  1. Big inning propelling T-Rats. Peña still hitless but a sac fly.
  2. Handelfry. Makes the catch. Makes the throw. And it’s a fly out, throw ‘em out at home double play. 1-1 still
  3. Mudacts give up the lead. 1-1 game. And the most (recent) Mudcats way they have allowed runners in 2nd and 3rd via an Ortuno error. At risk of now losing the lead and possibly the game.
  4. Man the Shuckers are the Suckers tonight. No hit thru 6 😳 Perfect game even. Oh no.
  5. Also what a season of pitching for Melvin Hernandez who as long as he doesn’t have an blow up game on Sunday should win the ERA title for the Carolina League (currently at 2.00)mans he’s like 5th or 6th in Ks. For a kid who just turned 19 about 2 months ago, and still is a big as most high school sophomore/juniors in his overall build. If he adds weight and muscle he could get velo up to low or mid 90s. Going along with Dorchies, Dubanewicz and Meccage as teenage arms for low A or high A next year (assuming they all can stay healthy - please please please)
  6. I’m not sure what is more impressive : Wilken tied for first in HR with Adams tied for 11th, despite both missing half the season; or Spain tied for 3rd? And Pratt and Lara are in that 16-22nd range for OPS on the season with both 20 at the start of the year, and both playing very good defense. Both batting around .250ish and OPS over .700 in this league.
  7. They seem to go WWLL, so i’ll go 12-12 which gets them 97 wins which I think wins the division and gets #1 or #2 seed. Cubs would have had to go 19-6 which is not impossible but very unlikely. Same for Phillies and Dodgers like 20-5 or 21-4 as well
  8. I did not watch any games tonight (Wednesdays = meetings night), but boy this one was not one to miss. Carolina trying the emulate the big club build a lead and falter late, leaving men in scoring position which has been the young (and I mean really young) Mudcats MO the past month. Last night was such a treat to watch. But Biloxi and Nashville both have had good pitching and timely hitting, as the Shuckers close out the win. TRats still in rain delay. But Birchard was pitching well (I mean yes 3 walks in 3 innings sure ok), but only 1 hit. He’s allowed only 1 hit in his last 10 innings (at least). That roster will look good together next year in Appleton or Biloxi - Adams, Peña, Made, Fischer, Adamczewski and Dinges. Which means AAA could feature Wilken, Pratt, Burke, Lara and Wood. Those are solid cores to build some clubs around. Alright the Sunday into Monday doldrums are fading. Hopeful for a big Mudcat turn around the next few starts.
  9. Just a random observation - I am really starting to like Biloxi Matt Wood. Offensively better than what he did in Wisconsin, and when I watch him he is solid behind the dish. After Quero and Dinges he is most definitely the next catching prospect, and then there are the young ‘uns Corobo and K. Garcia. Nice to have some decent depth at C.
  10. Ugh. Another gut punch result. Dangit Mudcats. Needs: score when men are on base Avoids: bullpen giving up multiple run leads. See baseball is just that simple.....
  11. Welcome back @Joseph Zarr don’t worry you didn’t miss anything 😉 Hey finally my turn to write the nights play-by-play so you can catch up
  12. His last 17 appearances have been really solid. He had an ERA of over 5, and 31 K to 13 BB, since his ERA is now down to 3.31 and he has 27 K to 7 BB.
  13. Made with the catch and throw. And it's a 6-3 win That is a 3 win night for the affiliates. And 4-0 start to the week. Alright Now if we can get that big league club back on a winning streak 😬
  14. Uh oh. Cruz walks the first batter in the 9th -what's that rule again (never walk the first batter). Then a single and runners at the corners. But he gets a K. One down. Then a sac fly to RF. 6-3 game One more out to go.
  15. Made with a sac fly. And then Fischer with a hard hit single to right. He is 3-4 tonight. Then Baez with a sac fly and it's 6-2 T-Rats over the Cubs affiliate. Any loss by a Cubs team is a joyous occasion. Need three outs to close the door here, let's do it!!
  16. Luke Adams pitch goes over his head and hits his bat. He goes down and may have thought the ball hit is helmet and was down for a few seconds. But all is well and draws the walk. He has 3 walks, HBP and a single tonight. Yup That's Luke Adams.
  17. Likely that, and the better level and some issues of pressing a bit. He made it look so easy in DSL and low A this year, this is his first real taste. Made had his struggles to end July and I think he responded OK. Have to think Pena will be OK, would love to see him end the season on a high note, but I would expect him to start out well next year. His bat is electric and he has shown the eyes at the plate.
  18. I heard there was some kid who played SS ahead of him. Seemed like a decent ball player. I think his dad forced the coach play him at SS, but lost track of him ... what's he doing these days 😉
  19. Hoskins-Quero-Black however are a combined 1-12 with 6 K (3 by Hoskins and Black each). Yikes. Hoskins needs to get his timing and rhythm back I think, and just when I was ready to get into the prospect chatter with Black.... Liranzo continues to impress as a reliever in Nashville - could he be a future bullpen arm? And I do like how Will (don't call be Matt) Childers has been going mostly in Nashville a few tough outings when he first, but has been solid mostly since.
  20. Blake Holub concedes a run but that's it. Nashville score 2 in the top of 10, and give up only 1 in the bottom of 10 and that is your ballgame there. OK Affiliates are 2-0. Let's go T-Rats
  21. Alright Mudcats win the big game. Now T-Rats are up late. Tanner Gillis - I have slept on him, with 2.89 ERA in high A. He was a NDFA last year and is 25 now, and only 40 K in 60 IP. But another decent outing for him. "Struggling" Luis Pena with 4 K and I see Dinges got thrown out after a K. Nicasia with another HR, he has been hot of late.
  22. Fowler has some heat, kept pumping 95 mph fastballs and a breaking ball (maybe curve?) But his command is not there - he is not wild per se, but just missing his release or footing and it high or wide. But he buckles down after a walk he gets the K, then another walk, and he gets the game ending GIDP. DiTuri nice play and flip to Ebel who guns it to first. His arm is solid - he can handle 3B if needed I think.
  23. Walks the lead off batter, which is a no-no ever. Then gets bled to death with singles, a few seeing eye grounds and a couple of hard hit liners. Ebel range to the middle was challenged on at least one and maybe not as good as hoped, but he did get a very good throw on a RBI double play. But after a walk, it was a no doubt HR to left, and all of a sudden it's 5 runs!
  24. Announcer talking about Hernandez going out for the 6th, saying that his velo is down and he was 91/92 early on, I think I saw a couple of 90 and maybe there was a 92 I missed, but I don't think Melvin is a consistent 91-92 this season, or am I wrong? He gives up a couple of 2 out hits, and walks Eli Willits. And he is out, and Bjorn Johnson is in.
  25. DiTuri hits a grounder that hits the 3rd base bag and it's a hit and drives in two. Didn't deserve a hit, but that's baseball.
