  1. I took my son to a mid week Bucks game last year. The place was half empty so we thought we may as well move up a few seats. Unfortunately the ushers have a strict policy that you have to sit in your assigned seat. We won't be back.
  2. Gotta love the optimism jhart05. Prince in 2012!!
  3. Is there a hard date as to when this issue will be decided? I thought I heard the news was supposed to come out post appeal in January but was leaked.
  4. Does anyone have any theories on why Hart has lost his base stealing ability at age 29? I can't recall any significant injuries. He's not the Lollygagger he once was but for some reason his time to first and his base running ability in general has fallen off. Also, I thought the team might consider him at 1B. He'd certainly make a huge target and it's not like he's a world beater in RF.
  5. Sad to see Provus go. He added a lot of color and was a good straight man. Good luck to the kid!
  6. For those who ask why McGehee gets the star treatment I'd suggest his numbers the last two years are star worthy. If you project his 2009 numbers for a full year he'd have been an MVP contender. That being said I agree he's hurting the team right now but I understand the leash management is giving him. His defense is below average but Gamel would make him look like Brooks Robinson. As for Taylor Green it's getting late in the season to make the change. You don't want near rookies heading into the playoffs. If we were going to make the change we needed to do it in June. 7. If we count Babe Ruth don't we have to include Ankiel?
  8. I vote for Hart for not using his God given speed. He hasn't seen an infield single since Carter was President.
  9. Weeks for taking below average defensive skills and working hard enough to make himself reasonably solid. Prince for being a fat guy that still busts it down the first base line. Braun for being Braun. Gomez because he cares. Morgan cuz he's so freaking funny!
  10. McGehee's my favorite player partly because of his work ethic but I'm starting to crack. Some time at AAA might be what he needs. As for Taylor Green give the kid a shot but don't expect much. New kids generally struggle for awhile. Just ask Gamel.
  11. Our ball rolled into the woods last week and we can't find it. I'd use it until the old one shows up when the leaves fall.
  12. I was about to say I'd give it back for nothing until I read your $250,000 estimate. It's one thing to be nice and another to be crazy.
  13. Gamel is fortunate that he appears to be pegged for Prince's job next year. I love his swing but I'm getting nervous that he won't produce in the big leagues. It would have been nice to see him at 1B. I expect he will be a defensive upgrade from Prince but if he can't handle grounders at 3B it may be wishful thinking that he can handle them at 1B. It would be nice to give our average infielders a bigger target if nothing else.
  14. Last week Bill & Brian made a big deal about Hawkins approaching RR and asking to be the 7th inning guy. What happened? I may be rationalizing but this ends our 20 game in 20 day stretch. Hopefully we'll be refreshed and back to our winning ways by this time next week.
  15. To use an old hated description, Capuano is a "battler". When he's healthy I like the way he attacks the hitters. It's a refreshing change from guys like Davis & Suppan. Considering our improved staff and plethora of lefties he's still probably better off somewhere else if he wants to maximize his odds of starting.
  16. In an earlier blog I cautioned the Gamel groupies to go easy on penciling him into the line up since he hasn't proved himself for any length of time. For that I got hammered from all sides. So much for the sure thing prospect. I still hope he makes it but a prospect is still just a prospect no matter how good we think/hope he is.
  17. Yost's worst fears finally prove true when Prince hits into a triple play. We don't have any issues with the bogey wheels on our roof. Corey Hart will go the whole year without Lollygagging. McGehee will take Gomez under his wing and teach him plate discipline. Brewer bloggers will give our new Manager the benefit of the doubt......................until mid April.
  18. Sign him. McGehee proved last year that he has the intelligence and work ethic to adjust to opposing pitchers. His defense improved after his knee surgery and this year his repaired knees have allowed him to come into camp in better shape. It's a risky business but this guy is as solid as it gets.
  19. I can't believe more voters didn't go with McGehee. I guess past performance isn't considered indicative of future production. My theory is that the folks that voted "other" have one or more of our pitching staff in mind.
  20. I hope "The Lollygagger" isn't returning to his evil ways. I'd hate to think he came into camp out of shape. He promised last year that his Lollygagging days were behind him.
  21. Hi Chris, I've always admired your aggressive approach to pitching. You seem like an intelligent, poised competitor and I expect you'll have a terrific year. Sad to see you go but I understand you're looking for a larger role. You've certainly earned it. Best of luck to you and yours!
  22. It would have been nice to have Capuano available as a spot or replacement starter. I'm betting he'll have a solid year somewhere. Just a great competitor. I agree with the others on this board that have given up on Parra.
  23. I love Gomez's enthusiasm but he just seems too undisciplined to ever hit for a decent OBP. I'd like to see us bring a few veterans into Spring Training to compete. Considering we're rolling the dice on winning now we can't afford to have Gomez learn on the job.
  24. Is it a done deal that Gamel will be playing 1B this year? I agree with Igor67 that it may make more sense to move Hart to 1B next year. On paper he makes a huge target but if he reverts to his former lolligagging ways it could be more of a problem if he's in the infield. After years of throwing to Fielder the other infielders would feel like they only need to keep their throws in the 53214 zip code to get the out at 1B.
  25. Gamel has had issues at 3B in the past. If OF isn't an option he'll need a quick primer at 1B because he played the position a grand total of 2 games in 2010. Still, I agree he's earned a shot but I don't see a logical position. My vote would be 1B so our infielders would finally have a decent sized target. Of course trades may make this whole discussion moot depending on what positions open up.
