  1. The Brewers have RHP Miguel Diaz, OF Monte Harrison, CF Michael Reed, and C. Clint Coulter as prospects swap for Papy and Brown. These prospects would add more credibility to the Phils’ farm system. Phils ought to offer to pay only half of the vesting option to either team. Fixed.
  2. $200 Million is a hell of a lot of money. If that means the state has to bond less for the construction that does have to offset some of the risk associated with the Kenosha casino. The $200 Million is basically a bribe to the state to approve that casino. Its amazing that tribes have that much money sitting around to basically just throw away. HAHAHAHA. Just throw away. HAHAHAHAHA Its called investment. I've never seen the casinos hesitate to build more and bigger casinos as soon as legislation lets them. Doyle passed a law back a few years ago and Potawatomi broke ground on expansion *the very next day*. Casinos are a voluntary tax on people; most of whom shouldn't be doing it. Maybe we should just raise taxes and give people free scratch tickets. I certainly hope this is a no deal. edit: Sorry, I realize this isn't the political forum. And I probably "over did it". Back to the Bucks: Does anyone think that Kidd's turnaround in Milwaukee will result in him jumping to a bigger market eventually? or will they invest in Kidd to stay (partial GM, ownership piece, whatever)?
  3. Also, I'm glad to not have Shields on a 4 year deal like this when he's turning 34. I really doubt the Brewers were all that involved, could've just kept a 45 year younger Gallardo for half the price and gotten close to the same production. [sarcasm]Does Yovani know that he is having a kid in 11 years? [/sarcasm]
  4. they once found a guy name Turnbow that ended up as our closer Who quickly flamed out as quickly as he "flame-on"ed. Granted, he worked for 1 year.
  5. So you're saying there is a chance....? (Cue the Dumb and Dumber picture)
  6. My guess is that they are doing early promotion to introduce the team to potential season ticket holders. Especially when you start off with Dontrell Willis...
  7. My gut feeling is the talent evaluators look at the guys early on and if they don't jump out at you right away, they lose track of them. Especially if they are in one of the small market teams roster. So, Arcia really came out slow and has started to blossom late. I was happily surprised at how he ended last season (I lost track somewhere mid-year with work in the way of my fun). I think many have "given up on him" and are now seeing him as a "sleeper". When in reality, he was simply young for his leagues.
  8. I thought Peralta's change-up made a big difference for him last year?
  9. Great to hear that Hellweg got a fourth option. But he is still probably destined for the BP. I think he only has two pitches? And to be clear, I was talking about Henderson closing, not Hellweg
  10. Hellweg in the pen would be a great idea. Dominant in AAA, torched in MLB; and out of options if I remember. I wonder what Henderson will bring this year. Seemed to do better as a setup man rather than the closer. I wonder if it was injury or pressure related
  11. So, we need to draft a center again?
  12. Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite cartoon. And it fits my handle. My brain is CheeseWiz
  13. I actually felt the article was a little biased in favor of Taylor. Maybe I was reading too much into it... Currently playing center field at the age of 20, he may grow beyond his current frame and actually fit just as well as a game-changing corner outfielder. So I read two things: - Doesn't have the ability to remain at CF - Doesn't currently have the power to play at RF/LF, but we hope... Guys that can play CF well don't ever have anyone insinuate they would play corner OF...ever. It would not be surprising if Taylor ultimately becomes a player that hits 17- 20 home runs per season. That isn't a game changing corner OFer. A nice CFer, yes. I still have hope that he will be a great CF and take over for Gogo when the time comes, but this article made question whether he can stay at CF. If not, he becomes our next Caleb Gindl or maybe Brady Clark.
  14. Why are we talking about getting rid of MA? Someone REALLY doesn't remember the Selig era(s)...
  15. Thanks MH. According to that article, PR was low-mid AAA level talent: Japan (NPB) Mid AAA Dominican Winter League Mid AAA Puerto Rican Winter League Mid-Low AAA Venezuelan Winter League Low AAA/High AA Mexican Pacific (Winter) Low AAA/High AA Mexican Summer Low AAA/High AA Arizona Fall League Low AAA/High AA Atlantic League (Ind) High AA Cuba High-A Taiwan/China High-A Korea High-A American Association (Ind) High-A Can-Am League (Ind) High-A Frontier League (Ind) Low-A Other Independents Rookie Ball European (Dutch, Italian) Low Division 1 Other Foreign (Australia) Div II/Div III That helps frame Jorge Lopez's success!
  16. So coaches that are merely 2x the players age instead of 2.5x?
  17. Anyone have an opinion on how the PR, DR, Mexican, and Venezuelan leagues compare to MiLB ball?
  18. My parents are just north of Solon Springs and get the Brewers on Direct TV. I think you just need to make sure you will have FSN-WI in the package.
  19. Molina's cockiness and Cardinal-ness don't help his fanbase here, that is for sure. But no one discounts how good a catcher he is. Nor was that even the discussion. Was Lucroy even worth consideration for GG? Molina was down last year by all measures. Lucroy was up from previous years. That might be the only year that ever happens, but its not the Brewer goggles that are driving the discussion.
  20. It could mean he meant more to his team defensively. Honestly, I thought it was more games than that. Molina missed two months didn't he? Anyway, my point overall is that with all the discussion of Luc's improved defense, Molina missing some time, (and Posey too), that Luc should be in the discussion for GG. And I half joke about Luc's offensive year, but that certainly put him on people's radar a lot more. If Molina's injury happened at the end of the year, I wouldn't have been surprised if Luc won it (deserving or not).
  21. JB, I wasn't meaning he did or didn't qualify. More along the lines of which is better: - 100% of very good or - 75% of excellent
  22. Plus, don't forget that last year, Lucroy bested Molina in the most important defensive stats of all: BA, OBP, and SLG
  23. Let restate my point: How many games would Molina need to miss before Luc wins the GG over him? If Molina plays one game, does he automatically win? (By the way, that last question can also serve as a Cardinal troll test) I'm not debating who is better overall. But who deserves the GG this year is a different question. Playing time narrows the gap.
  24. So, does anyone know his "drafting profile"? Has he had any trends one strengths and weaknesses (i.e. lots of misses on pitchers but finds steals at OF positions) Do you expect to see a different drafting approach by the Brewers in the future? Jack Z seemed to aim for the person with the highest ranked tool (power) on the board. Seid seemed to draft college pitchers and HS bats.
