  1. I love how people keep leaving Clark off their rosters without involving him in a trade and conveniently leave his 4M off the books. I wish it were that easy.
  2. Total: $52.9M...Am I missing anything? Missing... Clark 3.8M Anderson 380K Balfour 380K Gwynn 380K Hendrickson 380K Jackson 380K Nix 398K Rivera 380K Rottino 380K That's 6.858 you left out, bringing your total to 59.758M
  3. Does this guy have any range whatsoever in the OF? It's not all just about the bat. Didn't the Brewers have the worst if not among the worst range factors in the OF last year? Now, if my impression is false and Wilson is in fact a plus defender who excels at tracking down fly bals and cutting off the gap, then by all means consider him. We may not be able to acquire a true #4 hiitting OF but if we're going to be picking amongst 2nd and 3rd tier guys at least get someone who is a plus defender with some range. It could really help our pitching if our OFs as a whole got to more balls out there. Speed and defense should be near musts in players we target since those aspects are much more affordable than softball slugging power hitters.
  4. who has fizzled in AA? I can't really remember anyone fizzling out before AAA... Maybe Palmisano was occupying too much space in my thoughts. I gues what I'm really saying is that so many players tear up rookie ball and A ball and by the time they get to AAA become non-prospects. And of course that's just a natural progression for all teams. Bottom line, until a player dominates AA at the very least, I'm not going to get too excited.
  5. That's awesome seeing Inman appear on the Hot Sheet but equally frustrating seeing Homer Bailey right below him at 5-0 with a 1.03 ERA in AA. Add Jeremy Sowers, Jarred Weaver and a laundry list of others whom the Crew passed for Rogers and it's downright depressing. (note: dead horse thoroughly beaten) Sorry to rain on the parade. I hope Inman is as strong a prospect when he hits AA. Many of these Brewer prospects seem to fizzle out making that jump. If he can make that leap then I'll share in the excitement.
  6. Hart is not doing much lately to keep Jenkins firmly planted on the bench... Well he's getting on base at a .500 clip today. In all seriousness, let's hope the Brewers let a young player develop for once without constantly looking over his shoulder. Hart has had two starts now since the Jenkins benching and he's hit some balls hard in addition to drawing two walks today. Give the kid some leeway now and reap the rewards later. Fans and management take note.
  7. To put it real simple, Jimbo...you guys should aim for 3 walks or less per game. Walking two to three like I did was too much in my mind because I know I can do even better, but it's not back-breaking. When you get to 4 or more though those walks will kill you. Edit: Also that stat you have for us combined walking 1 every 9 batters is very misleading. Jamie has an inflated number of walks in a short stint and Robin/Razzor will be the first ones to tell you that when they appeared the opposition was swinging away and taking no pitches. Walk 1 out of 9 batters and you'll need to score a minimum of 15 runs to win another game. Just stick to a goal of 3 walks or less a game and you'll be fine. It's not out of anyone's ability, someone just needs to put in the practice time.
  8. Games like tonight are what makes playing softball so great. Everyone contibuted, the other team was gracious in defeat, and we held them off despite playing one inning beyond what I thought we were going to be able to get in. I really enjoyed playing with you guys and wish I could stay for the remaining 5 games. Those two rainouts were a big bummer. I wish you guys nothing but the best and hope you guys win out.
  9. I figure the best thing to do is man up and state my mind about the pitching situation. I don't think if I had pitched yesterday it would have turned a loss into a win. That team was just flat out a far cry better than us. However, I kind of feel it's a waste not to have me pitch for the little time I'm here. Looking back I thought game experience would be important for those who pitch after I'm gone. But then again I had no game experience in two years leading up to game 1 of this year. My prep came by practicing. In the weeks leading up to our season I would go to a nearby softaball diamond and throw pitch after pitch, getting my feel. I had the idea that an inning or two at the end of a game would be a good taste for someone. Either way, I think those who intend to pitch for this team should spend a little time on the side practicing, just as I did. It just seems kind of strange to have me not pitch at all during one of the few games I'm here. I came to the park last night thinking I was pitching and then I don't even pitch one inning. In all honesty I think that's a waste. Yesterday is over with, but I am still here for one more week. And I think it would be foolish not to utilize me at pitcher. After this week I'll be gone and there still will be 5 games left for anyone who wants to replace me to get plenty of action of the mound. A whole half season remains after I'm gone. Meaning that I will play not a second more than one half of a season. I plan on bringing my best effort next week and I vow to come to the game prepared focused and determined. I'm treating this game as the last game I'll be able to play for a while, because that's exactly what it is. I want what's best for the team both on a next game basis and after I'm gone. I just think that whoever pitches after I'm gone, that their success will have much more to do with practicing on their own, than anything they'd get out of an inning or two thrown to the wolves before they've had a chance to prepare. If the team decides not to have me pitch, I will accept that. Remember, if that is the case, it will mean that I pitched only 3 games. What started out as me being here for 7 out of 10 games has turned into me being here for only 5 because of rainouts. To wind up pitching just 3 games seems silly.
