  1. Manny seems to have little ability to repeat what he's doing well while forgetting about what he's done wrong. This consistently occurs from inning to inning and even batter to batter. He looked great in the first inning and then he gives up the dinger to Uggla and his entire demeanor changed. You could almost see the confidence leave him on the mound, and his body language and facial expression said it all as he walked back to the dugout that inning. I mentioned a lack of maturity in the in-game thread and maybe that was not the right word. Emotions, concentration, stubbornness, baseball intelligence? Any and all of these may apply, but I feel most of his issues are in the old skull cap. I'm sure mechanics have something to do with it as well, but the black and white inconsistency indicates something more than that to me. I hope he can figure it out, and I'm sure this is the low point for him. I'm just not sure the Brewers should be patient anymore. If he brings us Peavy in a trade, it's worth giving up potential for consistency in my opinion.
  2. I don't think they should pull the plug on Parra and take him out of the rotation either. He will have his stretch of good games and there simply is no better options as a 5th starter. I do think he should be the main piece that gets us Peavy, though. I don't think his value will get any higher and his lack of maturity, I fear, will keep him from ever being the pitcher we hoped he could be.
  3. It's rare when you can point to one player single handedly loosing a game. This game was a rarity.
  4. I can't believe the Brewers are still in a position to win this one. That was by far the worst inning since Easter.
  5. Julio better be cursing at himself. He deserves a nice kick to the groin if he's upset at his defense.
  6. 80's Schmidt 70's Bench 50's Campanella 40's Musial 30's Foxx
  7. I was really hoping Gamel would be able to work on his defense some more in the minors this year, but unfortunately Hall has left he team no choice. I am willing to put up with the errors because at least Gamel will get some important hits. As good as Hall is defensively and against lefties, he is downright miserable against righties and actually getting worse. I think his struggles against righties are now affecting the rest of his game. It's time we all realize Hall will never be close to the same player he was in '06 (or even '07 for that matter). Despite his bloated contract, he can be a solid platoon option at 3rd with Gamel, and be counted on to provide quality defense during his starts and late in close games.
  8. "I don't know what we're yelling about!"
  9. Cap Anson. The Baseball Almanac only listed Aaron and Ruth.
  10. 5) There are only 2. Aaron and Ruth.
  11. Weeks is jinxed. His injuries only seem to pop up when he's raking and looking like he's finally putting it all together. Then when he gets stuck in a horrible slump and could use some recovery time in AAA, he's perfectly healthy. I hope this does not affect his mental approach to the game as he really seemed to turn a corner this year. On the bright side it does mean that Gamel is likely up for good, and this injury should be easier to overcome than Yo's injury last year.
  12. If this jackal was such a die hard Brewer fan, he would have thrown the ball back on the field. Edit: Member or not, if he's got the nerve to act like that, we've got the right to call him out.
  13. I must say the outro was much more enjoyable than the intro to tonight's game. Nice job Crew!
  14. Looper is looking like Suppan so far. This game is not fun so far.
  15. My guess is McGehee goes down when Gamel arrives, and Nelson is traded or released when Catalanotto is ready. I'm not sure if this is the right move or not, but it sure is exciting given the potential benefits that both these players may add to the team.
  16. Thank you. I am now dumber for reading that forum.
  17. Blasphemy 2 years ago, but the absolute truth today.
  18. I don't get it. They're upset about a gesture that pays homage to Cameron's father, yet they aren't mad about the home run struts that Bill Hall and Ryan Braun put on last year in St. Louis? Get a grip.
  19. I was just saying to my wife that against any other team, that strut might bother me. Against the Cubs, though, he can strip naked and jog backwards and it's all good.
  20. Attaboy Mitch! I feel much more comfortable with him facing righties so far this year. I'm sure it will change as the year goes on, but he just looks better against righties early on.
  21. Cardinals Nation needs to get off its collective high horse. Until they start criticizing Pujols' admiration of nearly every home run he hits, they can shut the heck up.
  22. No kidding. Before I opened this thread I had a terrible vision of Freel with a lead off triple that leads to him scoring the winning run against The Crew. I guarantee he'll do very little against the rest of the League. Do the Cubs make these moves strictly to annoy us? I hate them so bad.
