  1. The Kings of Leon just changed the name of their song to "Ed's-Pants-Are-On-Fire!"
  2. Yo is a one man wrecking crew! edit: and Macha is a genius!
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4095214 This just warms my heart to read.
  4. Hands down it's Nite Owl off Layton Ave. I have yet to find a burger that comes close. Meet the challenge of a double cheeseburger, fries and a shake and you've become a man. Solidly in second place is a Kopp's burger. I live in Madison and there is no place here that can hold a candle to Nite Owl or Kopp's. Not even Dotty's, which is probably Madison's best burger joint.
  5. Given the team's recent history with the bases loaded, I don't think you can fault Macha for having a quick hook with DiFelice. Plus, DiFelice is know for throwing strikes, so coming in and walking someone on four straight balls would indicate he may not have his best stuff. If the bases were empty, I would say leave him in. In today's game, I think Macha made the right move.
  6. Oh well. At least the women and children are safe.
  7. Can we abort the pitching staff and the start of this season? We should get one mulligan per year -- right?
  8. Lance Nix, hurting the Brewers on and off the team.
  9. I would like to know if there is a strong correlation between walk rates and IQ. These pitchers know what happens when you walk guys and some continue to do it.
  10. Never mind. Let's save that hit for another time. Go Rickie!
  11. Now would be an excellent time for Nelson's first hit of the year.
  12. I am eligible for a FHA loan which requires no money down so luckily I do not have to pay PMI. That helps. I would still try and put something down, though. The more you put down, the less interest you pay over the course of the loan. Have your bank do the numbers for you to compare how much interest you'll pay if you put no money down versus whatever amount you're thinking of paying up front. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes over 30 years. It only helps if you can afford to do it, though. There's no point in extending yourself when you don't have to put anything down. I guess I do not understand why I would pay off those other loans first. I know this is for Robin19, but I'll put in my two cents worth. The reason why you pay everything else off first, before worrying about extra principal payments on your mortgage, is interest. It's tax deductible on your mortgage and not on your other loans. Also, your house is considered an investment and should go up in value (except lately), while a car and most anything you buy on a credit card tends to depreciate. So you have loans on depreciating items that offer no tax breaks. Get those out of the way and then focus on paying down your mortgage.
  13. As far as indie films go, Pulp Fiction would deserve a nod. Before it came out, there were indie films that did well and had success on video, but none were as big of a box office success as Pulp Fiction was. After it's release, it spawned a bunch of larger budget indie films with big stars trying to duplicate the success of John Trevolta. I think it helped to officially put indie films on the map in this country.
  14. If you don't put 20% down you will need to pay mortgage insurance. If you can put 20% or more down, do it, because paying mortgage insurance is like throwing money away. If you can't put 20% down, do the largest amount you are able to afford. The quicker you pay off 20% of the loan, the quicker you can start putting the money spent on mortgage insurance towards principal or other investments. If you're able to pay a little extra towards the principal each month, that's great. Just make sure it's not at the expense of other bills like Robin19 said. Also don't forget about your 401k. You probably want to be at 10% of your salary or more (your contribution + your company's match). If your not there yet, hold off on paying extra towards your mortgage and apply that money towards your 401k contributions.
  15. Would it be too much to ask the Brewers for a comfortable win against the Cubs today? I would just like to have them jump out early and hold a nice lead with good pitching for once at Miller Park against the Cubs. I know they've done it against them in the past, but I just can't remember that far back. It seems like they are either getting blown out at home against the Cubs, or they are involved in nail biters. C'mon Crew, how about one for the Easter Bunny!
  16. I've been watching Gameday with no radio or tv. Did Coffey just throw 14 straight fastballs?
  17. I am actually relieved to be reading this thread. As bad as the injury is, I was dreading waking up this morning and reading that he had either died, or was in critical condition. I really thought he sustained a life threatening injury last night. At this point, his baseball career is a minor concern compared to his overall health. Hopefully he can recover in the hospital and then worry about rehabbing after his release. We all hope you have a speedy recovery, Joe!
  18. What an awesome game! I would agree with Outlander that it was about a 90/10 split in favor of Brewers fans. If you were not looking closely, it was hard to tell there were any Cubs fans at all. They made a little noise during the 2 home runs, but were really quite otherwise. Every time I went to the restroom, there were 1-2 Cubs fans catching hell from Brewers fans, and it was great. After the victory it was nothing but smiles and high fives all the way the parking lot. It was the first Brewers/Cubs game at Miller Park that I truly enjoyed the whole way through. I even said to myself in the 9th that I would be ok if they lost since they pitched well. What a difference a lack of Cubs fans makes!
  19. If it's an Old Style truck I'll feel better.
  20. If they are still struggling in a couple of weeks, then Macha should consider switching them back. He needs to give it enough time to actually succeed or fail. I don't think their struggles have anything to do with being switched in the batting order, though. It's probably just a coincidence.
  21. I agree with your sentiments about Macha. Unlike Yost, he seems to have a strategy for every game. With Lincicum, they wanted to work the count and try to get him taken out early, which happened. They also knew they could run on him due to his slow delivery, and it worked. The second game they tried to run on Johnson and Braun got thrown out. No more attempts and no harm done on the base paths. He didn't mess around with pulling Yo last night, and when Stetter walked his hitter, Macha did the right thing and pulled him too. His decisions seem to be based on sound logic and statistics instead of just gut instincts. I do feel a manager can go on his gut every once and a while, but not rely on it like Yost seemed to do.
  22. http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/42737492.html I saw this on the front page of JSOnline and could not stop laughing. If you go to the main page there is a picture. For some reason I thought of Homer Simpson.
  23. Does anyone have any idea how Johnson's looked this Spring? I'm curious if he's regressing due to age and back problems.
  24. That's right, he had about 180 total in '07. I just had the numbers for the Brewers. Is it still a good idea to jump him to 200 IP a year after he did not reach 50? I'm confident that Yo could pitch 200 innings this year and be great. I'm just worried about future seasons.