  10. Awesome job Jimbo. Oh how narrowly we missed being 2-0.
  11. Food was excellent, Trischa was very complimentary about how good the food was on the ride home from the park. I'm glad I got to get a taste of what I'll unfortunately be missing at FanFest. Those attending have a great feast to look forward to.
  12. My shortened season dwindles some more. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  13. I really hope Miller needs another day off, I love seeing Chad Moeller's name in the lineup.
  14. I have to clarify, it would still be good to get someone some live, in-game, pitching action. There's got to be some point in the next 5 weeks we can get someone some pitching time. Getting an inning in against hitters with an ump calling balls and strikes is huge. It will help whoever takes over for me tremendously to have done it already. My only point in my post above is that we have plenty of time. And it would be great for someone to throw at a practice with balls and strikes called. This team we play this week sounds like it may have some heavy hitters. I may have good control and decent arc but all the arc in the world matters little to some teams. If we find ourselves in a game getting out of hand whether by our lead or theirs, we'd be foolish not to get someone their first taste of the mound. I agree with Jimbo, this week might end up being a good opportunity for someone to do just that. Hopefully we hang right in there though.
  15. I'm good to go at 3rd. I'll be around for another 5 weeks. Bummer with the first rainout, looks like I'll be lucky to get in a half a season. I'd like to get in as much PT as possible while I'm here, if you know what I mean. This very well might be my 1 opportunity to ever play for BFan. But I fully understand the need to get someone some work on the mound. If I have to sit, so be it. I'll be as flexible on the diamond as you guys need. If we work in another pitcher and he struggles it might be good if I'm still on the field, so I could go back to the mound in an emergency. I'm not sure if you can re-enter the positional lineup once you come off the field. I say this not trying to ensure PT but in the interest of the team. Anyway, maybe a practice or get together with a few pitching candidates and one person to catch them is in order. All you need are the prospective pitchers a softball diamond and a catcher. Then we could have the guys throw to guage their control. We never cared about balls and strikes in practice so it's unclear where we're at as to who can avoid issuing a lot of free passes. I also had to raise the arc on my pitches to keep the score in check last week. That's another consideration as well...arc combined with accuracy. There is plenty of time to find out though. I don't doubt that we have at least 2 potential replacements. It's not something that's impossible to do with time and practice. I do wonder if we have anyone ready to jump in and throw high-arching strikes without practice. It all depends on those who volunteer to pitch and where they stand. If they're confident that they can jump right in, than go for it. I'll be there tomorrow ready to do whatever I can to help the team, wherever that may be. I just hope the weather cooperates otherwise my chance to play on this team dwindles some more.
  16. My arm is well rested and I'm ready to go. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Well, that's all for me for tonight. Hopefully in my absence the Brewers play like All-Stars much like they usually do when I'm not listening or watching. Have a good night all.
  18. You know what that Prince Fielder reminds me of....a guy who should be batting third. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Nothing ridiculous...just calling every other play the possible turning point. And when Bush was up..."he hit a double his first AB in spring training, he can handle the bat....there's strike three."
  20. Who the heck are Daron and Bill kidding. That job has got to be tough...sugarcoating everything. It's nauseating. They must cuss up a storm when they get off the air.
  21. Okay, so maybe we're not paying him 8.5 million for his defense. What exactly are we getting for the investment again?
  22. Also, i think the reason Prince bats 5 and Geoff bats 3 is because when geoff is on a bad streak, he still has protection That is, how do I say this, backwards thinking. Btw, Jenkins put up his best numbers the last three years out of the 5 hole with no big time bat behind him.
  23. That must be what we're paying 8.5 million for.
