  1. I have to agree (Except for the Melvin firing just yet). Just when I thought the Brewers would be able to breathe and frolic in the sun without an albatross hanging around their neck.... Please say it ain't so Doug!
  2. Anybody know anything about Brian Barden? I saw on Baseballreference.com and the MLB.com player tracker that Milwaukee signed him to a contract. I don't know (but would assume) that it is a minor league deal, but couldn't find him listed anywhere here. I was looking for terms of the contract and any information about him.
  3. If the Brewers don't end up getting Hinske, and have to wait until late in the offseason to fill the bench... I wonder if Bill Hall would be a fit. I know Melvin is looking for a lefty power bat off the bench, and Hall is righty, but... well... maybe I'm just opening a can of worms.
  4. Since the Marlins were unable to extend Uggla, I'm wondering if they will run into the same problem with Nolasco. MLB traderumors quotes owner Loria as saying "stay tuned" for more Marlins activity, but notes that they might look for another starter. I kind of doubt that they will part ways with Nolasco this year, but he intrigues me as a #2/#3 type pitcher for the Crew to target. If there's another Marlins fire-sale happening, Doug should kick the tires on this guy. Someone in the Gomez to Marlins thread suggested McGehee and Gomez, so I thought I'd resurrect this thread. Nolasco was a super-2 and is arbitration eligible for 2011 and 2012. Any thoughts on what it might take, and if they might deal him?
  5. Anyone believe in reincarnation? I just found this today (by accident) from baseball-ref http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=braun-005wil Looks like we got the better version!
  6. I don't want Bob Melvin, mainly because referring to Melvin and Melvin would just put me in a zim-zam
  7. I didn't see anyone start a "Narveson to the LOOGY role" thread. Sigh^2
  8. I think Olivo just tied his career high in BB's drawn
  9. So does this mean that my Turnbow bobblehead will go up or down in value? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. I've never caught a foul ball or home run at a baseball game. I've never been kicked in the shins while wearing shin guards in pee-wee soccer or failed to be kicked in the shins without wearing shin guards.
  11. I was of the opinion that a main reason for bringing in Zaun was to tutor LuCroy/Salome at the major league level. I would like to see LuCroy make the team and get 1-2 starts a week, and if he is succeeding increase his load to more of an even split time with Zaun by July. (Best case scenario). Otherwise, the signing of Zaun just really doesn't make that much sense to me. I like the depth they added at Catcher, but those guys should be there only if Zaun is hurt and LuCroy/Salome can't hack it.
  12. I also got the Rotowire magazine today. Impressed. I like Nolasco, Kershaw, and Jurrjens. I'm not sold on Billingsley. My question is about bounce-backs for David Wright and Jose Reyes this year. I play in a 12 team points league with 5 keepers. I've got Utley, Gallardo, Wright, Reyes, V. Martinez, A. Gonzalez, C. Hamels, and S. Victorino. Who would you guys protect and who would you let go? I'm leaning toward keeping Utley, YO, Wright, V. Martinez, and Gonzalez. I just don't know what to do about Reyes. Any help? Thanks.
  13. Thought I'd resurrect this thread at the end of Cory's 1st year. I thought he did a good job meshing with Uecker as the season wore on. He did a good job of keeping his Cubs affection down to a minimum. I liked how he got on Bradley with Uecker. He might need to find another word to use other than "cushion," but good job Cory! Anyone have thoughts or opinions on his work after this year?
  14. Finishing ahead of the Cubs in the standings should always be a goal.
  15. Late to the show, Did Cam come out just because they are up 8 or 9 or was he hurt? Side note: Now it's ok to go to Julio, Macha!
  16. I'd like to think a certain Chicago team could use one of these streaks.
  17. I like the Karate Kid picture, but looking at the Cobras in their Pirates colors makes me shudder to think of "sweep the leg" with Yo on the mound todayhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  18. dabrew141, thank you, thank you, thank you for that link. I'm at school and loving it! They are only carrying the bottom half of each inning though, didn't get to see Hall's homer.
  19. I was kind of wondering about Dillard too. I'd love to see him up in the pen this year, but since he's being used as a starter in the minors, does that limit his ability for a call up?
  20. Um, Peavy pitched 173 innings last year. http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/stats/historical/player_stats.jsp?c_id=sd Not sure where you got that 26 innings from. He's had injuries, but not like Bedard's yet.
  21. I was erupting AT Macha last night when he brought in Julio. The Brewers had just came back to within 2 runs, and you go to Julio? Are you kidding me. Even I could see the disaster waiting to happen. (although I expected a homer after a few walks). I don't care if Julio hadn't pitched in 9 days or whatever, he did not deserve to be in at that time and Macha shouldn't have called on him. As for walks being higher in April than other months, I don't care if KC, or the Mets, or the Braves are walking lots of batters right now, I don't want the Brewers to do it, I expect more from them.
  22. I just got a bunch of MLB showdown cards for Christmas on ebay. Wish they still made it. I'd love to have YoGa in my lineup. Also still play the old Earl Weaver Baseball computer game. Super nerdy.
  23. It is borderline sacreligious, however, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that diomedeh2 meant "incredible cheese" by California standards. (Which are low) However, I might add that when I found extremely delicious smokey sharp cheddar in California, I was confused and asked the deli-worker to see the label only to find that it was from Wisconsin! So the Cowgirl creamery cheese may, in fact, be Wisconsin cheese.
