  1. We can't trade Casey. I just bought his jersey. The Sheets, Jenkins, Sexton, Overbay, and Lee jerseys are already getting piled up in my closet. Seriously though, I'm not sure if Casey by himself would bring a boat load of prospects, especially not high ceiling guys, or guys that are ready for the bigs.
  2. I have no problem with it. He has to start once in a while. Gives us another lefty bat, plays solid defense, and he's hitting pretty good so far this year.
  3. Doc Gooden was a sure fire hall of famer too. I remember the hype until he got stupid.
  4. I would be willing to take a year off, but I'd probably want to see the proposal first. If the new system has what you describe, I would probably be willing, but I'd also like to redo rookie contracts, and make the international signings more fair by entering them in the draft, like the NBA.
  5. I've never been a Ken Macha fan, even before last season. Just never liked the guy. If the Brewers are still hovering around the .500 mark mid-season, would anyone else be cool with dumping Macha halfway through the year. They way I look at it, Milwaukee has only made the playoffs three times in history, and two of those times, they changed managers before the year is out. So, they're is history of it working. What do you all think? I know there is also history of it not working, but I like to gamble. (edit: more explicative topic title --1992)
  6. Not sure if it was mentioned, but when Ozzie Smith was inducted they played a highlight video. He had a play that looked like a routine slow chopper up the middle. He was running full speed towards second to field it and then it hit something and took a 45 degree hop behind him. He went against his body and barehanded it with his free hand and chucked him out at first. I've been trying to find the video on youtube but haven't been able to. I can't remember if it was with San Diego or St. Louis, but i'm almost sure it was St. Louis.
  7. I know Davis isn't get a whole lot of help from the ump, but when you never ever throw a first pitch strike, you can't complain that much. Even on the rare occasion that he pitches well, Davis games are brutal to watch. I already nodded off twice.
  8. When does Greg Zaun get the nickname rally killer? I know Kendall isn't good, but I don't see Zaun being better (offensively or defensively).
  9. My favorite play of all time, was when Bo Jackson took that line drive off the wall and gunned down Harold Reynolds at home. That was best throw I've ever seen, and I'm not sure if I'll ever see a better one. Probably won't get a lot of votes, but it shows what a freak that dude was. Pure athlete.
  10. Speaking of velocity, what is his velocity? At maryvale they didn't post the radar, but just from the sound of the mitt, he was bringing it.
  11. Just a question for everybody. Saw this kid pitch this year down in Maryvale. Was extremely impressed and hoping that last year wasn't a fluke for him. Anyone know what he projects as? I know he's in the rotation in Florida. But, he's got electric stuff, so if not a starter, might have closer potential. Just looking for a little info about him if anyone knows. Seems like an exciting prospect. Like i said, his numbers look amazing so far. Should hopefully see him in the Power 50 before too long.
  12. That is pretty creative. I really can't wait to see the official specifics on this deal. I'm a little bit confused. If he accumulates the points, does that mean the option is automatically picked up, or does void the option mean he can become a free agent?
  13. By the way, when Suppan comes back, did they announce who was getting sent down? I'm assuming Villanueva since i believe he has options. If it's Parra or Narveson, I would assume they would get claimed. Can't see a young, cheap starter getting past the Nationals on the waiver wire.
  14. It was probably mentioned before, but the thing I hate is when front office/management tells the fans that is an "open competition" for two roster spots. Why do they think fans can't handle it if they just say what they really mean? "We're going to give Suppan the fifth spot no matter what happens and how poorly he pitches. They're is absolutely nothing, any other pitcher can do to take this spot, no matter how good they pitch." They should have just told fans that in the beginning, instead of wasting our time by letting us think that a battle for rotation spots actually exists.
  15. Exactly! It's 2 games. I guarantee you every player goes two straight games without a hit.
  16. You got me too. And i was so excited and happy. Then i realized it was a joke, and now my day is boring and terrible again waiting for opening day. Which seems like it is about 8 years away.
  17. Wolf has been awesome so far this spring. I hope he can bring it over and give us what we need. Saw him in person twice when i was down there and i was very impressed.
  18. The last game i was at on monday (i believe), Fiers struck out the side on 12 pitches. He looked tough.
  19. "And That". not sure if your a comic book fan or what, but i love your avatar dude. The whole Patrick Stewart as Spider thing is awesome. Wish they would have made a movie about that book. With him being a huge "Transmetropolitan" fan, i'm sure he would have done it. Anyway, was wondering where you found that pic?
  20. Heether has gotten as much playing time and at bats as anyone else. So, it seems like he's getting a fair chance. The four games that i've seen him in so far down here have been mixed results. Bat looks okay (sometimes) and completely lost other times. Glove has been okay (sometimes), and other times looks very bad. But, the bottom line is, he's getting his shot to impress, but the rest is up to him.
  21. i'm down in arizona right now, and i haven't seen lucroy play at all. Salome has had a couple at bats. Looks to me, like Kottaras is going to be the backup. he's getting a lot of playing time, and nobody else (besides Zaun) is. So that's my opinion.
  22. hart didn't play yesterday did he? if not this would be two straight. is he hurt or just not playing? edit: never mind, just remembered it was braun that didn't play. I get those guys confused because of all the similarities.
  23. A couple days ago, I was watching on netflix a documentary about the 2000 or 2001 Indianapolis Indians and they showcased a couple of the Brewers prospects back then. It reminded me of this thread because I had totally forgot about Levrault (spelling?), and Kyle Pederson. Pederson especially, since he was such a high draft pick, I thought could have done something, but it seemed like another injury thing. On the same note, Marco Scutaro was on that team and was the team MVP that year. What did we end up getting for him by the way? Gotta admit, that I'm not very prospect savvy. Too little time to keep track of all of em.
  24. That would be great, but you have to find a GM willing to take that contract. With other pitchers signing such low contracts this year, I don't see why anyone would take that contract. Unless you mean, Doug should just cut him? But I don't see them doing that either. Would be great though, but doesn't he make like 13 or 14% of the payroll? Hate to say it, but I don't think that Suppan is going anywhere. I personally would trade him for a six-pack and a couple baseball bats, but that might be too steep for some teams too (Depending on what kind of beer).
  25. Exactly! They're human beings and last I looked, this is still America. Whatever they want to do on they're free time is up to them. And, putting clauses in contracts to dissuade players from doing what they enjoy is ludicrous too. The Brewers take the risk of off-season injury whenever they sign a player to a contract. They shouldn't, and we shouldn't, have the right to tell players how they have to live their lives within the law. It's their choice as human beings and that's the bottom line. Besides, Prince launched a bunch that almost knocked satellites out of orbit at the All-Star game and he had a pretty good second half.
