  1. If you're renting a car, I'd drive up to Point Reyes National Seashore for a day. Lots of nice hikes and good coastal viewings. (Although I'm biased as a birdwatcher) I worked east of Oakland for a summer and up in NoCal for a few summers, and enjoyed Pt. Reyes on the weekends, although in January it could be cold and windy. I also took that same train route twice before. The empire builder was nice, lots of room and most of the people are older travelers. (sneak on your own booze though). The Coast starlight train is usually packed with people moving up and down the coast. Get good seats and stay in them! Don't get caught in the lounge car for awhile and lose your seat. Also, my favorite beer is Lagunitas IPA, which is brewed in Petaluma I believe. Have fun
  2. I don't understand this statement. Errors often come from misplaying routine plays like Crew07 said, but also come from throwing errors. I know that there are much better ways to measure an infielder's defense, but I do think errors matter. I wonder if the Brewers would have moved Braun off 3B if he hadn't committed so many errors in 07? Maybe, maybe not. Anyway, I just think that sometimes Billy's throws go wild and his errors don't mean that he just got to more balls. (Although there very well could be stats of errors fielding vs. errors throwing that will prove me wrong).
  3. Bill Hall didn't need Lasik to see into the future, just check WOAH SOLVDD, Can Bill Hall pitch? Bill Hall was brought in for Lasik so his eyes would sharpen the lasers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Not too shabby for Swindle eh? 3 pitches, 3 outs. Two outs vs. righties.
  5. Without hearing/seeing the game, I think I like the fact that Macha is getting a little "firey" here in spring training. If the ump is that bad, and Macha wants quality at bats for someone like Duffy, yeah give him a piece of your mind. I like it.
  6. Gameday says that Macha was ejected by the home plate umpire. I'm not listening/watching, anyone know why?
  7. I thought that Julio's contract was non-guaranteed, meaning that if he doesn't make the club, we're not on the hook for his salary. I also was under the impression that since we signed Coffey to a FA major league deal, that we are on the hook for his salary. Anyone know the details?
  8. I would choose Gordon over Reynolds, and I might draft Votto before Davis. I have a separate trade question that is really bugging me... I play in a 12-team h2H points league that penalizes for strikeouts and charges +10 for pitchers wins and -5 for losses. It is a keeper league that allows up to 5 players to be "protected" from the previous year. My keepers are Utley, Reyes, Wright, and Hamels. My 5th choice is Howard. But I have an offer on the table for an 8th and 14th rounder for Howard. If I traded Howard I would be able to keep Gallardo. What would you do? Keep Howard and hope to get Gallardo in the draft, or trade Howard for 2 picks and keep Gallardo? I might also note that 8 of the 12 owners are big Brewer fans... Thanks
  9. I wouldn't take anything Ueck said about Koskie seriously. When Koskie went down and for awhile afterward, Ueck talked about the seriousness of concussions, and he brought up Matheny on the air yesterday. He jokes about people all the time. Look what he says about Kent in the booth, and about his own playing career. His comments toward Koskie may have come off a bit rough, but I took that to be typical Uecker sarcasm.
  10. Also, we lost 3TO to Jack Z, who we also lost. Brewers radio network also lost JP. He may be missed most.
  11. I've also mentioned how I like Iribarren over Gwynn, but I'd like to know how Iribarren's defense rates in both CF and 2B. Does anyone have defensive ratings for him?
  12. TGJ's going to have a hard time making the team if he can't play. If he's out a month or more http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/11425636 I gotta believe he gets passed over for a spot and clears waivers. Then again, he may not be out that long. Boy I wish we had some better backup OF depth/bench options...
  13. Thanks for posting that roster page with options: I didn't realize that Nelson and Iribarren were both out of options. Does anyone think either of those guys would clear waivers? I personally would like to see Iribarren win one of those bench spots this spring. If he doesn't perform, so be it. Can he play CF? If not, I would probably take Nelson and Nixon.
  14. Hey, new here on Bf.net! I, too, like the 2 lefties in the pen, and I'm not as keen on Gagne at the cost. I'd like to see: 1. Hoffman 2. Villy 3. McClung 4. Riske 5. Stetter 6. Swindle 7. Morlan/Gagne Julio and Coffey just scare me, and Dillard and DiFelice in AAA.
