse is pretty significant. No one is going to look at what he did in the last few years because of his age. If he was 30, you might expect a bounce-back. Now is when people expect he will drop off. In order to get a compensation pick, you need to offer a QO. Plenty of disagreements about Parra getting a QO (~$16M). I can't imagine anyone advocating that for Lohse. Lohse might get a MiLB contract with a ST invite from someone next year. I can't imagine anything more.
  12. He is trying for a job at ESPN...
  13. Thanks for all the work! Kodi Medeiros is LHP, thus nullifying the Kirby comment. Also, who got the 1 first place vote that Arcia didn't?
  14. My guess is that his ceiling is sheetrock. But its only a guess. I've never been to his house.
  15. Well, it took until July 22nd, but I finally made that mistake, although technically it doesn't count since Colorado Springs is playing Nashville. *** VIDEO via WLOX: Here's more highlights from the Biloxi win to cap things off this AM.... I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong.
  16. Most reports on Reed's defense in CF have him in the Parra/Clark range. Ok for a backup/short stints, but not a defensive quality player at CF.
  17. I would guess that Brady Clark is his floor at this point. On the high end, Brantley or Aoki. Parra is probably a good middle-ground comparison.
  18. I know that I've not voted for the last year or two because the last 15 spots in the 25 felt like you were sifting through the chaff. Its nice to have some legitimate prospects still in the 20 range again.
  19. Vargas, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound powerhouse switch hitter, went 2-for-4 at the plate, with both hits leaving the park as solo home runs. Is he listed as a DE?
  20. This is the best use of ARam by far. He should net a nice return. Boomerang player! End his career where it started.
  21. If you meant an inning eating #5 for his initial call-up, I could agree with that. If you thought he would max at that, I think you are underselling him greatly. Honestly, I don't care if he maxes as a #1 or #4. He is doing well right now. Many people mention "the second time around" for teams to see him. That might have some effect, but I tend to think its far more related to his control (on whether he is a #1 or #4). And the "second time around" started yesterday with the Pirates. TheCrew07, any comments on Jungmann's curveball now vs when drafted? I'm curious if you think that pitch has developed into a plus or average MLB pitch from the below-average ranking you gave him when he was drafted.
  22. Not much info on Peterson. Tall, skinny RHP that doesn't seem to have much control.
  23. Ugh. I speculated that somewhere else... hopefully nothing too serious.
  24. Too bad neither one is hitting worth anything.
