  1. I'm not a big fan of so called insiders because they're just not reliable. My issues with Hall come from personal observation. For instance, he turns triples into doubles by not hustling. Last year he started running harder once Branyan came up and finally got his first triple in two years. Early in his career he was a decent base stealer but apparently stopped studying pitchers and/or doing the work required to at least maintain decent numbers. Heck, even Carlos Lee could swipe an occasional base by paying attention to the pitcher's tendencies.
  2. I think Ennder's daughter is the good luck charm. Nice job getting her into the right sport early on Ennder!
  3. Cameron has more BBs than Ks and his OBP is around .500. I loved his defense and RBI's but for now we're getting the whole package. Awesome!!
  4. Haha. How the hell did I forget that? That might be the biggest oddity out of all of them. Yeah, I didn't think Counsell could continue to carry the whole team all year.
  5. And Kendall to boot. That's about as funky an inning as we've had so far.
  6. When was the last time one of our guys hit to the right side to advance a runner, even by accident?
  7. Not on TV in the Fox Valley if your only option is FSN. I think I'll boycott 2 games for every 1 that is pre-empted by the meaningless Bucks games. How can they cut such a bad deal that they're forced to run lower rated programming?
  8. southpaw, Occasionally another manager/coach will think they can fix a guy. That's the only way we'd get any value for Hall. Mike Maddux was able to fix a few pitchers at least for awhile so I guess it's possible. As you mention, Hall's contract is so big that it's doubtful another team will take the risk. I've been one of Hall's biggest critics because he really does seem to be capable but refuses to make the changes necessary to improve. His baserunning decline also sends a red flag that he's not making the effort. No way would I touch this guy.
  9. He wouldn't have inked a long term deal in Milwaukee if it was a major concern. If he does what we hope he does then it's doubtful we'll be able to afford him at the end of his contract anyway. Sad but true.
  10. I agree with TooLiveBrew that we shouldn't be quick to jettison Rickie right now. He may finally be emerging as the ballplayer we hoped he might be. Also, we just don't have a prototypical leadoff hitter so until we do Rickie's the closest thing to it. southpaw, when I read your initial note about Hall going to right I had to double check that your name wasn't Bill Schroeder. He's been harping for 2 1/2 years now about how Billy needs to take the outside pitch the other way to be successful. At a minimum it seems like we hear Schroeder's "You'll know Billy's hot when he starts hitting balls the other way" speech at least every other game. I know I've heard it at least 3 times this season. On the rare occasion like last night when Hall does hit a ball to right Schroeder gets so giddy I think he's going to fall out of the booth. You'd think Schroeder would have given up by now but I give him credit for hanging in there.
  11. Wow, thanks for the link. Considering how he's been pitching he's a key to the Cards being in contention. Gotta feel for the guy as he seems to be working hard to come back. It's a shame to see one of the best pitchers in MLB not pitching even if it does hurt the Brewers.
  12. I'm flipping channels between the Crew and Deadliest Catch. My comment is: Let's give Billy some soak time and we'll see what we have in June.
  13. Schroeder picked a heck of a time to talk about how well Kendall manages our pitching staff.
  14. If Kendall & Parra can make contact it could be the first time this year we go through the line up without a K. Things are looking up.
  15. Whatever happened to using a knuckleball pitcher? Have their times come & gone? If we just have a pitcher in the rotation to eat up innings it would seem like a better option than Suppan.
  16. Sveum said Cain pitched better than both Lindecum and the Big Unit. Looks like we won't have the West to kick around any more either. If you're not moving forward you're falling behind. Needed to do more this off season considering we don't have MLB ready pitching coming out of the minors.
  17. A walk would be just fine Ryan. Discipline.......... Excellent Mr. Braun. Thanks!
  18. If Pinella breaks his toys his rich Dad will just buy him new ones.
  19. Cubs pitchers better have rubber arms if Pinella is going to use them the way he has in the last week.
  20. I think the pitching is decent but the Cubs just have more horses on offense. They've just outscored us. Macca will figure out the various spots for the relievers and Hoffman's return (hopefully late this month) will help the pieces fall into place. Suppan has pitched a third of our games so that makes it look worse than it really is also.
  21. I like McClung over Suppan also. At least he goes after hitters and has an upside.
  22. Great point. His strike zone has been gradually expanding. Might be a victim of his own success. If he can tighten things up and take an occasional BB his power numbers would jump.
  23. Zambrano's back in his favorite park today. I'll be there to watch him go down. Bush & Zambrano are both fast workers so it should be a quick game.
  24. If he can hit singles like he's done recently I won't mind him being our first option. He makes the most out of a plate appearance and hits a bit better in the clutch.
  25. The old baseball rule of thumb is to play for the tie at home. Guess Brewer management agrees.
