  1. That's another reason I switched to Direct TV.
  2. I went last year and was disappointed on the autograph side. I thought there would be easier access but I should of known the autograph hounds would be out in full force. My plan was for a few autographs but that quickly changed when I saw the lines. I instead went the picture route and that was awesome. Got pictures with 12 players. I have a few of them on my desk at school and the kids who like baseball are always checking them out thinking their pretty cool. I had some great conversations with AxeMan and Josh Butler about college baseball and the College World Series. I told Axe I was out there when he played at Notre Dame and we got on the discussion about masters degree and me being a teacher. Greg Vaughn and I discussed the Hurricanes for a couple minutes. Am I going again, no, kind of hoping it would of returned to Miller Park.
  3. I had Dish for 3 years, 2 years SD and about 1 year HD. I live in Eastern Jefferson County. I switched over to Direct TV a little over 1 year ago. I did it because there are more sports channels that have college baseball and more HD sports channels. I also did it because I was sick and tired of searching channels everytime the Brewers/Bucks played. The games were never on the same channel like 669-1 on Direct. There were times when I missed parts of games searching channels. I absolutely love Direct TV's HD picture, I feel it's better than Dish but it's just my opinion. There are pro's and con's to both satellite services. Yes, Direct costs more but to me it was worth it.
  4. Cappy- Thanks for the hard work and effort as a Brewer. I know you will find a spot on a major league roster somewhere this season. You know why... you deserve it! With everything(the injuries) you've been through you deserve a little good luck your way. I'll be rooting for you!
  5. I'd love to have that pick!
  6. I have been a big DM critic since he did nothing after the 2008 season and "hoped" his pitchers would have career years to be competitive. I was also critical of him when he signed a lot of older players last year. I was extremely happy with him when he made the Marcum trade because I wasn't a big fan of Lawrie and some of the things I heard about him as a person. Now with Zach Greinke I feel like a kid who just woke up Christmas morning with presents under the tree!!! Is there a chance that Cain will be another Tori Hunter and Escobar another Ozzie Smith, sure maybe but how many of those top prospects turn out to be big time all stars? Do the names LaPorta and Brantley mean anything? I love Orodizzi but he's at least 2 years away, Jeffress...is he going to develop that third pitch and all of the sudden become a starter? There's a chance but it may not happen so he'll be stuck as a relief pitcher. Remember JM Gold, Nick Neugaberger? How did those high picks fair? I'm not sure I understand people saying that we won't be any good in 2013. I don't think our farm system is as bad now as some people think. Don't will still have Rogers, Peralta, Rivas, and Heckathorn? Don't we have the group we drafted last year...Miller, Nelson, Thornburg, and Ross? Maybe we don't have hitters ready for the bigs right now but we do have some guys at lower levels. We have 2 picks this year and didn't have to give up anything because we didn't sign Pavano. Maybe our system won't put anyone in the top 100 in Baseball America but I don't think we're that bad off. The look of this team the way it is now is a heck of lot more promising than one with Yo, Marcum, Wolf, Narvy and someone else as starting pitchers. They say a team always overvalues prospects, and remember they are just prospects not full time big league players with very much experience.
  7. Mike2k33- Jenkins crushed one in 1995 over RF and down the hill, don't know if it's the longest, just know he crushed that one.
  8. TB24- I believe booklets are not for sale anymore, besides they are general admission and you won't always get seat. They changed the rules with getting single game tickets this year so it will be tougher. You have to wait in line for a wristband and then another line for tickets. I guess on TV out there people are ripping the hell out of this new situation. I have tickets to both games on Monday and both on Tuesday. wEdnesday we will try to by them. Try to find Omaha people to buy tickets from, they are very nice and in most cases will sell them for face value or little above. Brokers are a pain, rude, and act like they are doing you a favor. They sell the ticket for face and sell the paperclip with it for $100...morons!!
