    I had a 30 minute phone interview today and I feel like I totally blew it. Should I follow up with the HR manager via email and explain why I would be great for the job, or should I just wait and see? I really want this job!

    The show in Madison was excellent. It had a very big sound. I'm normally very critical about music, but I have nothing but good things to say about this performance. The tracks off "For Emma" had a completely different vibe with a 9-10 piece band. They weren't as haunting, but Vernon made them work.

    It looks like Theriot will be non-tendered by the Cards. He could be a serviceable and cheap back up infielder. Thoughts?

    Carlos absolutely mashed against LHP in 2011. Him or Gamel could also be used to PH. He'd be a great addition if: 1: He didn't cost more than a few million. 2: The Brewers didn't have to give up anything of value. 3: He'd be happy in a platoon role.

    I've never been a big fan of CM, but I think he has the potential to have a few more good seasons. Nice move for the Bucs.

    You thought a team that won 96 games last year and lost one key player was no longer a contender? Yeah, you're definitely in the minority on this board. Yes I did. Before Braun's suspension I had them above .500 but missing the playoffs. I don't think much of Mat Gamel or McGehee at 1B. They are obviously not going to be able to replace Prince's production on the field, but his clubhouse leadership might be missed just as much. Yesterday after hearing about Braun's deal, I had them under .500. Today, I think this puts them at .500 + / - 2 games. The Brewers were a 96 win team last season. According to WAR a season of Fielder and 50 games of Braun are worth approximately 8 games; an 88 win team. They also added A-Ram, Gonzo, and will have K-Rod for an entire season.

    I love the signing so long as its for less than $40m. We can look forward to another special season.

    I was pretty bummed out last night after I heard the news, and receiving tons of texts from friends who Cards and Cubs fans did not help (which is hilarious given the players who have been linked with PEDs.) My initial reaction was "Braun needs to be traded!" After sleeping on it I feel much better about the whole situation. TH has done a fantastic job covering this "scandal."

    The Brewers have been linked to him. Check out the Aramis Ramirez thread in the Transactions/Rumors section. Bill James 2012 A-Ram 285/350/500/850 with 26 HRs 2011 MLE Green 254/311/419/730 with 17 Hrs I would be absolutely shocked if Green put up better numbers than A-Ram. The question is whether A-Ram is worth the additional money and that discussion should happen in a different thread.

    Yuni will turn into early 2000's A-Rod if he signs with STL.

    It was not meant to be a dig at MU. His brother plays in the NBA, Todd can obviously play, and MU isn't a powerhouse college program which is why I'm surprised. He seems like the type of player that Kentucky or NC would land.

    I thought about that, too. Trumbo is a great young talent but along with 1B he can play OF and 3B, too, plus the Angels get to have a DH. With Vernon Wells having such a down year last year I think the Angels would be very hesitant to trade Trumbo away. I like Trumbo quite a bit, but would he be a big upgrade over Green and Gamel? What would you Angels want for him? I can't imagine they would want prospects as they are obviously going for it. K-Rod + Gamel + cash for Trumbo?
