  1. As horrible as Torres was today, I have to put this loss squarely on the offense for it's horrendous showing with the bases loaded (3 TIMES!!), and the unforgivable base running blunders. Like I said earlier, they tried hard today to find a way to lose. It actually took some effort to do it and we've been watching it all season long. This will be the last night ruined for me this year by this team. There are too many other things I can focus my attention on versus this crap.
  2. It took a max effort for the Crew to pull out a loss today, but they managed to do it. Nice job.
  3. That pitch was a strike to Edmunds and everyone but the umpire knew it. This game makes me want to put my head in a vice and take some of the pain away.
  4. Someone please explain to me why batting average with risp is not an important statistic?
  5. Please, please, please be productive with risp..........PLEASE!
  6. Not according to Gameday. In fact, according to Gameday, they were clearly balls. They caught the black both times. He's also been calling pitches like these further off the outside edge of the plate for right handed hitters.
  7. Edmunds gone! Nice job Jimmy, they were both clearly strikes.
  8. McClung just strayed from the script -- nice! I think someone wants to be a closer.
  9. This is pathetic. Weeks plays his part perfectly, now let's see if McClung can walk a few before giving up the winning run. I hate myself for being such a smart ass about this, but they are just so predictable!
  10. 3 of those 4 balls were strikes. At least they were earlier this game.
  11. Cubs fans are such idiots. They give a mock cheer as DeRosa fielded that last out. After the season he's had for them?
  12. Coffey's making his bid to be added to the playoff roster if they make it. Nice job.
  13. Thank you JJ. Darn it Hart! He just walked in a run!
  14. It should be a good thing when your team has the bases loaded. So why does it feel so bad?
  15. There are those on this forum that will argue about how there is no such thing as being "clutch." But I will tell you this, if "clutch" does exist, this team is the exact opposite. That inning sums up our entire season.
  16. Hart's speed would be wasted at first base. I know he's not the best right fielder, but he is still learning the position and, in my opinion, getting gradually better at it. His speed allows him to get to balls that players like Gross would not even come close to. His arm strength isn't all that great, but if he works on his accuracy, he could be an above average defender. I know this last month has been miserable for Hart, but given the team's situation, I feel it's been an anomaly. I think Hart's value is in the outfield. Maybe they move him to left or center, but first would be a waste of his talent.
  17. Unless he needs surgery and the recovery time cuts into the start of next season, someone will give Sheets 4-5 years without batting an eye. There's always a couple GM's out there that refuse to look at the history of long term pitching deals that have backfired over the years. As long as his arm isn't falling off, Sheets will be a very rich man this off season. I hope this isn't anything serious for the Brewer's sake, though. What happens if he has to have surgery and miss part of next season. Does his free agency class A status become affected and the Brewers miss out on draft picks? If his value were to go down significantly, what kind of arbitration do they have to offer in order to get those picks? If no one beats their offer, they could be stuck with damaged goods at a high price. Forget the Cubs curse. Someone definitely does not want the Crew in the playoffs. Up until the Sheets injury, it was the teams fault for blowing the wild card lead. Now it appears plain old bad luck may keep them out.
  18. I have to agree that if Svuem gets this team to the playoffs, it would be hard to not give him the job (unless they fall apart in the post season). If the job goes to someone else, I think they need to look outside the organization, and Decker sounds interesting. Despite his lack of managerial experience, he's done nothing but win since he's been a manager, and he would offer a fresh approach and style to the team. The players may also relate better to him as he is not far removed from his playing days. I'm also intrigued by Mattingly for no other reason than he was a serious candidate for the Yankee job. They must have seen something in him that projected well as a manager. I would be interested in anyones comments about why Mattingly would be a good or bad manager without just citing his lack of experience.
  19. If Yo comes out of the bullpen for the Crew in the last week and a half, my entire outlook for this team's playoff chances will have done a complete 180. He will be no worse than Riske, and a very nice 8th inning option. With the Yost firing, these are two potential sparks that may just get this team back on track.
  20. Wow, my outlook on the rest of the season is suddenly not as dire. Too bad they couldn't get rid of the entire staff. I am shocked that they did this with 12 games left in the season.

  22. There is no such thing as clutchiness and statistics show they are just in a bad spot right now. Yost is only a manager and he has little, if any, bearing on the outcome of the game. You are just overreacting because you're emotional. There is no emotion in this game.
  23. I used to be a Yost supporter, but as his team flipped the switch on September 1st, so did I. I now cannot wait for his tenure to end. Good riddance!
  24. I would like to thank the Crew for blowing their playoff chances before it's time for people with a 9-pack to pay for playoff games. They've saved me shipping and handling charges. Maybe this should be in the silver lining thread, but at least Yost and Company will be fired after this debacle, allowing us a legitimate shot at the playoffs should the Brewers contend in August. Not that the players should not share the blame, but 3 years with a gut wrenching second half collapse is not a coincidence. I include this year as the third because I see no way the Brewers will be able to win 90 and take the wild card. This is not a funk, it's a disease.