  9. If you have ESPNU and you get the chance watch "A Long Home Run, Omaha and the College World Series". It's only been on ESPNU a few times but I did a search on Direct TV and it's going to be on some more before the CWS. It is really great... talks about the game's history in Omaha, they talk to former players and Ryan McGee from ESPN who wrote the book "Road to Omaha", also people from the NCAA and CWS Inc. If you like college baseball or are a huge fan like myself you would really enjoy this hour long special. As much as I will dearly miss "The Blatt" TD Ameritrade Park looks pretty cool. To me it is like going from County Stadium to Miller Park.
  10. I wanted to see if anyone was going to Omaha since it is the last season at Rosenblatt Stadium. This will my my 11th consecutive year going to Omaha. Kind of hoping AL makes it so I can talk to Jimmy Nelson. Let me know if you're going and when. I will be there the 21st-24th.*This may not be the correct place to post this so if it isn't please move it.
  11. bklynbrewcrew...I don't post on here very often for a variety of reasons but I had to respond to your post. I could not of said it any better! I totally agree about "being stuck in neutral"! My brother and I have had numerous conversations about this problem with the Brewers. If things don't change within the organization, I don't see us getting any better anytime soon. Thanks!!
  12. Yeah, Braun played 3B in 2005 with the Hurricanes. They lost in the regional that year in Lincoln, NE to the Cornhuskers. The previous 2 years he played SS, in 2003, and 2004. In 2004 he didn't see a ton of time at SS because of an injury and spent at least half the season as DH. They made it to Omaha in 2003 and 2004. They moved him to 3B in part because the normal 3B was kicked off the team. Not because he played terrible at that position. Can't remember the guy who got kicked off the team, first name is Gabby(Sanchez?Martinez?) and he's a top 10 prospect in the Marlins system. I know no one cares but I was bored so I decided to type.
  13. I'm going to start saving my money for playoff tickets!!
  14. Ok, so what happens now? What's the Brewers next move? Sit around and wait/hope for a bargain in January? Or Does Melvin stay/become aggressive?
  15. How about Rick Ankiel?
  16. I totally agree, there are others to trade and because he hits LH and is athletic. We can trade some of our RH hitting players instead.
  17. Please explain the comment..."consider yourself one of the lucky ones if you ever make more than a teacher". I didn't realize teaching is such a money making profession. Sounds like you've mastered life, good for you.
  18. I think so...The Brewers traded a PTBNL/prospect for Weathers.
  19. BrewerProspectus... I was thinking about Buchholz in the back of my mind. I was thinking maybe Buchholz has lost some of his luster(but I don't know for a fact) in Boston. Even if we had to throw in a lower level pitcher along with JJ to get Buchholz I'd do it. We need starting pitching badly to go with Yo and Parra.
  20. I put a question like this in the thread about Hart/Hardy's future. I was wondering if any contending team would need a SS (like the Red Sox) and maybe overpay (because they were just swept by the Yankees) to get one even though Hardy's production is down. There a lot worse SS out there than JJ but I don't think Boston would pay Melvin's price.
  21. After thinking about it, I doubt though that Melvin would put JJ on waviers to be claimed and try to work out a trade now as opposed to trading him in the off season where he might have more value, and hoping his numbers go up the rest of the season. I was just thinking(hoping) that someone would be desperate(like the Red Sox) for a SS at this point and overpay to get a good one.
  22. Is there a contender now desperate for a SS that would make a move for JJ and maybe overpay a little knowing that he's had good year(s) in the past? Maybe this team's SS is just not getting it done and they feel JJ could be an upgrade? Or wouldn't JJ clear waviers so they could make a trade?
  23. Did anyone read the JS blog(sorry if I repeated anything) that said "Cat in RF and Fielder in the lineup"? I guess AW from the JS was on 1250 and said some very unflattering things about Prince. I know AW is a Dodgers fan but saying that [expletive deleted] on the radio...does he have any professionalism!? (edit: language / excessive punctuation --1992)
  24. Yeah, I like the deal too. Too bad Hart's on the DL now!!
