    I wonder if a system like the NBA would be more effective? More teeth in the penalty for going over the 'cap.' Also, I'd revisit the inability to trade picks. If you were a small market team and had a guy you knew you were going to lose, you could flip him for a pick or 2 and that might be of more value to the small market team. Of course an international draft as well.

Because it's happening across the industry doesn't make it collusion." I agree with this statement, however lets not forget that factually, owners have been found guilty of collusion once before.

    I like the 4th of July way better then the Christmas Holiday...it is a lot warmer in July and it is socially acceptable to blow things up.

    We got 7 in La Crosse. More the light fluffy kind so not 'that bad.' However, I'm holding out hope that we will get another 5-6 by Monday and really suffer.

    I like Rillo's idea. I suggested before that maybe it might take a player option on year #2 for Ben to consider a one year. Thoughts?

    Brad Nelson might be Ok in a LHPH role.

    Only issue I see (other then the $10 million I suppose) is how you add a LH bat to the everyday lineup w/o moving someone. Maybe the 'Crew just doesn't but Macha discovers that you can PH for position players in the national league.

    Would a player option make sense here? Would Sheets would take $14 or 15-million this year with a player-option for the next (maybe also in that $15-million range)?

    Interesting thread. Only thing I'd like to add is that the talent level in the high minors seems to be much more valuable now then in 1993.

    Good that it's over and if CC had to leave, at least it is to the AL and the comp pick is about as high as we could have hoped for.

    Interesting idea. Gives the player insurance if he gets hurt, but still an opportunity to play the market again if he is successful. I kind of like it; but sure comes with more risk for the team then player.

    I'd rather do two years, even assuming that would cost more then 15-per. 36 over 2 years sounds better to me then 3/45.
